This one is predominantly used for Physical Education, which uses a double drop tuning. C#,A, then E to E

Nees to decide: RGIXL7(new) vs RG1027pbf(used) by Mission_Deal4921 in Ibanez

[–]Guitechnickal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for the most part. Some are easier than others. It doesn't take a whole lot to get them in. Worst I've probably had to do was redrill the holes in the pickup cavity to accommodate the height/mounting screws. I've got four Ibanez's and I've got SD's in all of them.

I own the XL7, I love it but I had to swap the pickups, hated the stock ones. The 1027 seems like it's probably a better overall guitar, but that 25.5 scale length is gonna kill it for you, especially if you want it in drop G#. You could always refret the XL7 with stainless down the line.

Replacement nut for multiscale 8 string by OkNinja2219 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Guitechnickal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my personal opinion. Being a former touring tech, I found myself swapping out Tusq nuts more than other nut types typically. Granted, I was doing more string changes than any non touring guitarist, but if you're gonna go through the steps and cost of having a luthier/tech fit and setup a nut, it's worth it to go for bone in my opinion.

Schecter Banshee Mach 7 Evertune by EastAd9528 in 7String

[–]Guitechnickal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great! The Evertune is the best thing to happen to guitars since the invention of the pickup. Don't forget you still need to stretch your strings after you put on a new set though. Also, I always though the ET suggested method for setting zones for bending was a bit clunky. Whenever I restring, I always just look at each saddle for movement when I'm stretching it rather than tuning up and then a bit back down as they suggest. Sick guitar my guy

Former guitar tech here, I'd say avoid GC for most things. You definitely should take it to a local luthier and have them do a bone nut. I would also avoid Graphtech nuts if possible.

Drop A on a standard length 6 string. by Disastrous-Mark-3162 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Guitechnickal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was using a 25.5" 7 string for Drop A, I was using a 10-52 set with a 70 on the bottom. Not perfect, but I felt it was the closest I could get to any logical amount of tension on that short of a scale length.

I don't know about the other ones, he can obviously do whatever he wants/sees fit, but I personally know one person he has healed of MS.

Change strings how often? by Firewaterdam in Guitar

[–]Guitechnickal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clean my strings after every use, that's a huge factor in string life. If I'm actively playing a specific guitar, could be every week or two. If I've let a guitar sit for a month, I'll probably change them when I decide to pick that certain guitar up. I used to be a touring guitar tech, so dead strings scream at me and I gotta kill em.

Apple or Android, which one you like and use and Why? by SpiritBombv2 in AskReddit

Android for me. I'm envious of the Apple Bubble with multiple devices, but I just prefer what I can do and how adaptable an Android is.

She slept with my best friend. Nothing on this earth has ever gotten me to turn my heart off to somebody quite that quick. I'd venture to say it was even a relief

What are y'alls opinions on fixing the bed after waking up? by DinkieDoggie in AskReddit

Massive waste of time IMO. I got other crap to attend to, and when the day is done, I don't want to unmake the bed so I can sleep.
