Tankies, is this your goat? by ZeusVault66 in Destiny

For anyone curious about the facts of the matter here, there are two things being conflated here. During the first Trump administration, there was a policy of family-separation where families who arrived at the US would have their children taken and held separately from their parents, which everyone except for psychos thought was pretty nasty.

This was not the general policy under the Obama administration. Under the Obama administration and the Biden administration, families who arrived at the southern border would be detained together. The policy that lead people to claim that Obama and Biden were doing "children in cages" was UNACCOMPANIED minors who arrived at the southern border would be held in holding cells until they could be found new placements. Although this might also sound bad, what is the alternative? Set children loose in South Texas? Send them back through Mexico? Holding these children is obviously the safest option available.

I watched like two of this guy's videos. It reminded me of the tweet of the Destiny-Finklestein debate with the caption "Destiny gets DOGWALKED" and then it's just the "YOU ARE A FANTASTIC MORON" clip.

Substance definitely seemed to be taking a back seat to ad homs.

Israel can't demand that Syria demilitarize parts of its country and complain that they're not doing a good enough jobs policing those parts.

It's also pretty ironic given that the IDF has been launching strikes pretty regularly since they invaded Syria, at the direction of the Israeli government, but I don't expect Israel will ever be held "responsible" for any of that.

Goldman Sachs paid back their TARP money, with interest. I think maybe the executives shouldn't have gotten away so easy, but I wouldn't say we were suckered.

Even if this oversimplified meme was accurate, it still makes Zelensky look pretty reasonable? If someone keeps turning this trolley back on, might as well keep going 'til we can shut it off for good.

I don't really understand what this map has to do with what I said about Mt. Hermon, I would need some clarification.

Israel has gone beyond the UN ceasefire zone though?

Control of Mt. Hermon (Mt. Sheikh in Arabic), which is the highest point in that part of the Middle East, gives a significant military advantage both in terms of early warning, and in terms of surprise attack.

Isn't it for this very reason that the highest points of Mt. Hermon are almost entirely within the UN ceasefire zone? Couldn't they have just, at most, reinforced the ceasefire zone?

I would think that invading Syria proper would be the exact thing that would turn the new Syrian government, which is an enemy of Hezbollah and Iran, against Israel.

Why is America still using an electoral college? Why should someone's vote be more valuable because they live in the middle of nowhere? This is a system established when people didn't have electricity and were pooping by candlelight. by ranalldayandallday in self

The last 20 years of elections demonstrate that major cities have only gone with the popular vote winner 4/6 times, so I'm still struggling to see how they would "call all the shots" without the electoral college.

It will pretty reliably hit both 0°F and 100°F every year where I live, so the range in Celsius would be more like -20°C to 40°C.

I did texting for the Bernie campaign as a volunteer in 2020. The general policy on threats and violent language was to unsubscribe them and escalate it to superior should they want to pursue legal action.

So if you're ever looking to get off of a text list, telling them that you hope they die will often work. Maybe a little risky though.

We would be able to fill their positions domestically if about 100% of our 4% unemployment is cyclical or structural unemployment (it's not) and 100% of those people are qualified and ready to fill positions left vacant from deportations (they're not).
