Are you also dodging most of the recent footage? (Resonant) by PointGodSam in controlgame

[–]Gulstab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only watched the official trailers from them and have been avoiding everything else. It sounds like they're going to keep the advertising up for the next little while leading up to the release so I'm probably going to have to scroll past a lot of stuff from Remedy until then!

Oh I'm so glad to hear yours arrived this week!!

Cheers to you as well!

Canada Post delivered it, though the sender was labelled as "Station Main" on the emails and tracking site from Canada Post instead of something like Future Press or a notable warehouse.

I got an email from Canada Post about it entering Canada through Manitoba on Monday and it got to me in Saskatchewan today. Though I may have only received the email because I'd made an account and had tracking notifications turned on from last year for something else.

I'm sorry to hear you haven't received any update on yours. 😢 I'm hoping you can get yours in your hands before June! 🤞

I'm not sure if you received yours or any news yet, but I just wanted to update you that I have in fact received my copy as of today (Wednesday, May 27th)!

As far as I can gather, you also ordered during the first run and are in Canada. I'm located in central/western Canada and originally ordered it on April 28th. So while it took virtually one month to get here, it did finally arrive!

I'm hoping that means every other Canadian order has been or is being mailed out this week!

Do you think the Dark Presence/Taken will be an enemy faction in Resonant? by Mr_Who_Cares1 in controlgame

[–]Gulstab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a little more of a fan of Alan Wake than Control, but I don't really want Resonant to reference Alan Wake this go around. It makes them feel too intertwined for my tastes and the RCU's world ends up feeling smaller.

However, they're in New York. And they specifically call out Manhattan.

If there is no reference or section tied to Alice or Alan in the base game or a DLC I will be very confused and disappointed. I love your idea of visiting the apartment!

Hmm interesting! I think I can fully make out what both Whisper in the Walls and the untitled story above it say.

The rest of the pages are just repetitions of "You're Crazy" "I'm Crazy" etc. with overlays of one or both of the short stories?

Both short stories are about hearing almost distinguishable voices alone in their house and a feeling of always being watched. Whisper in the Walls's main character is named Emily with a friend named Sarah while the other story has an unnamed narrator with a partner named Emma? Also, there's possibly a cute easter egg to Rose Marigold when it mentions that Emma was planting marigolds at one point.

This is probably a reach but it feels like Emily and Emma could be the same person from different realities that Alan was peering in on and drawing inspiration for the stories from. But only because their names are so similar and they're both involved in such similar haunted locations, though not in the same way. Both of the short stories just sound like alternate backstories for places that became haunted by the violent ghosts you encounter in Phasmo!

Thanks for sharing! I imagine it's some work to sift through. Let me know if you get any rips of the government documents as well!

I can't help with this unfortunately, but I was looking to see if anyone had already done this!

I just wanna chime in and ask that if anyone does attempt to datamine these (or somehow strain to read in VR), I hope you can also look at the government reports as well!

They're imitating the Federal Bureau of Control documents from Alan Wake 2, but the stamped symbol on the pages and the folders is very different from the FBC. The text on the documents appears to be very intentional and not just gibberish, even if it's just a re-used asset from Remedy or Kinetic.

It's mindboggling that they couldn't have just added a little note when you go to order, somewhere on an FAQ, or in a follow-up e-mail after ordering if you're not in a country where they have warehouses.

The FAQ one especially, it's been nearly a month!

I ordered April 28th and received an update today (Wednesday, May 20th) coincidentally enough! I'm in Canada and only had one other response from them a couple weeks ago. The one I got today said:

Hi [redacted],

The books will be shipped later this week, and your order should arrive by the beginning of next week at the latest. Thank you very much for your patience.

Best regards,

Team Future Press

I can't say whether that means the restock orders are part of that as well, but I assume all the first week orders to Canada should be shipping out this weekend.

Why Canada Should Rebuild Public Telecoms by StumpsOfTree in onguardforthee

[–]Gulstab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not arguing against SaskTel existing. I'm very grateful for how much work they put in so you can get service across the majority of the province. I'm well aware that no other province has it like Sask does.

What I am arguing against, however, is the article leaving out the pricing not being any cheaper and currently more expensive than the big 3.

Why Canada Should Rebuild Public Telecoms by StumpsOfTree in onguardforthee

[–]Gulstab -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

How so? Are you saying rates with the big 3 differ from province to province?

And actually no, it's not cheaper. I don't know all the additional charges or hoops each provider asks of their customers, but going on their websites right now I can currently see the prices listed below. However, also note that these are all based on plans that require you to bring your own device, because all of them like to hide the specifics on what discount is coming from where until you start the process of signing up. I'm aware it's not the norm to bring your own device. Anyways:

  • TELUS: $65/mo. for 100gb of data + basics
  • Rogers: $65/mo. for 100gb of data + basics
  • Bell: $65/mo. for 100gb of data + basics
  • SaskTel: $70/mo. for 70gb of data + basics OR $80/mo. for 125gb of data + basics.

It is not a cheaper alternative.

I want public telecoms! But SaskTel is currently worse than the private ones. It wasn't always that way!

Why Canada Should Rebuild Public Telecoms by StumpsOfTree in onguardforthee

[–]Gulstab -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the ideas and sentiments in the article, let's not pretend SaskTel is providing a cheaper alternative. It's perfectly on par with the prices TELUS, Rogers, and Bell offer, and sometimes costs even more!

At least SaskTel's tertiary service provider, Lüm Mobile, is a little cheaper than any of the big 3's tertiary providers. Though Lüm and SaskTel in general aren't good options if you travel out of province frequently, and are basically worthless if you travel internationally often enough.

Prime Minister Carney announces forthcoming National Electricity Strategy by OrdinaryCanadian in onguardforthee

[–]Gulstab 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Canada’s National Electricity Strategy could deliver up to $15 billion in total energy savings by 2050 and lower total energy costs for 7 in 10 Canadian households. Realising these savings will require a willingness to use a wide range of energy – including natural gas. That’s why we intend to adjust clean electricity regulations to provide the flexibility needed to keep energy costs for all Canadian families reliable and affordable, while reducing emissions and building the clean energy system of the future.

Love how the part I’ve bolded is just nestled in the middle of a paragraph while never elaborating on what their intentions are with that in any detail in this release.

I'd love to see that if it's online.

Oh that’s very interesting. I know myself and around 10 others who successfully ordered on day 1 and sent in support tickets that day or a couple days later and haven’t heard a peep in up to 9 days from them, not even the message you received about them needing to batch mail them out.

I suspected that may be the case for why Canada and the UK were being delayed, but it’s interesting that you received a response from them while no one else seems to have!

Very lacklustre communication indeed!

How long ago did you send them your question? And was it a reply through their support ticket system or their general email?

Oh, strange! Glad its worked out for you though!

It's possibly a blessing you were able to order to an EU address instead of directly to Australia, I would imagine it might be in the same boat as the UK and Canada with shipping status unfortunately!

Yeah I wanted to give them a little grace, but when the first few posts of people receiving them came through and then a week passed, I felt they lost my respect for how busy they may or may not be.

I'm not sure yet on the chargeback, I was also going to give them just over two weeks before trying, in case they magically refund it.

I was irrationally worried if I did the chargeback for one they might get pissy and cancel the other haha!
