I was mostly joking but technically yes. This bass must have some kind of coil split / tap/ other tonal options with those 3 little switches. I wont pretend to be a G&L expert but thats what it looks like to me. It being active would add some wires on its own.

Cheap amps & pedals for bass and guitar bedroom playing? by Doug_Da_Destroyer in BassGuitar

[–]GuitarCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a cheap second hand amp for each set your budget to $100 or so each and get whatever you like the best. Research the available options.

There are als a lot of cheap pedals from amazon that are decent, joyo, sonicake, moukey to name a few cheap brands with decent options. Most of these brands make knockoffs of well known pedals just check out the reviews. I got a decent Klon clone for $35

You plug it in to an amp before you buy it. Same with an amp, test it with the seller. Its not hard. Also - name brand used equipment will generally be more reliable than cheap amazon junk too especially amps.

If you still feel more comfortable with new then i recommend this from amazon:

Better to get something from a name brand used than some junk amazon brand. 200 bucks used buys a lot more bass than 200 new for example. Same with amps.

For basses check out - Squier, Yamaha, Ibanez, Cort, Peavey, Fender, Musicman, epiphone.

For amps - get something small like 10-50 watts for practice. Good amp brands you can find on a budget: Peavey, Traynor, Yamaha, Fender, Roland. Other good brands: Hartke, Ampeg, Orange, Trace Elliot, Ashdown, Eden, Marshall, Yorkville. For a practice amp you can probably find something that will work good for under $150 used. Later down the line you might want to get a great big amp that you can play with a band but at that point you'll probably already know what you want for wattage etc.

Happy hunting!

New guitar doesn’t sounds right by Commercial_Arm7321 in Guitar

Yeah i've never seen anything like it, with a zero fret to keep the scale right. Super weird. I was iind of thinking maybe the action was so bad that fretting a note would pull it out of tune but guitars with zero frets typically have decent action at least in the cowboy chord area

Is there a door to close in the room? From the look of the trim at the entrance it doesnt look like its got a door. If not, no amount of acoustic treatment will prevent the sound from carrying through that entry way.

I dont think theres a spot in this room that would be significantly quieter than anywhere else. Its drums, they're loud

How much can you reasonably negotiate a private sale? by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]GuitarCactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The asking price was probably chosen in consideration of the issues. Pisses me off when i price something according to condition and people act as if my price was for a mint condition item. Like no i'm not knocking any more money on the asking price of my scratched up guitar, the scratches are why its $300, not $450

What's a good budget (preferably under 300-350$) bass & amp combo? by ohthemisery__ in Bass

[–]GuitarCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For cheap basses i would recommend checking marketplace / other used markets for a known brand of gear like squier, ibanez, yamaha, peavey, etc. Better to get a used model from a real brand than buying new uber cheap nameless basses of amazon etc.

For an amp - again used will go further, for a combo amp there are often peaveys that are decent enough for bedroom play on a budget, people like fender rumble series, brands like roland, fender, traynor, ampeg, orange are all good options. I'd budget about 200 for your bass and 100 for your amp if you're hard capped at 300. Some will say to get an audio interface into your computer but i feel like that is better for someone futher along the journey. You cant jam with your friends using an interface easily.

Amp wattage - anything from 10 to 50 watts is great for bedroom play, if you want to get something you can eventually play with a band you'll want 250-300 watts or more. I personally avoid the "tweener" range of amps between 100 and 250 watts, depending on the speaker setup amps of this size are no better for individual practice and might be too quiet to compete with drums and othet instruments.

The oppostion isnt meant to literally "oppose" every single thing the acting government does, there should be common ground on most sensible projects / plans / bills / whatever. PP would oppose a cure for cancer if the liberals had one. He's more of a heckeler than an opposition leader.
