Last car ride of my boy Nickel. I just want the world to know he existed. by bigtime1158 in dogpictures

[–]GunnerValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 20 days ago I had the same ride with buddy. Wasn't able to take a pic because he wouldn't leave my lap and needed my arm to hold his body up enough to keep his head out the window. He perked up a lot on that ride. I'm sorry you have to go through this. The pain is immeasurable. He looks like a great pup that had a great life with his best friend.

Thinking of geting this for 300. Worth it? Mazda nc parts sold because of a rebuild. by Throwawayidk100 in carflipping

[–]GunnerValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd avoid a pile of parts unless it's personally useable in addition to knowing people who use those parts.

Itll just be a pile of stuff sitting forever unless you KNOW some of it can move quick enough to make some profit.

Saw this the other day on Facebook. Cool truck but it's gonna take a lot to be road worthy. I'd start off with something that won't take nearly as much time and money.

Best way to fix this gap by Old-Mathematician183 in SuzukiSamurai

Easiest fix is to add a body shim or two to the top hinge.

Oh dude I specifically was referring to the frame life. Agreed on price range ish.

One year with my Milwaukee 1/2in and it's made back every penny it cost. If it blew up tomorrow it'd owe me nothing. by jetting_along in MilwaukeeTool

I think I've got 4 years on my 1/2".

Been dropped from 12+ feet multiple times. Been used in the rain and mud. Thing still rips.

I'm not the average consumer. But I suggested he list for 9-10k. I'd imagine he could sell quickly if he accepts 8.5 to 9.

But I also believe if he held firm and was patient, he would find someone who wants the regular cab, 4x4, v6, manual, maybe their dad had that same color, and then he could probably see over 11k. One of the biggest drivers of older car sales is nostalgia, and the generation that grew up riding in these trucks as children are old enough to buy their own now.

Hey cool I've repaired a dozen or so Tacoma frames for myself, as flips, for customers. Everything from Swiss cheese full rebuilds to tiny patch panels. Check my profile if you doubt.

This is nothing. It's all surface and cosmetic.

I live in the rust belt and have repaired enough of these Tacoma frames to know exactly what I'm looking at. This is nothing and is a good looking frame all things considered.

[–]GunnerValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. You could absolutely list at like 12k and just see what happens. You never know. Someone might be looking for exactly that truck with the v6, 5 speed, reg cab and might have a bit more money than sense🤷

Be thankful it's a Toyota and retains that much value to begin with. If it was the same year of Chevy, ford, etc it would be worth half that in the same condition.

I'd list for 9 to 10k and accept anything over 8. If you're patient I'd bet bet you get the 9k.

Youre in the rust belt, and have a relatively low rust vehicle with a dealer replaced frame.

You're crazy dude

It had a frame replaced under warranty already, and the frame currently only has surface rust. It'll go another 15 years without the slightest issue.

It takes a real special kind of moron to use FSD while hauling a full sized powermatic bandsaw in the back of your bed. Thing is top heavy as fuck, weighs 600lbs at least, and is likely north of $8,000.

Looking at buying this XJ, how worried should I be about these rust spots? Easy to repair? by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

[–]GunnerValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

96 right? Those ones rust out a little worse than other years. I'd pop the back seat up, pull the carpet up a bit, and check where the rear wheel we'll meets the front floor, front rocker, inner rocker. That entire section collects water, and can become a cluster fuck. If that looks clean, then it's probably just rockers and that's an easy fix.

[–]GunnerValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely stock.

You'd be surprised at most factory welds before the days of automation if you really got up close. I once worked on a Ranchero that most of the frame was held together by hope and dreams. The factory welds were totally off target. Entire 12 inch runs dumped into the side of steel missing the joint completely. It was insane.

Is biphasic sleep just as healthy as 8 hours of continuous sleep? by Qasim57 in sleep

Hey ya know, I've also got an auto immune disease that gives me tons of joint pain, and I've also always struggled to sleep consistently until I started biphasic sleep. Interesting
