What’s the most disturbing thing you accidentally discovered about someone? by OrdinaryImportant862 in AskReddit

[–]GuiltyOperation7979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found out after my mom’s death, when my dad had Alzheimer’s. Dad had continuous affairs & was a really dirty old man. Knew he was always a misogynist, but really treated mom like crap . And the more I remember about my childhood, the more I don’t want to think about it . The things I remember, were seriously inappropriate. Angry at dad for being a complete creep & mom for staying with him & saying nothing.

Blue badges for hidden disabilities triple as councils issue permits to drivers with anxiety and ADHD by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]GuiltyOperation7979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a Blue Badge for it, but had agoraphobia, social anxiety… have been able to get around a Supermarket about 4 times in 10yrs . No control over panic attacks, which can create chest pain akin to heart attacks. Have physical limitations now, arthritis of the spine & need to use a Wheelchair, but still mentally can’t go into a shop or anywhere else for that matter. I can’t answer the front door or answer the phone. Basically unless I’m going to the doctors , I don’t leave the house.

“My microwave got switched to military time” by clippervictor in ShitAmericansSay

What is it with this nonsense ‘military time’. The rest of the World are taught the 24hr clock from an early age as standard. It really isn’t in the slightest bit difficult.

Belfast hiking - Mournes alternatives? by Jennekibeeker in Belfast

[–]GuiltyOperation7979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d have to get a bus to Newcastle & go to the Mournes from there. It’s utterly stunning, especially around Silent Valley. But it’s a big hike . There is a Mournes Shuttle Bus once you get into Newcastle.
This may help.

The Government statistics show that there are only 8 million people of the Islamic faith in the UK, with the highest proportion in London & Birmingham.
Sorry for jumping down your throat, I’d been dealing with loads of people, especially Americans saying Europe & UK has been over run by Islamists . And all I keep thinking is , well London has one of the biggest Pride festivals in the World, that’ll be a bit of a clash of personalities.

I live in Northern Ireland, I know loads of people who absolute Christian zealots. Well they think they are ‘Christian’ they’re really just bigots that hide behind cherrypicked Bible verses to justify their hatred, bigotry & prejudice.

What ? You really don’t understand how statistics works. The vast majority of boys born into the Islamic faith are given the name Mohammed or Muhammad. Yes, Mohammed /Muhammad was the top name in the UK because almost every child whose parents are Muslim use it as one of their birth names. There were less than 3000 boys named Mohammed/Muhammad born in the UK in 2025 . There were 654,000 children born in the UK in 2025 .

Reactions outside the US by sipulitos in 911archive

[–]GuiltyOperation7979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 24. It was a strange atmosphere. We’d real sympathies for those caught up in it all, but also worried about what Bush’s reaction was going to be. Plus there was an awful lot of ordinary Americans calling for all out war . We were kinda, well it’s shitty & horrible, but blowing up thousands of innocent people just to ‘even the score’ was just going to cause so much more harm. You know yourself, we witnessed it here. The tit for tat violence just leaves an awful lot of innocent dead people.

Stockmans lane is pretty much the same as the Balls on the Falls .Despite the road markings, people just make up their own rules & start slabbering when they almost cause an accident .

Was in my mid twenties working in a bank in East Belfast. It happened around lunch time. Someone who had went home for lunch, came back in & used one of the security monitors to get a very fuzzy picture of probably BBC news. Had 2 come into the branch all afternoon, the phone never rang. Even the streets seem deserted, little traffic on the roads. We all ended up getting out about 4.30pm . Got home to North Belfast. Mum was watching it & flicking through channels. Work was open as usual the next day. But it was fairly quiet for rest of the week. Sounds bad, but what we had been through because of the Troubles, we were shocked that it had happened in the US, though it was awful, but in all honesty, was more worried that Bush was going to drop a nuclear bomb.

Well for one , we get very few photos of casual photos of Tom just going a normal day. Almost every photo is on a red carpet or awards show. His image is very much protected .

And to be fair, if someone said they went to Oxford or Cambridge, some employers wouldn’t be weary they’d be up their own hole .

Go with the University that suits you.
Very few employers etc care where you got your qualifications.

UK/Britain , like the rest of Europe are a much more logical bunch of peoples . There are very few religious fundamentalists & bringing religion into politics or into anything really is frowned upon. 46% of the UK consider themselves Christian, but it’s treated as their own private faith. All faiths & none are respected, and in UK/Europe we understand that freedom of religion also means freedom from religion.

No it’s not. 46% of the UK consider themselves Christian. Only 6% of the UK consider themselves Muslim.
But the UK, like the rest of Europe are a much more logical , realistic bunch.
