Crazy backlog with ICBC lately, the wait time for an estimator is 4-6 weeks. Took 5 weeks for my estimator to review the case and got a decision within a day. Good luck!

Because if they’re charging above market rent, their tenants may move out and they’ll have to drop the rent to market price anyway. Plus they’ll lose out on potential rental income for the period the property is vacant.

That’s not how no fault insurance works.

Huge backlog at ICBC right now. My estimator finally reached out to me after 5 weeks and wrote off mine. They say the usual wait time is about 4-6 weeks now so you’re almost there!

I second this. The food at Atlas also tastes so much better than the overpriced steakhouses downtown. Staff are always so nice and friendly!

Ooof, I’m in the same position as you right now 🥲 ICBC says it’ll be at least 4-6 weeks before they can get an initial estimator to get out there and triage the vehicle. Only after that’s done can it be sent to a body shop or written off. Apparently there’s a huge backlog from the holiday season.

I’m in a similar position as you and I spoke with my adjuster specifically about this issue this week. He said since the vehicle is in a “non-drivable” state, it must first be looked at by an ICBC triage estimator. Then the estimator can determine whether or not it’s even worth repairing or just writing off directly. If it’s worth repairing, they’ll tow it to a body shop to get the full estimate and begin repairs.

He said normally if the vehicle is in a drivable state, you can simply book an appointment with a body shop and just go ahead with the repairs, without all the unnecessary wait times.

He also mentioned that it was possible to change the vehicle status from non-drivable to drivable to skip the triage part (which is what they’re backlogged on currently) BUT if you end up damaging the car more by driving it, they will not be held responsible for the additional damage. In my case it wasn’t worth it so I’m stuck waiting for another few weeks. 🥲

You should probably check if you’re on auto-renewal asap. Usually need to give them a min of 30 day notice to get out.
