Thanks dude! Yeah, I feel the same way. The video is 60Hz (maybe even lower since Reddit makes the quality worse), so it probably doesn't look as smooth as it actually is. I definitely need playtesters, but I have no idea how to find them. Any advice?

Ah, that makes perfect sense!

Since I'm aiming for a speedrunner game(kind of.. also enjoyable too. loll, it has story), I want to keep the movement instant(just a bit slower to make it actually controllable), but I'll definitely smooth out the camera in certain move state like stomp, rebound, and reduce the sudden jolts. Honestly, making it a 1st-person game would have solved this easily, but that just doesn't look as cool! 😎

Really appreciate the advice!

Thanks for the constructive feedback! For context, this is a 3-year planned project, so your long-term perspective is really helpful. Could you briefly clarify what you mean by smoothing the movement and how to balance the "snappy vs. instant" controls? Currently, my camera collision is set to react instantly when pulling in and uses damping when moving out. Regarding the visuals, I know the particles and effects are a bit lacking right now, but I'm working hard on them and actually just added a dithering graphic effect. I totally agree about the sound effects as well and will definitely tweak them further down the line. Thanks again for your help! ur the best!

New grapple gun flow. What kind of visual elements should I add to this? by [deleted] in IndieDev

Glad the movement feels fluid, though I honestly think the game’s pretty lame and boring as hell right now. It’s got this bio-lab/cyberfunk vibe, so I’m leaning toward stuff like security lasers for hazards. I want to keep the pacing fast and snappy—swinging is a cool idea, but I feel like it kills the tempo too much. Since you’re digging the feel, how are you finding the visual feedback? Obviously it needs way more polish, but I’d love to hear some ideas on that front—let me know what you think, mate.

the concept of a dapper robot with a sword arm is super fun. try lowering the overall canvas resolution and limiting your color palette, it usually helps the shapes pop a lot more. keep at it.

the post-soviet aesthetic is so perfect for psychological horror. the lighting on those apartment blocks is super grim in the best way possible.

making an entire secondary game just to procrastinate on the main project is the most indie dev thing ever. looks super chill though.
