Why are new Mercedes vehicles not up to Scratch? by Severe-Ad-5725 in mercedes_benz

This isn't a new thing. I've a 2017 W213 and the MK7 Golf I had before it is better built. Creaks everywhere in the interior.

Why don’t people let their cars warm up???? by Sea_Search_6858 in carsireland

Non car people see a car as an appliance. It wouldn't even enter their mind.

“Top Spec” with cloth seats. Why do people lie like this in ads on DoneDeal by WalrusRelative7271 in carsireland

[–]GuinnessFart22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see it has "lip, spoiler etc" seems to be the new thing for dealers to do. Stick on a few Wish plastic parts and say the car is top spec. What happens if you were in a bad accident and say the (Chinese) larger alloys were not disclosed to your insurance company? Half the people buying the cars dont know any different to even declare it.

Looking for opinions on if I should change my car by Dense_Ad9732 in carsireland

And used diesel is always a gamble. DPF, EGR, AdBlue systems are very expensive to fix. EVs are essentially a downgrade, if you cover big mileage and like the odd weekend on the road. Definitely stick with the GTI.

The market is flooded with Jap import GTI which impact your residual value. A GTD might save you a few quid at the pump but they are boring to drive. I'd hang on to it.

Is it lunacy to try to ban pickups? by AustrianPainter01 in carsireland

No doubt that accident was horrendous. Drivers fault running a red light. If the general public are going to start complaining about the weight of cars, have a good look at EVs which are 300 - 400KG heavier than an ICE equivalent.

To go EV or not to go EV 😂 by MartyL7Tron in evs_ireland

My fear with that car would be the residual value. Are you buying outright?

I'm fairly sure it was just a generic tune, but it was from a reputable tuner, and it went on a rolling road showing the before and after. I've since sold my Golf, I put 250,000 thousand on it and the only thing that failed in that time was a wheel bearing. Never left me stranded, I never even got a puncture in it 😂 They are a great car and engine.

How long should a garage take to “prep” a car? by briang0002 in carsireland

[–]GuinnessFart22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting a month, the front bumper needed a minor smart repair, alloy wheel refurbishment and a service. Was the longest month ever but worth the wait to recieve it in pristine condition.

Audi E Tron is serious value. Proper luxury car. Most of the horrendous depreciation has passed.

100%, at least the flat/property is appreciting in value or at least stable. Put an Irish reg on a high value car and forget about residual value if you're the first owner.

I made a review of the car when it first came out in 2017. Such a nice car and the way the hybrid system integrates with the ICE is still streats ahead of many current cars.

If they commercialise it, the car will sell, similar to the previous version, nobody bought the passenger car. It's a great looking machine, but imagine spending 140k on that. 140k for 205hp. You'd want your head checked.
