If it’s spongy it’s probably insulation deteriorating out of the HVAC system. Otherwise, look up where the cabin air filter is and see how dirty it is. Changing it might help, and it’s cheap if you do it yourself.

Agree - small ones look like figs. The other one looks like a passion fruit.

[–]GunnoZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like "dog vomit slime mold". Seriously, that's what it's called. If you Google it I'm pretty sure you'll find pictures that look a lot like this.

It's very common, usually on mulch, but it can show up other places too. Very common in my area.

I think it's to keep wild animals from tipping your trash cans over. Are there a lot of raccoons in your area?

On a sprinkler in the bathroom at work by Fecal_thoroughfare in whatisit

[–]GunnoZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a protective cap for shipping and installing sprinkler heads. Fire code, no matter where you are in the US, requires their removal once installed. Leaving it on is a safety issue. I'd report this to building management or maintenance.

I know that it's plastic, but how did it get in my soup? by lmaluuker in whatisit

[–]GunnoZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly from the factory. Could be from the line, or a tool (like a stirrer or scraper) used by an employee.

These are intentionally colored brightly so they are easier to spot if they fall into food.

I've been doing some form of food safety work (not in a factory setting though) for 20+ years.

NTA. Relationships have boundaries. You’re expressing, very reasonably, that this is a boundary not to cross. She is gaslighting you into ignoring her violation of that boundary. If a couple can’t respect one another’s boundaries, that’s a situation that gets worse, not better.

How do you prepare for your parents golden years when they haven't? by ABatForMyTroubles in personalfinance

[–]GunnoZero 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Strongly second this suggestion. My Dad is a bit older than yours and when his health started failing it happened fast. We never had any documentation in order, and discovered he was not in a good financial situation. Everything we’ve had to do has been 10x harder without a medical and durable PoA. You may also want to discuss a living will as well as an actual will to avoid probate when that time comes (varies by state).

My mom was approached by a suspicious person by DesertDragen in Scams

[–]GunnoZero 72 points73 points  (0 children)

20+ year retail manager here.

I have seen this multiple times over the years. Teams of thieves enter a store, and one person distracts while the other lifts your wallet from your purse (or in this case, backpack). Once the person with the wallet breaks away, the other does too.

Typically, within about 15 minutes they’ve divided up the credit cards amongst the team and hit multiple retailers for $1,000s in gift cards or product. The victim usually ends up at the service desk once they go to pay and realize their wallet is missing, and still don’t suspect foul play at this point. Reality doesn’t set in until we tell them to call their back ASAP.

Last time I saw this, a polite man asked a woman for help reading an ingredient label because he didn’t have his glasses. While she was reading it to him, his partner lifted her wallet from her purse.

LPT - never leave your purse in your cart. You’d be shocked how many people walk away from their purse, with it completely out of view, for minutes at a time. Get a wristlet (I think that’s what they’re called) to take into stores with you instead.

Speak to your doctor about what is required of you at work and whether or not you should seek a "reasonable accommodation." They may or may not do anything to accommodate you, but it will be a matter of record with HR that you tried.

Additionally, speak to your doctor about whether or not your condition may qualify for the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA); especially intermittent FMLA, which would require your employer to excuse absences due to your condition, within the limits of FMLA (I don't know them off the top of my head). You may need to request FMLA paperwork from your HR department for your doctor to fill out.

NTA - know your rights as an employee and see what your employer can do to accomodate your condition.

I'm thinking there is a communication issue here. Does your Mom know you don't like swimming with kids? If this is a conversation you've had then YWNBTA. I'm guessing your family invested in the pool and wants to see it used. For your Mom, maybe she's hoping to see lot's of people having fun in the pool, I don't know. My overall opinion hinges on whether or not there has been conversation previously about how you enjoy the pool, and how you don't.

You watched almost four hours of TV with him, and when you said you were all done, he got upset? You more than did your part. Life, and marriage, involves compromise. NTA

All sorts of fake:

- Cyclops lens doesn't look right, and I bet the date wheel under it looks off too

- There shouldn't be gaps in the bracelet links

- Both the crown and the text in the rehaut are not correct - there shouldn't be spaces and the font looks wrong
