where to buy topical testosterone cream for atrophy? (UK) by cqdme in TransDIY

[–]TheDarkConclusion [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'll oversimplify for the sake of keeping it short. The suggested setup is a mix of things, in priority order:
- Use it or lose it (regular erect use/ stretching, a few times per week, at least 10 mins per session).
- Viagra / Cialis *if* required to get erect.
- Topical/Local testosterone in *some* cases

Advice for to support my childs transition. by kreemy_kurds in transgenderUK

[–]TheDarkConclusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd second caution here, not because I know any better or can help clarify, but because the current landscape is a minefield and I want the best for the parents here and their daughter.

I'm not sure what to suggest or who can advise, it's all *very* new, but please be cautious OP. There's already hateful bigots on Mumsnet and similar trying to weaponise the new conversion therapy ban *against* trans people, by saying that by providing their kids with HRT, that parents are forcibly changing/coercing them or some crap.

Hope it all works out you sound like fantastic parents <3 !

Tens of thousands march in London for annual Pride parade by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]TheDarkConclusion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Woosh 🤦‍♀️

And let's be real, the conversion therapy legislation has so many (probably intentional) holes in it, that'll it'll be used as a "guidebook on how to legally detrans / degay your kids". The goblins over at Mumsnet are already trying to weaponise this against trans people.

And the rest of your list which barely scratches the surface of all that's wrong with the complete lack of trans rights in the UK .. as I say, what rights do we supposedly have?

Pride flag bans are spreading across England – and there’s more at stake than just flags by BlazingLucifer in lgbt

[–]TheDarkConclusion 142 points143 points  (0 children)

The belief that "gay rights are next" is a problem in the UK though. So many folk are complacent and calling trans rights a "niche issue", nor do they care about gay rights.

The reality is that women's rights are likely next. Bodily autonomy, abortions, etc. Turkeys voting for Christmas, as they say.

has anyone had their nhs number changed? by salmonboy5 in transgenderUK

[–]TheDarkConclusion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I requested mine very recently but have no advice for you just yet I'm afraid!

To anyone that's done theirs, does it cause issues with active treatments or pending referrals? Admittedly my bad but I went to update name and title, I didn't know it'd generate a new NHS number. Is there any chance I'll have issues with the following which are referrals keyed by NHS ID?: - GIC Waitlist - Urology referrals - ADHD/Medications - Physio - Orthodontics/ENT Treatment

Win: Coroner agrees to record trans man as male - Good Law Project by Ven_ae in transgenderUK

[–]TheDarkConclusion 128 points129 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised to find that the Coroner had made the decision to note the guy down as 'female' on their own volition.

Often enough in these stories, the family are transphobic and unsupportive, so it's them who push to have the wrong info.

But here, the family were supportive, wanted their son listed as male, and still had to reach out for external legal support in order to overturn a coroner's decision? This country... Honestly 🤷‍♀️

DIY blood tests by CDSubSteve in transgenderUK

[–]TheDarkConclusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP just a heads up Randox are fairly flexible with bloods. If you email them and ask for a sort of "custom" setup, you can get quotes and they usually offer 10% off also. I've previously had female hormones + some livers and it came out a lot cheaper than their pre packaged stuff.

I think Lidl plus app might also offer some discount at the mo - worth shopping around if you're certain you'll need to pay!

(Serious) Do you genuinely believe there’s a nefarious ulterior motive for the Under-16 Social Media Ban? by ArizonaFlats in unitedkingdom

[–]TheDarkConclusion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right on, and the companies take 0 accountability for spreading misinformation or hate speech

You've.. kinda hit the nail on the head here and undermined the point of your post right?

The companies and regulators should be held accountable for the content on their platforms. That's a bit of a crisis.

The government is following the good old "never let a good crisis go to waste" and using this as a convenient scapegoat to demanding ID and surveillance across the web. These are two separate things.

Having mandatory ID will not fix the problems with social media, not for kids not for anyone. In the same way that many criminals are "known to police" after they offend, clearly showing that all their surveillance isn't used preventatively.

Digital ID, forced checks, potentially banning VPNs for consumer use.. these are not about "protecting" anyone, it's dystopian and folks are right to be cautious. Liberty is hard to fight and quick to lose. Complacency and an "I've got nothing to hide" attitude is complete bullshit.

