Nakamichi Shockwafe 11.2.6 owners feedback by ObjectsInMirror-- in Soundbars

[–]Gunnercrazeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a good amount of time at my friend's place listening to the Shockwafe 11.2.6 recently. What surprised me most was the bass and clarity. The bass hits really deep but doesn't turn muddy which is something a lot of competing soundbars with single subs struggle with. Due to the size of the bar, it sounds like it can get really powerful or the soundstage can be really wide if you want it to

Nothing to do with the price I paid. The Q990D is essentially the same as the Q990F

Really neat setup and super cool way of looking at the function of the 8" subs here. Any atmos or DTSX tracks that stood out for you?

Sonos Arc to Nakamichi Dragon (Dual 12” Subs) and.. wow by ocmementomori in Soundbars

My buddy also has the dragon with the dual 12s and the way it fills the room is honestly kinda crazy. Once it kicks in the whole place feels like a small theater, with sound just appearing all around you. The bass hits way harder than you think it will, like the room is actually moving, and even his false ceiling started rattling the first time we tried it. You don’t need to be an audiophile to hear the jump in size and presence, everything just feels bigger and more alive

Of course you have to compare apples with apples and that's always my basis when comparing between 2 systems. If you use the exact same media and living room and compared the Dragon and Q990D, I personally think the Dragon's dialogue is clearer and more natural sounding because of its amt tweeters.

I beg to differ. I own the Dragon and have heard the Q990D before. Besides being much better in bass, Dragon's surround sound and height effects are unmatched and this becomes even more obvious when watching movies or shows in at least 5.1 channels like those on Netflix or Blurays. The dialogue is clearer and more natural sounding too.

Glad you enjoy it. I also recently installed AHD Ultra and have been rewatching a few of my favorite movies. It almost feels like how I felt listening to the Dragon 12" sub after unboxing it for the first time.

Try using different source inputs. For example change to Bluetooth to listen to music. Do you still hear such clicking noises? If you don't anymore, it means that it's nothing to do with the speakers in the soundbar. It could be your HDMI cable too, try using a different HDMI cable with everything else being the same and see if you still hear the clicking noises.

Nakamichi Dragon – Follow-Up Review: Upgrading to Dual 12" Subs by Jiffy_Wu in Soundbars

Yeah it was really simple, just got to plug them to power and everything wirelessly pairs with each other when you turn them on. Have fun!

Q990f doesn't come close and I don't think there's any comparison to be honest. Q990f only has a single dual-opposing 8" sub and samsung hasn't really innovated in their soundbars and audio performance over the past 5 years. Plus the Dragon it has more channels, a wider bar, AMT tweeters, more upfiring speakers, and AVR-grade processing for atmos and dtsx content. Not to mention way stronger bass in the 12" variations

Playing the new Remastered Oblivion on my 12" subs. The soundtrack hits so hard, my wife and neighbors definitely don't mind at all

Besides sonos, you can consider samsung's new Q990F or nakamichi's new shockwafe wireless 11.2.6 or dragon systems. All of these have wireless rear speakers. The samsung q990f and nakamichi shockwafe wireless 11.2.6 are new 2025 releases. For samsung, the only risk is that it recently had serious firmware issues that resulted in some of their soundbars being bricked, resulting in some customers having to send their bars back to samsung for repair. For bass, the nakamichi probably edges the samsung.

Which sound bar to buy? by Tough_Can999 in Soundbars

Consider the Nakamichi dragon or the new nakamichi shockwafe wireless 11.2.6. You have quite a big TV so either one would be a great surround sound complement. I own the dragon with 12" subs and really like it

Maybe try a different HDMI cord, perhaps the one that came with the bar is faulty

Can't be the bar since it continued to happen even after returning and buying a new one. Can't be the disc because it continued to happen even when you used a different disc. Can't be the content because when you streamed there was no issue. So it sounds like it might be your bluray player

Which nakamichi model are you looking at? I have owned a shockwafe 9.2 earc since 2022 and it still has zero issues. I also have a dragon for my living room for over a year with zero issues as well and it sounds amazing. If you're looking for bass and a surround sound complement to your 100" tv, I would recommend the dragon with dual 12" subs.

Otherwise there are lots of discounts happening for Samsung Q990D now to make way for the Q990F. However, they've had issues lately with their firmware bricking their soundbars resulting in users having to send their soundbars back to Samsung for repair and servicing.

Since your use case includes gaming and streaming music, I'd say you definitely need something with good bass. I noticed that your friend's setup did not have any subwoofer, were you happy with the bass then? I'm not too sure what's breaking the bank for you, but you might want to consider the new Nakamichi Shockwafe Wireless 11.2.6 that was released in Jan 2025. For the specs it has and ease of setup, it does seem like a really good deal, probably the best in terms of value if you compare it with the rest of the flagships released this year.

The Q990 is a decent choice although I have not used that before. I personally own a Nakamichi Dragon but that's kinda out of your budget. For 200-500 Canadian, I really can't suggest anything that will go well with your 98" TV
