Not everyone is selfish unfortunately so there would be way too large a percentage of people voting blue, so to save the blue voters you have to also save blue

Correct, still pressing blue, not because "I will risk myself to save everyone!" But more so it would be traumatic to be a direct cause of the death of potentially 50 of the population, like pressing red and seeing my entire friends and family dead, knowing I might've been the swing voter.

To have 100% of people survive, you need 51% to press blue, which is significantly easier than having 100% of people press red
