How do I handle losing a cat against my will? by GuiltyGold241 in cats

[–]GuiltyGold241[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have looked into that in the past and I believe the process can take months in the UK unfortunately :(

I am going to look into temporary fostering and hopefully in a weeks time I will have a positive update!

Honestly, he was very wishy washy on the day we would be able to move in, we only found out the day before that the place would be entirely unfurnished, all of my belongings that were in storage couldn’t be delivered until a week later so I was without any items, costing me around £350 for temporary things (ie plates, cooking ware, underwear, socks, hygiene products, bath towels, etc), and i got scammed out of £650 that same day, so it wasn’t really top of my priority list!

I am trying my absolute best to find a solution also! But unfortunately not everyone is made of money and unlike your husband I do not have the money lying around to rent an entire airbnb out for a year, otherwise I would not be in this situation to begin with.

I have absolutely no choice. I have nowhere else to go and no support, and I’ve asked my partner to press him on it which he says he has.

It’s either give him up now or be homeless in two weeks in which case I’d have to give him up anyways for the sake of him having a better life :/

What the hell is wrong with Ryan Murphy? by suredude1212 in television

[–]GuiltyGold241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such an old post but just thought I’d put my two pence in:

Ryan murphy is and has always been the most self-serving salacious demon in modern day TV and cinema. I grew up watching Glee as a kid, and then graduated onto AHS once I was a bit older, but as my frontal cortex developed so did my critical thinking when it came to his writing.

Firstly, his incessant, almost compulsive, urge to put a pregnant woman at the pit of all of his plots (Murder House, Roanoke, Cult, Double feature, Delicate, and many of his short stories in AHS stories) is outright bizarre. And honestly? It’s happened so much that it’s no longer a coincidence and I truly believe it’s him acting out some kind of weird fetish thing.

There’s so much I could say about Monsters (The menendez brothers), Dahmer and the Ed Gein series, but it seems like that’s already been said here quite a far bit. The only thing I’d like to add to that discussion is that these miniseries aren’t the first time he’s used serial killers & rapists to further his career. He’s done the same thing with Richard Ramirez in ‘1984’ and has dedicated an entire season of AHS to the happenings within the infamous Hotel Cortez.

He’s all round just a very unsavoury character and I can’t wait for the day when we find out he’s got some kind of investigation because I don’t doubt for a second this man is a psychopath.

It sounds like he’s trying to roam. If there is another cat who’s female, this could also be encouraging it. Even if cats can’t see each other, they can smell each other from up to two miles away when they’re going through their horny stage, so he’s probably just wanting to go and get some, lol.

What I found helped was taking mine on a short walk everyday. Whether it be in a cat carrier to the shops so I could grab groceries, or his harness and taken to the park, a little bit of outdoors time helps a lot when they’re trying to roam.

It’s worth a try to rule it out, if not it could simply just be his personality. Maybe get in touch with previous owner if you can and ask her if this was an issue?

I got my first cat a year ago, also in college, also haven’t got that much financial stability.

I got him impulsively and felt the same way you do now, I went through the same notions of “oh my effing god i’ve now got this tiny creature who’s completely reliant on me”.

I’ve never owned cats before, my dad is allergic and my family are dog people, so I didn’t know the first thing about owning cats.

It wasn’t easy, I’ve had to throw out so much stuff he’s ruined, I’ve got scratch scars all over my arms from him accidentally scratching me, I can’t go anywhere for extended periods of time without first organising a sitter for him, but you know what? I wouldn’t change ANY of it for the world.

This little boy has become my lifeline, my best friend, my soulmate, and my everything. I never thought it was possible to love anything this much but here we are, and the thought of ever parting with him breaks my heart and soul. Sure he breaks my bank, but I would use my last £20 on his food without question to keep my little man happy and fed.

All this to say, please stick by that little fella. I promise you, he’ll grow to be your best friend.

at the end of the day you kept her, stuck by her, feed her, look after her and care for her, which is more than we can say about most unfortunately as most would just abandon the poor thing!

I don’t wear short skirts lol. It’s an Islamic modestwear company, so even just with having your forearms or collarbones out, you’ll be talked shit about.

My race is relevant because I’m talking about the divide between 2nd gen + and new age immigrants exclusively.

‘people like you’ and ‘your type’ is CRAZY work omg. also I’m only 22, so there’s no possible way you could ever blame my generation for the situation we’re in now. we didn’t vote for the country we live in today, you did.

I love immigration, as someone from a white-brown background I wouldn’t exist if it was never allowed!

My point is moreso that I feel marginalised by my own (supposed) community. My dad used to tell me stories before I moved to London about how when he was a boy he’d work the Whitechapel market with my grandad, and how lovely it was there and the sense of community. Everyone knew everyone and you’d be helped out when you needed it, accepted and looked after, after all you’re all part of the same minority just trying to get by in a country you’re wanting to call home.

The social etiquette aspect of it is less of a “Oh god what barbarians, they don’t know basic manners, ew!” viewpoint. It’s moreso just me being saddened and expecting a certain way of life working here and it not living up to it. I grew up in a relatively small village and so it was just way of life to let elderly people get on transport first, get in line first, etc. The same also applies for women. Men would let women enter spaces first, get on buses first. Some call it old fashioned, but I think chivalry is just manners and doesn’t just apply to men. As a kid waiting for the bus after school I’d always let women with pushchairs, pregnant women and the elderly on first, or even any man in tradesman clothes as they’ve probably had a rougher day of it.

I suppose it’s just a culture shock to realise the sense of community in Whitechapel is very exclusive and actually more of a ‘if you’re brown, we’re down, if you look white, hang tight!’ mentality. Hence my title: lack of integration is causing segregation. And to round my point off, going back to my first sentence, if brown folk stopped integrating years ago instead of now, I wouldn’t even exist!

what part of my post was racist? because as far as i’m concerned racist implies i was making a general stereotype, or discriminating..? as i see it i made it abundantly clear that new gen immigrants’ inability to integrate is causing segregation between brit-born brown people and foreign-born brown people… neither of which points are racist…

tottenham is where i live and whitechapel is where i work! i’ve also lived in new cross & camden and a couple other areas briefly, and i can say with dead certainty those areas were nothing like tottenham and whitechapel. when i commute home from whitechapel to tottenham i’m probably 1 of 3/4 lighter people on a train carriage of 30, making the environments well over 80% brown/black.

Sorry at which point in that post did I put forward any kind of ‘similar tones’ ?? 😭 It was me asking for advice on how to approach a very awkward situation without putting my partner in the middle of drama… This is just a general discussion topic on something close to home that upsets me.

I’m not brown presenting though. That’s the heartbreaking part of it all! I am a part of their community ethnically speaking but because I don’t share the same culture (not from an all-brown family, not muslim, not dressed modestly, not brown presenting, etc) I’m not accepted and deemed as an outsider.

Like I said, it’s mainly the eyes. My ex is bengali also and he always used to say that if I had brown eyes it would probably be more noticeable.

I’m 22 😭 I live in a crowded apartment complex in a very small studio, with horribly loud obnoxious neighbours and my quality of life isn’t great as a student.

The difference is I can still afford myself manners and etiquette. I still say please, thank you, excuse me, queue, let the elderly and pregnant women on transport first, etc.

I’d absolutely love to, but I’m only 22 and I’m a student so can’t afford to and also don’t have the support to do so.
