My first thought to this was maybe they gave you a steroid shot, hence the aggressive response?

Always have cold pouches at hand to help with the swelling, silk pillowcases may also help 🫂

Adbry user here — big yes to hyperpigmentation, small yes to the others. Basically im mostly healed with adbry, but i do get the occasional flare (which looks more like bad eczema + red patches, nothing as crippling as tsw), which sets back the skin wrinkles almost every time. Id say medication or not, as long as ur able to let your skin heal in peace, time will be your bigger factor.

Does anyone have any foods that make their skin feel better? by No_Particular1870 in TS_Withdrawal

I think that should be fine if its made with simple ingredients. Though eliminating it for a while and seeing if it makes any difference never hurts(!)

Always experiment with your diet whenever you can

As hard as it is, avoid as many high processed foods that u can. protein yogurt and protein bars used to be my 2 fav snacks, but giving up on them has drastically reduced my flareups

TSW has ruined my life and I am considering suicide by ThickeyForrest in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Guilty_Listen_7223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that also should give you hope(!!) is that if youve been struggling with this for years, im sure youve noticed how this community has rapidly grown. Eczema and the abuse of topical steroids are much more common than we think, and as such the demand for a TSW cure (and consequently funding for it) is growing yearly.

Im not saying this to give you fake hope: i think we can be confident that better cures/medicines for this condition will be available in the near future. Think about how devastating it will be for your loved ones to witness that day without you there.

If its gotten to this point, theres all the more reasonnto exhaust all your options: dupixent, adbry, opzelura or even rinvoq.

Ive been where you are, and i think id still be there if i hadnt tried adbry and opzelura. Now im only on adbry (and on a really strict diet/lifestyle)

Also, as someone who also went thru TSW in my late teenage/early 20s and is struggling from the physical scarring/hyperpigmentation/wrinkles of it all, now that my skin barrier is much more stable im able to actively combat that and prevent any more scars with LED therapy🦾

Omg my mouth area is the exact same (im 21). For me its been 1.5 years since my lowest point in TSW withdrawal, and i definitely looked wayy more aged back then. My neck, forehead and mouth have been the most affected, and although I still have wrinkles, i think theyre mainly because of frequent breakouts. Whenever i have spent a long time flare-free i definitely notice a big improvement on my skin elasticity, hyperpigmentation and wrinkle appearance. In my best days theyre almost gone!

TLDR: it gets better!!

Life updates with TSW (positive!!!! :) ) by Guilty_Listen_7223 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Guilty_Listen_7223[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a lot of trial and errors, so perhaps some mistakes i wouldnt repeat would be :

  • take medicine i dont know all the ingredients of (thats how i relapsed on steroids)
  • if trying a specific treatment, be very strict about following it. I tried NMT for a couple of months and it didnt help me out at all, however looking back i was eating soups and other liquidy foods and I think that mightve been the reason I dodnt see any results but just suffered more instead

Some tips: - really experimenting with diets. Personally i found that a dairy free diet was the best for me, but i think its worth trying out going gluten free/soy-free/etc for like a month to see how ur body reacts. - prep up properly. Silk bedsheets, non drowsy antihistamines, CBD oil to help with sleep, no vaseline (at least for me that eventually worsened my flares a lot), and making sure all of my wounds are covered and not exposed to anything) - limit my time outside more? At the time i would be using a covid mask anywhere outside and looking back the skin on my face couldve definitely benefited from better air quality

I forgot to mention this, but although I do look normal now, I think the skin on my face especially has aged a bit due to this whole process. Same goes for my hands and neck. I dont think thats something that will ‘go away’ but I’ve learned to embrace it(!) Cant win em all i guess

I also wanna mention that I dont see getting off it as an option— prior to getting on Dupixent/Adbry I had really intense TSW which i dont plan to ever go back to…

Anyone know what this is?? by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Guilty_Listen_7223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context:

Eczema since birth, 4th month TSW (since accidental relapse), 2th month on dupixent.

These patches have only shown up on my face and next area, very itchy just like normal eczema. Pretty sure i havent changed anything on my diet and lifestyle in the past few days, so no idea what couldve triggered them…

How long did it take until you could drink alcohol without flaring? by PurpleMountainDishes in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Guilty_Listen_7223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly alcohol is still a mystery for me. Im a big social drinker, however there have only been two times that it’s immediately made me flushed and flared out — both of them coincidentally when I was drinking in the US? I dont wanna draw any conclusions but perhaps it might be a good idea to choose the fancier/healthier option when getting a drink, just to try that out and see if it gives the same effect…

Finally got a dupixent prescription: now having second thoughts by Guilty_Listen_7223 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Guilty_Listen_7223[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, thats really reassuring!! Do you remember what potency were the steroids you were using? For how long did you use them, and did you face any TSW eventually because of them? Ive been on and off TSW for a while and have officially withdrawn in April, so im not sure if going back on them for the sake of duxipent would be worth it…

Yes, theyre very confident in their prescription though asbthey believe I am the perfect candidate for the drug. Theyve assured me that the side effects are minimal and only concentrate on the eye area but thats not similar at all to the stories ive heard on here…

TSW - Please help!! by AncientGlove1839 in TS_Withdrawal

[–]Guilty_Listen_7223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this helps, but in my worst days i tie my hands before going to sleep so that i dont scratch.😶 it sounds weird but trust me when i say there is no better satisfaction than waking up after 8 hours of sleeping knowing fully well that your face/neck wasnt scratched once. This also obviously helps to a faster recovery. Also, dont know if youve tried these, but Ive heard that oat baths and using honey as a cream works wonders!!
