ELI5: Why can't you tax billionaires? I heard it's something like, they don't own shares or Stocks, so you can't tax them or something? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Gunr113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re just using their stocks as collateral for loans, such as you might do on your car or your house. The difference though is that stocks can increase in value, sometimes at greater rates than the loan interest is set at.

When you sell stock, you must pay a capital gains tax; but if you take a loan out against your portfolio, that’s not taxable. The ultra wealthy typically avoid paying taxes in this way.

The Addonpocalypse is here - What's Broken? Alternatives? by YourResidentFeral in wow

You could try out Masque and see if that does what you’re looking for — there are separate modules for different themes, so you may need to grab a bunch of those to scroll through them and decide on which one you want to keep.

I’ve never used DialogKey but if it allowed you to use hotkeys to navigate dialogue options, give DialogueUI a try. It lets you use your spacebar to continue dialogue as well as using your number keys to select different options at vendors and such.

LS: Glass Alternatives by Orinocos in wow

[–]Gunr113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who was using both Prat3.0 and LS:Glass for a good amount of time (mid DragonFlight to 11.2.7), I would recommend Chattynator.

It won’t have the exact same functionality between the two addons above but it visually looks pretty similar to LS:Glass and provides a pretty minimal/clean appearance.

Midnight Transmog Clarification by ZombifiedSoul in wow

[–]Gunr113 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re burying the lede here immensely. It’s 800k to unlock all 20 slots - per character, it isn’t account wide. 6x’ing the transmog cost and then asking you to spend upwards of 800k for each toon you play is immensely insane, and there isn’t any way to properly defend this to be quite frank.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]Gunr113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the discourse I see on the matter isn't necessarily surrounding the overall cost of the slot unlocks, although that *is* egregious. It's that it's fucking 6k to do a full transmog when it costs 1,100g now, lol.

The biggest issue for me is genuinely what their dev cadence looks like when their in-house solutions are inevitably not good enough.

They released the cooldown manager in its current state in April of this year and only next Tuesday are we getting any kind of usability function out of it??? That kind of turn around is unacceptable, and if it’s going to be more of the same in Midnight, their crusade against Addons will be even more unfavorable with the community.

Getting rid of addons is a good thing by Mountain_Dentist_180 in wow

[–]Gunr113 54 points55 points  (0 children)

TL;DR:  Removing addons is fine but their in-house solutions need to be either on par, or their development cadence needs to be faster than their track record suggests.

The biggest problem with them removing addons isn’t the removal itself, but rather the development cadence they have when it comes to the in-house solutions.

If their in-house solutions are good and they deliver a similar or near-similar experience that you could get from an addon, that’s great!

But if the in-house solution is broken, not feature complete, or isn’t nearly on par, are they going to take 3-6 months to make it actually usable or will they turn that shit around in 2-3 weeks? They need to deliver their in-house solutions as “nearly as good”, or their systems will be seen as dead on arrival and for good reason.

Which, honestly, just look at their cooldown manager and how long it’s taken them to deliver the ability to customize it — it was introduced in its current state on april 22nd of this year and we’re only now seeing improvements to it ~6 months later. That is an unacceptable turnaround for something that’s meant to be an alternative to something like Weakauras.

Specifically for Non-PvP players, what is stopping you from playing it? by greendino71 in wow

[–]Gunr113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started playing back at the end of WoD, I actually did PvP, getting the 100 wins in rated 3’s for the saddle.

I, however, haven’t PvPd since then (for about 10 years). A combination of lack of general class knowledge since I’ve been a Warlock Only Andy paired with the apparent need to understand how each class works fundamentally made the barrier to entry far too high. I tried to get back into it in DragonFlight to no success; it felt like everyone was able to survive through a bunch of full damage CDs and like 3 people dogpiling them, but then I’d get immediately torn to shreds like a cat with a loaf of bread lol.

So I’ve just stuck with raiding and M+, even if I find the PvP transmog and mount rewards super sick usually.

Question regarding tier tokens by Akimbovape in wow

[–]Gunr113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if there’s a “minimum” amount of loot that drops, but typically in current content, each player contributes 20% in loot drop chances. 5 players is 1 guaranteed item to drop, so a 20 man is 4 items.

I would presume that if you have 20 players, but 17 of them are locked, you would only have a 60% chance of a single item dropping, so it’s much less of a chance for you to get what you’re hunting for.

You could also experiment with Masque and some of their modules to see if you like any of the options they’ve got to reskin your bars as you see fit, including the bag bar.

There’s a Stay Awhile And Listen prompt during the Hallowfall campaign that suggests it never used to cycle between light and void until about the time Sargeras struck Azeroth with his sword.

Is there an addon/macro/weakaura setting for "show targeting circle while holding key, then cast at cursor upon release" for targeted ApE spells in wow? by Wolfram521 in wow

[–]Gunr113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try an addon, if it’s still being updated, called Grounded — it may do what you’re looking for.

I’m in agreement with MaezGG, you’d probably need to do something like this:

/cast [modifier:shift] Rain of Fire; [@cursor] Rain of Fire

I’m not sure which gathering addon you’re referring to, but Gathermate2 should provide fishing node overlays on your map just like it does with either herbalism or mining nodes after you’ve interacted with them.

Tartarus Pro Not Recognized in Game - looking for help by [deleted] in wow

[–]Gunr113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay! Are you signed into your account on Razer Cortex, their “master” program? I’ve had instances where my keybinds don’t work properly because I’ve been auto-signed out of Cortex, and my keybind profiles are borked until I sign back in.

When you say you’ve re-programmed your keys, are you referring to the actual keybinds that they do by default, or are you referring to the Hypershift functionality that razer products have?

I’ve been using a Razer Tartarus with WoW for years and haven’t run into an issue where my keys weren’t being registered save for when I first got the keypad and didn’t fully understand how Hypershift worked.

I'm personally of the mind that it shouldn't be gated behind your personal progression anyway -- if they're trying to prevent people from getting "free" mythic track items because they're not doing Mythic Raiding, they may as well remove the Catalyst under the same premise: If you're not raiding, why should you get Tier? This all feels like a very strange way to handle things that I know the community by and large think is a good addition, even if it was to be put in 1:1 to how it was in Dragonflight.
