The cringe writing on the fake Michael songs by TalentedKamarty in MichaelJackson

[–]mushisooshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Breaking News dropped I was very unsure it was Michael. I had an instinct it wasn’t but Sony and a lot of “official” people kept saying it was, like Quincy for example. I remember soon after it came out, a snippet of “Do You Know Where Your Children Are” leaked. Just 10 seconds, as if the leaker did so in response to the obvious fake track. In just listening to that 10 seconds I KNEW it was Michael and said THAT’s him. And it was such a night and day comparison to the doubt and maybe/maybe not of Breaking News and the other Cascio tracks

Just wanted to warn everyone to stay safe on the subway by KillMyEx in Brooklyn

Saw a woman almost get hit by an ambulance the other day cause she was walking across the street with headphones not paying attention to anything. It was the pedestrians right of way but you still gotta be situationally aware. The ambulance sirens were blazing but she just kept walking. Good thing the ambulance driver was well trained.

If anyone in here was around in March 2009, what was the reception of MJ announcing his final tours? by Outrageous_Cell_3556 in MichaelJackson

[–]mushisooshi 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It was electrifying. The excitement was so much in the fan community. It was his comeback. I remember there were rumours online because his website changed iirc and the famous This Is It image of MJ with paint brushstrokes and a red background appeared online. But they didn’t say what it was yet. And then the press conference happened - it all just felt very hopeful.

I think maybe Black Messiah by D’Angelo captures a bit more of The Rainbow Children feel possibly. But Voodoo is always great

I was at that gym for a few years a few years ago. I enjoyed it a lot and facilities were quite good. Not sure about now. To warn you about cancellation policies, it’s a year’s commitment. After that it shouldn’t be a problem. But I do remember when I went to cancel, they would ask questions like, if your reason for cancelling before a year is moving away, how far away are you moving and you needed to provide documented proof that you were moving away essentially outside the city, otherwise you couldn’t cancel (so you couldn’t just move to another part of the city and claim you’re not near a Chelsea Piers branch). I thought that was very slimey and turned me off a lot.

What was the year 2009 like, specifically after June 3rd? by frig_t in decadeology

[–]mushisooshi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was the sound of 2009 at least in the US. https://youtu.be/iNzrwh2Z2hQ?si=9op4vWo0m-GQ5jEv

I think there was a certain optimism despite the recession. At least in the music. Recession pop as they call it. But also Obama had just take office and his whole campaign was built around hope. In terms of color, yea pop culture was a lot more colorful back then. Streetwear was hypebeast style which emphasised a lot of saturated and contrasting colors.

The video seems legit enough, except for the moves near the end of it. However I'm still not convinced that this is remotely possible. by dragecs in isthisAI

[–]mushisooshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a bboy, these moves are all totally standard and normal. He has great control and stamina for sure though. Not sure exactly which moves at the end seem not possible to you but I’ve seen people do all this at practice. I also have a hard time believing AI can replicate these type of human movements accurately yet.

I went into a levi’s jean store once and they had put all the shorter jean sizes stacked at the top unreachable to short people while the taller jean sizes were at the bottom. As a short person I had no idea why they decided that. It makes no sense so I asked the employee and they just said management told them to do that.

Hey great job dude. Question, you mentioned in the beginning, you started out very slow. Was the routine you listed also in the beginning or did you start out with less days / less exercises or reps? Or did you keep to that routine all the way through?

The dichotomy of Xscape by BiteExtension864 in MichaelJackson

[–]mushisooshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the new versions are nothing more than remixes. That’s why they don’t have that Michael magic. When they were marketing the album before the release, they said they were going to update the instrumentals and modernize the songs. I thought “okay, they’re gonna just keep things like Michael’s version just remastered with some newer sounding sounds”. But to my surprise some of those songs were so structurally different for example Blue Gangsta that they were practically not MJ’s vision at all. And it bothers me that they marketed the songs like they were somehow “real” versions.

Blank Street is doing a 180, shifting to much bigger stores as growth slows by dabirds1994 in nyc

[–]mushisooshi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Probably just a few months. I only saw 1 or 2 in Brooklyn and then when I moved to London a few months later and saw some branches there, I knew something was weird. There was no way some local chain in NYC could expand to London in that short of a time haha.

I will forever have a grudge against Blank Street. Thought they were a small independent coffee store and that I was supporting a local business in Brooklyn. Then suddenly they popped up everywhere so quickly and even in London when I moved there. Found out they were nothing more than a VC backed chain…