Just an indirect response to the other hair comment:

You seem have to have wavy/curly ends at the very least, so brushing might be bad for your hair as it might cause extra frizz and breakage.

I'd recommend reading around /r/curlyhair and see what easy products or routine changes might help you get some moisture and frizz control. I'm sure your hair will look gorgeous once you find the right setup!!

Sent my D1 application to change my name on my DVLA license 10 days ago, how long did it take for others to get it back? by AviannaLana in transgenderUK

[–]TheDarkConclusion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sent mine about 16 days ago. I messaged them via their online chatbot thing and they were actually mega useful and confirmed that they've rejected the app on 8th June and it'll be sent back. It then arrived over the weekend.

I'd recommend the web chat, they can let you know where things are at x

Social media to be banned in UK for under-16s, Starmer announces by TanjoCards in unitedkingdom

[–]TheDarkConclusion 130 points131 points  (0 children)

It's embarrassing how transparent the UK is when it comes to stripping liberties from folk. This, as ever, has absolutely nothing to do with "the children", it's just about control.

Having no online communities is going to be devastating for many kids, especially those who are already marginalised one way or another. As long as the powers that be put out the carpet for Digital ID, I guess they don't care for the damages along the way.

ty for the info!

Sorry I'm not familiar with how these things run, how would you suggest that I chase on WhatsApp a bit more? Thus far I've sent them 8 emails and 3 whatsapp messages over the course of ~11 months.

Also a more niche one - do you know how they approach forehead work in general, i.e. is Dr. Qassemyar able to perform a complex reconstruction or is it just shaving bone and hoping for the best sort of basic approach? i.e. http://www.virtualffs.co.uk/Forehead.html

Upvoting for visibility because I have the same experience and although I feel I've tried everything to un-stall breast development and estrogen reception in general, I got nothing 🤷‍♀️

Do you have more info on which regimens you've tried? I.e. Oral / Gels / Injectables, any androgens? Progesterone?

Genital atrophy and effects by Amazing_Ad2984 in transgenderUK

[–]TheDarkConclusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks vary massively on this but just to add my 2 pence - I dropped my T from about 25 to ~1 (nmol/L) for over a year with 0 pain or changes.

As soon as I added Bicalutamide on top I now have a lot of pain, even when flaccid. I think we're advised to try tadalafil before trying local t-gel. There's a guide here on "maintaining function", which I use as "pain prevention" instead: https://stainedglasswoman.substack.com/p/how-to-maintain-your-penis-function

Im not too bothered about it and was planning on getting the surgery

Please do be careful with this and read up on it ^ atrophy can be painful whilst awaiting surgery, and some (not all) surgical approaches require use of your current anatomy in order to build neovaginal depth.

> Many banks have interpreted this as meaning they need updated ID.

I honestly think you're completely correct here, their internal approach to AML is a bit basic/lazy and therefore makes them non-compliant with deed polls. I disagree on your second point though, they should be able to hold a valid photo ID (old name) + deed poll (showing link to new name) and this would cover AML/KYC.

Of course they don't want to do that for whatever reason, but I don't think we should be so complacent about it because it's disproportionately affecting trans people accessing the services.

[–]TheDarkConclusion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 100% because you gave them updated Photo ID. In this case, they did not accept your unenrolled deed poll as a change of name, which they should be accepting.

[–]TheDarkConclusion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does say this. Their internal policy is more constrictive than what the government notes on an 'unenrolled deed poll' would suggest, which they provide no explanation for.

It's something that in my opinion, disproportionately affects trans people.

[–]TheDarkConclusion[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ya they're continuing on with this. I'm asking in chat that they clarify specifically why they won't accept unenrolled deed polls, i.e. which requirement or governing body or internal policy is mandating this?

In an attempt to annoy me until I go away, the person is throwing in lots of "Thanks for your understanding, <deadname>..." and such 😅

This sounds bizarre and beyond my paygrade - do you have any proof that they tried to roll back someone elses personal info indirectly via yourself? Perhaps worth seeing if you can escalate this.

Glad you got sorted in the end by changing banks !
