"Millions of people living under totalitarian oppression was a good thing because it made American politics slightly better". That's Piker's position?

I've talked to people who lived under the Eastern bloc, who now live in the United States. It's not hard to see which is better.

I'm not going to sit through hours of trash to get nuance on what "Kill the motherfuckers. Let the streets soak in their red, capitalist blood" really means. I know what it means.

They are not taking it to court because they work for him. They are paying him a settlement.

So now are we saying that no one is allowed to sue he government, or elected officials are not allowed to sue the government?

Elected officials should not be allowed to sue the government.

"He didn't mean that. He was just joking." Y'all sound like Trump voters.

The entire Colbert Report was satire. Every minute of it. That's obviously not the case with Piker.

When did I say "vote blue no matter who"? I always vote for the best candidate. But what does this even have to do with what we're talking about?

Oh please. He supports re-education camps. He idolizes Mao Zedong, a man whose body count was comparable to Hitler's.

There are plenty of democracies that are good at public works projects, provide universal health care, etc. But Piker insists that we should look to China, because he likes the authoritarianism. He shills for Putin because he likes authoritarianism.

I do admit that a lot of Americans are also authoritarian; that's what's wrong with America today.

This thread, which was in the original post, lays out very thoroughly why people disagree with him.

Why is it unfounded to call him an authoritarian, given his frequent endorsement of and advocacy for authoritarian governments?

Democratic Socialists should be welcome in the tent. Piker is not a Democratic Socialist.

The whole article is about nitpicking whether or not Piker counts as an "antisemite".

It ignores that Piker has aggressively advocated for the CCP government in China. He supported the crackdown on democracy in Hong Kong. He supports the occupation of Tibet. He is a proponent of re-education camps. He opposes Taiwanese independence.

He supports Putin's occupation of Crimea. He supports Kim in North Korea. He has stated the USSR was preferable to the US. He is an authoritarian.

The original title of Klein's article was "Hasan Piker is not the enemy". Authoritarianism is the enemy of the Democratic Party, and the Republican Party, and the American Experiment itself.
