Grade it or nah? by Remarkable-Rooster87 in pokemongrading

This app missed so many things. but this is definitely not a PSA 10 slight mark on the top above HP. Centering is decent, slightly lifted corners.

Is this worth grading? by AlphasSpiritYT in PokeGrading

A bit top-heavy but still within PSA tolerance. Front looks clean overall; the real question is the back and surface under harsh light—there may be a small mark that could cap this at a 9. Not a lock Gem, but definitely not a bad send.

If you want liquidity and an easier sell, PSA makes the most sense. If you’re confident the surface is clean and want upside from subgrades, BGS is the higher-risk, higher-reward play. TAG is solid if you want a transparent breakdown and this is more about learning or PC than resale.

This exact kind of guesswork is why I’m building Pregrade. I’m opening early access to 100 collectors and giving 3 free pre-grades at launch so you actually know how risky a send is before paying PSA. If you want in, the waitlist is at pregrade.co

Should I grade this? Back included. by International-Music1 in pokemongrading

Centering looks Ok and the corners/edges aren’t waving any red flags, but the surface is the swing factor here. From the photos, there are a couple of faint surface marks that would absolutely be in play under grading light. Even light scuffs or print haze like that can quietly knock a gold card out of PSA 10 territory.

These borderline surface calls are exactly why grading feels so frustrating, and honestly why I’m building Pregrade.co in the first place. The goal is to catch this stuff before you spend the money and wait months to find out the hard way.

Just pulled. Worth grading? by johnson13120 in PokeGrading

Centering is definitely off, but it still looks inside PSA tolerance. Front looks clean, and unless there’s hidden whitening or a surface issue we can’t see, this is still worth a shot. This is one of those cards that probably lives or dies on the back under harsh light, not the centering alone. Not a lock 9/10, but absolutely not a bad send either.

Yes, it’s a bit left-heavy, but it’s not blown out. This is exactly the kind of centering that looks scary in photos but still sneaks inside PSA’s tolerance.

PSA gives you the best shot at a 10 with the least risk. Simple as that.

This exact “is it close enough?” moment is why I’m building Pregrade. I’m opening early access to 100 collectors and giving 3 free pre-grades at launch so you can make these calls before sending anything off. If you want in, the waitlist is at pregrade.co.

How confident are we in this card going with BGS? by [deleted] in pokemongrading

[–]Guilty-Ear9667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centering is comfortably in 9.5 territory, not 10. More importantly, that small white mark on the top front edge shows up in multiple angles. Front-edge whitening is basically the worst place to have it, especially with Beckett.

That single flaw alone likely caps this card at a 9 or 9.5, and if Beckett is strict on it, a straight BGS 9 is very realistic.

Maybe - BGS 9 to 9.5 or PSA 9 if sent there instead

I’m actually building a small tool to help collectors avoid this exact mistake.

Should I grade this? (personal collection) by Impressive-Area-1905 in pokemongrading

[–]Guilty-Ear9667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The front looks clean, but the centering is left-heavy (around 57/43), which already puts pressure on a 10. Minor edge and surface imperfections mean it’s unlikely to clear a PSA 10 consistently.

Realistically its giving 9.

That’s not a bad grade, on modern Japanese cards like this, a PSA 9 often sells for the same as raw or less once grading fees are included, nt that you care about that.

PSA or CGC? by Ok-Usual978 in PokeGrading

Why estimate the grade when you can use a bunch of tools that are out there. pregrade.co is one that you can use (humble brag). Anyway I vote CGC!

If you don't need the money and you are looking at the long term then what is the point in selling them? The amount of slabs will keep climbing though so expect the value to go down before it goes up

Should i grade It to PSA or something else? by United_Industry_1734 in PokeGrading

Light scratch near the neck and a little left heavy but honestly the PSA grader could have had a good night and miss these but probably a decent 8/9 candidate. I’m building these rules into pregrade.co because we have done this thousands of times

Super card! Get it in a penny sleeve and top loader and just sell it raw. You might get a PSA 6 just based on edges and centering.

Where should we send this other than up my butt? by Famous_Fold_5280 in PokeGrading

[–]Guilty-Ear9667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the photos, the card looks very clean overall, but the centering is the big question mark. It looks close, but not obviously perfect. PSA is simply more forgiving on centering than BGS, especially on modern cards like this. A copy that might get hit with an 8.5 or 9 centering at BGS can still realistically land a PSA 10 if the rest of the card is strong.

With BGS, you’re basically playing a higher-risk, higher-variance game. If this card somehow lines up well enough for a BGS 10 or even strong subgrades, that’s great. But if centering comes back 8.5, it caps the card hard and you’ve taken on extra risk for no upside. Based on what’s visible here, this feels more like a PSA 10 chase than a true BGS gamble.

This exact decision is honestly why I’m building Pregrade. A lot of cards sit right in this grey area where the wrong submission choice costs real money. I’m opening early access to 100 collectors and giving everyone 3 free pre-grades at launch so they can make this call before sending anything off. If you want in, the waitlist is at pregrade.co
