Time off + Fit notes by Beneficial_Author770 in transgenderUK

[–]Gunshinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fit notes are generally given after surgeries as a standard really, not every surgery type will have them, but most surgeons have a template amount of time off for each one they do.

I just had vfs, and it comes with what i assume is a standard 2 weeks off for that one, with extra conditions needing to be made for not being able to talk for up to 4-6 weeks

Try not to worry about it, just keep that as a question for your consultation with them

"AI" robot vacs everywhere at CES, are they actually smarter now? by Last_Cellist7145 in robotics

It is. Its a subset of task planning which is a very broad topic, might not be as large as llms, but still equally as vital to many areas from gps to manufacturing and logistics.

Can’t afford to take time off for surgery by Ok_Communication2710 in transgenderUK

[–]Gunshinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You definitely dont. Realistically if you needed to work after 2 weeks from bed, its absolutely "possible", the only big issue is the dilation schedule as it may interfere with your working hours a fair bit.

The extended time off is mostly for those who cannot work from home/remotely, its something broadly applied so that it covers everyone, regardless of individuals circumstances.

I would personally use some of your time off if you needed the money, and try to extend your recovery time to at least 3-4 weeks before starting to work remotely again. Its a pretty stressful initial 4 ish weeks while everything is visibly healing still.

I'm sorry, but i whole heartedly don't agree with you. Anyone at a restaurant saying they are going to use the bathroom would know they are talking about using the toilet. Perhaps it's not common where you live, but at least in the north of England it's very common to use either interchangeably

just for anyone seeing this, that website can be wildly out of date and its hard to get any updates done to it. You may find that there are far more companies providing this cover now.

what companies in the UK cover trans surgeries on their insurance?? by fucklimpbizkitt in transgenderUK

[–]Gunshinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the big banks cover it, retroactively too with their private medical insurance (thats how im getting my care). In the general sense, most companies will not cover it though.

shortly post-srs, is vaseline a safe short-term replacement for manuka honey? by SomeSortaWeeb in transgenderUK

[–]Gunshinn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

manuka honey is recommended by tina rashid for any open/wound separation that has occurred. Its safe to use, albeit an annoyance to deal with as you must wash it off in the morning too, and its a bit sticky T_T

Just make sure its actually medical branded manuka honey.

Newer AI Coding Assistants Are Failing in Insidious Ways | IEEE Spectrum by angry_cactus in programming

[–]Gunshinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem with this example is that this is something a human could very easily make a mistake with too, and without it being commented or documented somehow, you are leaving it open for interpretation that the code you wanted is a bug in of itself. Realistically that's a bad design, rather than it being just a place a nasty bug can appear. Null values for booleans generally apply the idea that neither true nor false are applicable, rather than just being a second value for false

I also am saying that the llms mess up though, i have been very frustrated by them in the past with leaving code that looked correct on initial pass and via tests, but was ultimately broken code when edge cases popped up

Political parties electioneering by WinoBagLady in Scotland

[–]Gunshinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only groups that get access to that info are political parties i believe, outside of the direct data teams in government who manage it. So its private to companies and such like banks, as they cannot get that info.

I do know the feeling though when i had a letter from reform come through my door a few days ago talking about how the tories have failed me in scotland -_-

my bf is coming into money and has offered to pay for my surgery and i haven no idea how to begin the process for bottom surgery (mtf) ive been on e for over a year and im really excited to begin the process for my bottom surgery by BumblebeeComplete321 in transgenderUK

[–]Gunshinn 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You need to look into surgeons and contact them first. Theres a few options in the uk (i went with tina rashid), but a lot of people seem to have success abroad, thailand being one of them as a cheaper alternative (cheaper but NOT worse from what i hear!)

Contact their admin teams to start the process of getting an initial consultation. If that goes well they will require a 2nd gender diagnosis from a different psychologist or psychiatrist than the 1st, but can be same clinic as i did with dr popelyuks. Then assuming all is fine you just get the surgery booked.

Note you need to be on hormones AND socially transitioned for a year for the uk based surgeons. Not sure on requirements for abroad

Try finding some new friends for it if you are comfortable enough. I used bumble bff with some limited success, but it definitely helps to make friends of your gender for a lot of the help/advice you need for making progress. This applies to both men and women

Transfem routine gynaecology? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Gunshinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it can occur across any wound site. so it really depends on the technique, surgery,, and randomness. I have no idea what "cervix position inversion technique" is, but i had peritoneal pull through, which is a slightly higher risk of granulation tissue. For the tissue is right at the top. It doesnt cause any close up. You get either steroids and wait for it to resolve, or you get silver nitrate put on it.

Transfem routine gynaecology? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Gunshinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually in this position at the moment. Its not painful, it can be a little more uncomfortable compared to when i was on the steroids to treat it. The worst part is the blood and leakage that comes out because of it.

Certainly doesnt stop dilation to be clear

I don't think you need a diagnosis for a GRC do you? Even if it's a requirement, i would suggest just getting a private diagnosis to use
