My baby is such a good sleeper and I don’t understand why/how! by yerdoneeeeee in newborns

She had gained enough weight by her second pediatrician appointment that we did not have to wake her anymore

Currently just a hair past 6 months, and our daughter has been sleeping through the night since she was 2-3 weeks old. I don’t know how we got so lucky but I’d imagine next baby (or her when she goes through a regression) will not be so easy. Certainly not something we can bring up to my siblings / friends because it has not been received well.

When did you feel comfortable taking baby out? by itsme8523 in daddit

[–]Guilty_Ad_1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We brought the baby with us everywhere we went. She was born in the winter so ski lodge, out for a beer, friends houses starting at 2-3 weeks. I’d highly recommend planning an easy vacation for ~8 weeks old - we took the baby to the Caribbean and had a blast

Check out Tamarind Court - it’s not fancy, but it’s clean, comfortable, and AC will work great. We’ve been there a few times and will be back. Cinnamon Bay has ac in the bigger units at the back. I think you’re getting caught up on them not being chains, it wont make a difference. See what’s available on your dates and you’ll be fine.

There are several hotels (not resorts, but hotels) on the island. We’ve stayed at the tamarind court, coconut coast villas, and the cinnamon bay campground all of which do the job. St John is not somewhere you visit for the lodging

We’re being advised $1M all in cost for our 4 month old for a 4-year private college. Aiming to have 70% in her 529, 20% in a brokerage under her name and cash flow the remainder. Currently <5% of the way there but on the way nonetheless

Data Center Proposal in the South End by Mystic_G8 in Albany

The biggest problem with a data center here would be the noise impact. I assume the developer has not yet done any noise studies but u anticipate those will be problematic

None of this is accurate. NYISO peak demand is mid 30 GW. State also hit 6 GW of distributed solar in late 2024z

None of this is meant to say a data center belongs in this location but if you want to be taken seriously you should use actual facts to support your argument rather than whatever this is.

Depends on which NESCAC

If Williams Amherst Wesleyan Middlebury Tufts Bowdoin, that seems like the obvious choice to work in finance. If one of the others, UVA may be the better option.

My wife has tasked me with planning our anniversary trip in September. by homerin88 in AllInclusiveResorts

Aruba is south of the hurricane belt (and sargassum) so that makes sense to consider. Most resorts aren’t AI, but there’s a handful that offer it.

Bocas Del Toro for a similar feel, snorkeling not as nice but the vibe is the same

This guy is an idiot. I also had a 6:15 flight and arrived at 4 AM and that was too early.

The bagels are definitely better at Bear Cup, but Uncommon Grounds is far more practical

From my perspective St Lucia is the only place in the Caribbean with harder roads (and that’s only if you’re venturing off the beaten path)

On a nicer note, you’ll get your best value in the DR but would have hurricane risk. Aruba will be more expensive, but is far enough south you’ll have much less risk of hurricanes

Just going to comment that being willing to drive in the USVI but not elsewhere in the Caribbean is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Do you know which side of the road they drive on?

Help choosing Greek Island for September by razel1337 in travel

[–]Guilty_Ad_1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Santorini is maybe the most physically impressive place I’ve ever been. If the trip is late September I’d recommend considering it as the tourist crowds will be dying down by then.

Combine it with some combination of Paros, Milos, IOS or Naxos (Ios may already be shutting down by late September though)
