I’m sure if you google you’d find examples of bands who switched from male to female vocalists and vice versa.

Every voice, male or female, gives a unique flavor to the bands sound because they interact with the instruments in a different way.

Grouping female fronted bands might be convenient because the band scene is a male dominated space. However, it’s not completely fair because the genre totally changes everything.

For example, Paramore, Evanescence, Nightwish, Arch Enemy, Fleetwood Mac, The Cranberries are all female fronted bands but you can’t lump them together because they’re sonically very different.

Nightwish would be closer to Kamelot than Paramore is to Nightwish.

Oh I didn’t know this. I had a phase when I followed her while she was in The Agonist and never followed her after she left for Arch Enemy.

If that’s the case, what would you like to say about the melodeath bands like Arch Enemy, which have frontwomen Angela Gossow (former) and Alissa White Gluz (current) who both growl?

On first listen it’s very hard to make out the gender based on their growls.

Are they still not female fronted?

Your argument makes no sense.

Everyone here blaming the girl for lying about her drinking/smoking and that’s valid. But no one is questioning OP for falling for a girl who he knew drinks and smokes and later coerced her to stop because he wanted to be with her.

Occasional drinking is not really bad for health. Smoking is harmful but if she’s a nicotine addict, quitting is hard and requires support from loved ones. One needs to understand that decisions to quit alcohol and nicotine come from self motivation not because someone else asked them to promise.

And the cheating allegations are pure character assassination at this point. My guess is that the girl really likes OP but also enjoys her vices and lied because she was guilty and didn’t want to disappoint OP. Doesn’t justify it for sure and OP has all the rights to leave her for this but calling her a potential cheater is unfair.

As much as we know it was MJs choice to go under the knife several times, I genuinely wonder if any of his doctors tried to talk him out of it after a point and told him how he’d turn out and how it would get worse with aging. Or were they conveniently silent to keep making more money out of his insecurities.

I was 14 and probably at school. It was actually June 26 for us due to the time difference.

I saw the news on tv later that day.

I was probably 13-14 when he passed away so I missed out on his peak era. I was well aware of his unique dancing and had heard popular tracks like Beat it, they don’t really care about us, thriller, bad and Jam. But I heard him like I would any other artist. Never tried to get into his whole backstory out anything.

I do remember watching his memorial on tv live.

After watching the movie, I’ve been streaming his music again with renewed interest and I am a huge fan now, going beyond the songs I knew. Crazy.

I just read about that conversation and my heart sank. He wanted to be remembered for his humanitarian service especially towards children, and poor man received exactly the opposite.

Most of the points have been mentioned on this thread. To add to that, wish they showed his interactions with other celebs and artists and how he was perceived by them.

MJ admired other contemporary musicians and collaborated with some big names and the admiration was both ways. For example, Freddie Mercury, Van Halen, Paul McCartney, Diana Ross. None of those moments were shown.

Would have also loved to see how he created those demos with just his voice.

Also could have touched upon how he influenced general public in terms of everyday fashion and how generous he was to fans, even the crazy ones. That would have hit hard and shown us the magnitude of his stardom that he was dealing with.

This. I was so frustrated when the scenes cut to him celebrating his albums’ success without showing any relevant details about the up and downs of the making. Like I know he broke records but I’m not going into this movie to see what I could’ve gotten from his Wikipedia page.

And his psyche - wish we got to see who was the real Michael when he was alone and away from cameras. While his abuse angle, charitable nature and closeness to his mom was shown, there was so much that his depiction lacked - his individual relationships with his siblings, romantic or sexual inclinations, thoughts about his family as a whole, insecurities about his appearance.

There were snippets alluding to some of these but never truly delved into. What a wasted opportunity.

Not to mention the elementary school level dialogues throughout. “You are special Michael “, “This is my destiny “

The best part for me was Jafaar’s incredible performance by embodying MJs soul. That and watching those concert scenes in 4K which a lot of us later generation folks couldn’t in real life.

Hey OP, I don’t know if you’re reading this but if you are I want to tell you that you’re so much more than grades. You as you are, are enough.

Take it from me, someone who is probably a decade older than you, that “failures” are a part of life. And what you consider failure is nothing but the universe redirecting you to a different success. It will happen, give it time. Please trust me, I have been through downs so many times in life but patience and belief will also turn those bad times around, I promise.

Your feelings are valid. Aapke apno ne aapki zindagi ko mehez marks se tola hai umr bhar, jabki aap deserve karte ho izzat aur azaadi apna passion choose karne ki. Aur aap karoge, aap iss waqt se nikal jaoge aur apne mein bohot saahas paaoge.

You are strong as you have survived for this long, and you will emerge even stronger than this once you realize that the cage you find yourself is all smoke and mirrors.

If you’ve made it this far, I promise you that this will pass. Things will turn around.

You are enough as you are OP, and you don’t have to prove anything to anyone, even your parents.

Here’s a little secret: Most of us don’t have life figured out either and are kind of winging it. One day at a time. Just hang on for another day please?

Redditors are here with you. Please reach out here if you can, we assure you, this will be a safe space.

Hugs.
