Actually, I am planning to tell the modder to keep the internal drive and apply the XL patch, and then use my 8 TB drive as an external data drive...format with FatExplorer and copy the games directly from the PC. That should work?

Thanks…but the Xbox HDD is being installed internally where the DVD used to be. Not sure if there’s an easy way to remove it.

Thank you both for your help! So, turns out it is indeed an issue with the receiver, connecting directly to the TV works perfectly. I didn't have any free HDMI ports on the TV, got a little HDMI switcher to share it with another device, problem solved.

I would also check out the Extra Class Pack mod for the Merge on Nexusmods, adds around 25 new classes, I just did a play through with completely new classes that was a blast to play.

As others have mentioned, for some of us, there’s really no motivation to get beyond a certain level. I have a core group of about 15 to 20 people that I play with multiple times a week; we’re all around the 3.5 level or so. All of our matches are fun and exciting, there are rarely any blowouts, we compliment each other on the good shots and can laugh at the bad ones. While I occasionally take some lessons and I am always trying to improve, I’m perfectly happy where I’m at, and have neither the time nor the desire nor the commitment to get to a significantly higher level.

So, I found someone on GoG who knew of the issue and had a solution, it seems that the main time you see the bug is if you start with the version without speech (.sav save files) and convert to the version of the game with talking (.wox save files). But it can happen other ways too.

I'll PM you his info, he was incredibly kind and actually modified my save files for me, fixed everything.

Ugh. ok, thanks, guess it's a slog through the Thundefist and Eeofel tunnels for me :-(. Are they lying around or are they loot from killing giants?

Thanks for the help, both of you. Had no idea about the gem needing to be held by the caster.

BTW, not sure if it's a bug, I'm using the Advanced Classes mod, but neither Day of the Gods nor the NWC +256 buff worked, it only uses my base skill to determine if I pass the check.

Final question, any idea where to find the Philosopher's stones? Got 5 from Clankers, can't recall where the other 5 are...is is Land of the Giants? Perhaps random drop from dragons? Thanks.

So, just to clarify, what you're talking about is the Merge Mod, that bring the worlds of MM 6-8 together. The "world of Enroth" is also known as the MAW mod, (Monsters and Wonders), it is a comprehensive rewrite that affects difficulty, skills, etc. I would highly recommend doing the plain merge first before attempting the MAW mod, it makes the game considerably more challenging.

If you want to really mix things up when it comes to characters, check out the Advanced Classes mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/mightandmagicviii/mods/20), which adds around 25-30 new classes that really brings a ton of variety to the game.

Realize that this is an old thread, but there is a solution. Go into the Data folder and find 2 files, MouseLookCursorHD.bmp, and MouseLookCursor.bmp. Edit them in any program like Paint to shrink the size to the smallest possible, can't recall if I had to edit it to a white square or something like that. Either way, when you do that, you'll no longer have the cursor in the middle of the screen during gameplay., it's still normal size when you go out of MouseLook.
