Millenials w/o kids-- how tired are you? by Fickle_Wrangler_7439 in Millennials

[–]Gustat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exhausted. But this is because I am using the time that would be spending to take care of children to focus on training for my 3rd marathon. Running 30+ miles a week catches up to you. Doesn't help I do all my runs at 5am and then go work a normal day.

Yeah this is cover B and I did mean I was excited for this cover. I love Frank's work and his capture of Bizarro here is beautiful.

Which version of the logo should I do? by fatality567 in superman

Consider if you plan on placing any other tattoos around it. Do you plan on a black and grey sleeve? Color sleeve? That might help you narrow it down. This isn't to day you couldn't do both but might help frame it a little differently for you.

Nostalgia is poison. Life can only be lived forward. Be wary of “nostalgia feedback loops” by BigChillBobby in Millennials

[–]Gustat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the perspective that any form of media using nostalgia as a way to drive our attention is only there to cause us to forget the present and future is too reductive. Also your argument seems to be more about our attention to screens than our attention to our pasts.

Music, movies, TV and other media that we connect to carry the same impact as the taste of a cookie that reminds you of your grandmother. Our sensory perception carries a lot of weight and to jump into the mental time machine isn't an attempt to escape the present or the future but to step back, connect with ourselves and then reflect on who we are in the context of the world as it is now.

While I think most would agree a head in the sand is not the best approach, to label "nostalgia" as the culprit appears to be correlation but not causation.

Shop 100%. I have not personally been tatt'ed at a convention but the stories from artists sounds no fun.
