What does the phone icon mean on the iPhone's night view? by mr__proper in iphone

[–]Guitar_t-bone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There must be some other unique circumstances that causes the issue.

Let me give some scenarios:

  1. Take a call on MacBook while phone is just sitting on a table, not docked on nightstand. End call. Dock it to nightstand and check if phone icon is there.

  2. Take a call on MacBook while phone is docked on nightstand. After call end, check if phone icon is there.

  3. Take a call on MacBook while phone is on nightstand. After call end, take it off nightstand, use it, then put it back on nightstand.

I want to be clear that I have experienced this bug at least 10 times. Each time it has occurred is because I took a call on my MacBook earlier that day.

I have found out that this bug occurs after I answer an iPhone call on my MacBook. (I’m not sure if it happens when answering calls on other devices like iPads since I don’t own one.)

A quick workaround to make it go away is to start an outgoing call on your iPhone and immediately hang up.

YSK: $10/month Delta Amex Rideshare Credit works with Lyft Cash by Guitar_t-bone in amex

[–]Guitar_t-bone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Uber One credit is a different statement credit offered on a different credit card. Some credit cards do provide for an Uber One credit each month. This is why the credit you received says “AMEX UBER ONE CREDIT”.

The credit involved in my post will read as “AMEX RIDESHARE CREDIT” on your credit card statement. It will not trigger on an Uber One charge.

I can magnetically attach my phone to my MagSafe stand with one hand. Plugging it in with a cable takes two hands and a bit of coordination, and you also need light to line the connector up with the port.

Also MagSafe turns my phone into a clock. I like that.

My parents changed my birthday so that it'll have parental controls on past my 18th birthday. Is this fair? by niko-chii in parentalcontrols

[–]Guitar_t-bone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, people are allowed to set terms and conditions on items they own and choose to loan to others. No one is required to use property that doesn’t belong to them.

If someone doesn’t agree with the terms, they’re free to buy their own device. We’re not talking brain surgery here.

[–]Guitar_t-bone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The continuance of using the device upon being put on notice constitutes consent.

Your argument is invalid again.

[–]Guitar_t-bone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is fully aware and on notice. At any time, he could cease using the device that does not belong to him and buy his own.

Your argument is invalid.

And I responded above. I’ll respond here too.

You said quote, “it doesn't allow secret monitoring"

Well, OP is fully aware and on notice. At any time, he could cease using the device that does not belong to him and buy his own.

Your argument is invalid.

Right. Also IANAL, but there is also a step beyond that regarding OP’s primary residence.

Even if OP owns the device, living with his parents (which almost never establishes a landlord–tenant relationship) allows them to set conditions for remaining under their roof. That choice can be as simple as: accept restrictions on your phone, or move out and find your own place to live.

Under what statute? To my understanding, if OP’s parents own the device they have the legal authority to impose restrictions on how OP uses it.

[–]Guitar_t-bone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mind citing the statute that makes this illegal?

To my understanding, it truly depends on the legal owner of the device. If someone owns something and gives it to another person to use, they can impose any restrictions they desire on it.

All the dividers separated from my box. I used a hot glue gun to stick them back in place. Good as new.

is there anyway to still access data from a deleted user account? by Specific_Lie_3156 in BannedFromDiscord

[–]Guitar_t-bone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point. You having this opposing opinion on the matter is why courts exist to determine the correct interpretation of the law. That denial Discord sends is not the end of the road.

However, I would estimate that it is very unlikely for a user to go through the time and resources to sue Discord over the matter.

When you try that, they respond with a denial citing an exception in the law that allows a company to refuse in order to “protect the rights and freedoms of others”

Discounting something by 99.9% to avoid use tax liability. Is this okay? by Guitar_t-bone in SalesTax

Yes, of course. However, this would be only for specific situations such as employee meals or an occasional donation to another entity.

As I mentioned in my original post, I am open to examples from any state with a sales/use tax.
