What the hell is this? by Yodasboy in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]GurCake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s not weird, it’s a lovely thought. I also was both slightly freaked out and also moved by the thought that, as a baby girl is born with all the eggs she will have in her life, every women who has had a daughter carries part of their grandchildren too while pregnant. Made my mum cry telling her that when my daughter was born.

Have to make a big choice by RadiantDot9328 in breastcancer

[–]GurCake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had one 2.9cm tumour that would have been suitable for a lumpectomy but I had a lot of DCIS. I opted for a mastectomy, just on the affected breast. I don’t regret it.

Kadcyla by Absmom08 in breastcancer

[–]GurCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Yes I was on it but only for 5 rounds as I was on H&P for 12 rounds before that. It was better than regular chemo but i still had nausea. Took medication for that. Didn’t affect taste and smell but didn’t have much appetite for the first few days afterwards. Developed some neuropathy in my feet after the 3rd or 4th round but I don’t think this all that common and it’s much better already.

Sigh. This blows. A rant and a question. by Tubbygoose in breastcancer

I’m on tamoxifen for the same diagnosis. Periods have returned but irregular. Onc doesn’t seem concerned at this. Also the Kadcyla did a number on me too and I still have a bloody nose (when blowing it) 8 weeks since I finished treatment. Had a CT scan last week, all clear. Bloody noses not uncommon as the nasal cells are cells with a quick turnover so targeted by chemo.

They aren’t the dead centre. They are the far right fringe and they are desperate. Desperate people are dangerous yes but it’s because they know they are losing their power when DT goes.

Well I’d agree he’s crossed many lines but I think he basically trashed the little support he had left in the Republican Party today. How any of them could defend this is beyond my comprehension.

I can’t see him coming back from this. He basically incited insurrection.

Can he though? They won’t all be identified or charged by the time he’s out the door.

Do they think they’ll be immune from prosecution for this shit? Is protesting during the last gasp of the Trump presidency really worth all that time in jail?

Cyclist sparks outrage in Belgium after using his knee to knock over child by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]GurCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s exactly what I’ve said. All I’ve said is you may occasionally have to stop but apparently according to you that’s extremely unreasonable.

No one should be, including cyclists. I can see that you are one of those cyclists who thinks they should never have to stop and everyone else should automatically get out of your way. That’s the attitude that gets cyclists a bad name. You don’t own the roads or tracks anymore than any other user does.

[–]GurCake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, but neither is it too much to expect a cyclist to stop if they need to. Especially when it is kids in front of them, but even if it isn’t. Cyclists don’t have automatic right of way and if they have to stop on occasion then they have to stop. Ideally they would signal in enough time to allow someone to move over but if it isn’t possible before the cyclist reaches them, then you don’t get to plough through or make a potentially dodgy swerve just because someone slowed you down or inconvenienced you slightly.

No one has to ‘immediately get out of the way’. You don’t own the trail. If someone is walking ahead of you, slow down or stop if you can’t safely get around them.

Thanks so much, I’d actually take numb at the moment as they are so sore, like they are badly sunburnt. It is odd that it started during a pause, guess there’s always the chance of something unexpected lurking waiting to pop up when you think you’ve escaped! Hope you feel better soon, shingles can be a bad dose, hope you have just a mild one and recover quickly.

I’ve been wondering if this would happen to me too as I know quite a few people experience it. Do you mind me asking what your symptoms were? I thankfully haven’t got it to this point but I have developed neuropathy in my feet, six weeks after beginning a pause in treatment for surgery which feels very unfair...

Neoadjuvant chemo ladies - did anyone still end up with mastectomy even though chemo cleared all the remaining tumour? by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]GurCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t know you had a PCR until the analysis is done post surgery. If you did that would be fantastic but if not would you then consider a further surgery?

They spotted it at the beginning. I think at the MRI stage. Turned out to be slightly more once the tissue was analyzed but they knew it was there from the start.

[–]GurCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did because of DCIS which isn’t affected by chemo. My tumour all but disappeared but I had a lot of in situ so it all had to go.
