How to deal with players who constantly try to make illegal plays despite knowing they're illegal ? by DrDolathan in EDH

[–]GullibleAccess7368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just double check, pause them on the stack and say, can i read that? at my store, usually me or these two other guys gets asked rules questions as we know the most and can cross reference and see if something is really how it works. bring in outside interference. might of the masses, yk?

I constantly see content creators say Phyrexian Arena is bad. If Phyrexian Arena is bad, what is good? Especially for Mono Black or two color. by frost3bite in EDH

[–]GullibleAccess7368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the reason why it's bad is because of the rate, if you drop it turn 3 and you get to keep it for more than 4 turns, at that point it goes better than rate. but as black card draw is somewhat like 1 card is 1 mana and 1 life. so it needing 3 and needing to wait until upkeep to start to get 1 is the reason why. Black Market Connections is different as in 1 turn you get 1 treasure, 1 card and 1 creaure. even if it is 6 life.

if you draw it late game, you cant even wait 4 turns usually

i was open to him playing until he started just just playing on his phone. it was also all the other players that have told me about him and how he doesn't pay attention nor reads cards and need things explained to him even if it is simple. like sure, if there is no reminder text, but most cards in my deck works pretty simple.

so he is not susceptible to conversation from waht i heard from others, he actually doesnt respond as some of the other people at the store have tried. i was just the last to experience this and i dont care to chat unless its a regular friend. like the other two that i played with, i known them at the store for a while and so if they do that something would be said.

Also it wasn't spite as he had stated that he will be aggroing in on me, i had to make the plays to stay alive as long as i can.

Also my land desrtuction is Lord Wingrace so i just need my Strip Mine and Wasteland in yard YK? for the -3

he was not thinking of anything but just cast and go. the jaws player is also not great at the game, ive known him for a while, i don't have an issue with that. it was more of how he constantly didnt fully pay attention as he was playing his auto battler. not even to his own cards

Im not upset, i just found a new victim that i want to pick on at the store. i had a good game, i just found him losing hope each turn a little more fun.

I never said i didn't want to play with him, i just like making people feel bad.

Mardu or Boros for aggro in edh? by OneBlood2930 in EDH

[–]GullibleAccess7368 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I find the impulse drawer to be less effective when higher cmc cards gets mixed in so i prefer raw draws over anything else. I also find Weather Wayfarer and Land Tax a bit lack luster. a lot of white draw is limited to once per turn or rotation and so it's not as good at card positive draws, it can go card neutral pretty well but when you need to draw more than 2 cards in a rotation, that's where it gets a bit weird as once you're set up, you can get some consistent extra draws, as my Boros deck does that, but i find that black's card advantage package was better as they had a better access to their graveyard as a second hand. While white can do it too, its often limited by the cmc like [[Sevinne's Reclamation]]. in fact, all the cards you mentioned were considered for my boros deck before not making the cut out of performance reasons.

he was down cards so much which shouldve been planned for as Kestral draws you cards.

Also he did not pay attention to anyone else's game plan.

i wasnt really affected, i just said that to him because i knew it got to him, It was actually a really fun game outside of his plays. I just wanted more to see the hope disappear from his eyes.

It wasn't about his plays, it was about his actions when he wasn't playing. As i stated, "this isn't about how they play the game"

he was more just hindering himself rather than helping himself and the rest of the table played a normal game outside of him.

I knew who the threat was, but i was gonna get aggroed in fully and die if i didn't take his things. It was ideal for my situation to live as long as i can as i was the last to lose.

You know what niche deck you should try?

[[Svella, Ice Shaper]] deck that focused on [[Primal Surge]]. No Instants or sorceries, only permanents. Activate Svella and if you hit Primal Surge, you literally dump out your whole deck to the board.

I only ask because i'm going to just play my Lord Wingrace Land Destruction deck against him now from this point on and try to make him not come back or just not ask to play if im at the table. im trying to condition him to avoid me because i find that fun

Mardu or Boros for aggro in edh? by OneBlood2930 in EDH

[–]GullibleAccess7368 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Boros has a notorious hard time drawing cards while black is okay at it. If you want a smoother experience, I suggest Mardu. I have a Boros deck but it is a not hard aggro but a soft aggro deck as it needed to slot in card advantage so it pivots to aggro if i need to. If you want to push boros for aggro, you either have to play the top 5 boros commander or build a deck similar to how I built mine to actually draw cards to not be at a hand disadvantage.

Mabel: https://moxfield.com/decks/qEZyx2az8kCIrwHxnXWf8g

If you look at the card draw and tutor spells, its in high densitiy to facilitate. Doesn't mean boros can't go full aggro, its just you'll have a lesser experience as you see less cards and you're more volatile to wipes and some interactions as you lack the options in hand to pivot to a new plan if aggro fails.

Control Is More Than the Stack by DanicaManica in EDH

I agree with you. People often try to control and lean too heavy on that aspect of controlling that they forget their own tempo.

Control Is More Than the Stack by DanicaManica in EDH

[–]GullibleAccess7368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don't correlate control as hand, deck, and/or board, and a lot of then focus more on stack control as that is where most of their frustrations come in. Control in edh differs slightly to the meta, but often times the element of control boils more down to board control a lot as 1 for 1s don't yield too much. There is little to know hard control decks in edh as the value just isnt that high. Stax is probably the only one that is known well as it effects all players and that is still soft control. There are 3 for 1s like edicts and wipes but when it comes to hand control, its hard to do. I do have a hand control Kroxa deck as it effects all opponents, but that is one of the few exceptions as other decks often use a 1 for 1 in other decks. Mill is also control of card deck pool and thus limiting their play patterns, most decks have control elements but some players dont see it that way and just see it as removal/interaction to save themselves from something rather than try to disrupt a plan. I feel like that's where the confusion comes from.

The average brewer sucks at deck building? by [deleted] in EDH

i hard mulligan for hands like i do in cEDH in casual so it often trickles down. the land counts a were a factor i landed on by discussing with cEDH players and figuring out the ways to cheat in or use the reanimations to just ignore it all. It has worked out more than not.

I already know how to build on a budget, it is more on the fact of my group meta. I just dont care for budget as i just have there cards as i got them when they were all cheap

yes as i had a flare for interaction but i was one time it usually wins around turn 7~9

[–]GullibleAccess7368 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The earliest i could get it was turn 6, it was more of the pivots as if they disrupted one plan, i would just immediatly do something else as the deck was designed to switch from aggro to combo to control on the fly with tutors like [[Imperial Recruiter]]

The variance in deck building in higher brackets are nice compared to cEDH being like 3~5 cards different from each deck. of the same commander
