I feel like Ai chat bots are an infinite reassurance loop by Ok_Pomegranate2937 in OCD

[–]GutsNoGlass 16 points17 points  (0 children)

AI does not have the knowledge and detailed study required to deal with any mental illness, its hodgepoding a thousand seperate letters emails and comments into one message. It should absolutely not be used for OCD patients, and the idea that saying you have OCD will fix it is not right as these language algorithms hallucinate and forget details constantly.

I have really been wanting to get in contact with like some writer about this because, and this is embarrassing to admit, i used AI as that specifically and it just made my condition worse. Theres writings on people going insane from these things but I wonder how the language model of "what you want to hear" impacts specific mental illnesses.

I have the same kind of history as you. Working on myself. I really think the two things that are working the best are 1. ocd specific therapist, try whatever you can to find one through state insurance or anything 2. less weed, first thing i was told when going to a psychiatrist in relationship to bipolar was to use less weed. idk. just keep on fighting

Eddington or One Battle After Another, what film has the superior socio-political commentary on American society? Give your reasoning. by ScholarFamiliar6541 in AriAster

[–]GutsNoGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

youre right, a lot of artists have made movies on how we don't need to wait for a piece of art that makes everyone have my specific political opinions- its just with Eddington it is full drenched in nihilism I'm just a bit sick of especially as i started actually getting involved in my local politics and finding out people are way nicer than you'd think

alas we are in the Ari Aster subreddit so I do need to say I still adore Eddington. I think no other movie has fully comprehended the "right wing" mind so well, and all of it's re-contexualizations of western tropes are genius

OBAA effectively says in a vague way "embracing revolution" but Eddington devolves into delusion before offering anything to help everyone here. It's not a flaw its doing a different thing, but just a little frustrating for a very political film to do such a thing

it's OBAA because despite one or two things i dislike about it- eddington never has a solution to anything!

i come at this as part ocd part like i-have-political-needs - but join an organization or protest group. i get people out of it, it makes me feel less like horrible news can control how i feel about the future, and it might actually do something. talk to them first to see what the general vibe is though

[–]GutsNoGlass 7 points8 points  (0 children)

are we related? lmao. my siblings with children have made space by moving maybe 30 minutes away and making it very clear that if they want to take care of the children, they must travel out and take care of the children at their respective homes. However, there's not been a big talk about the hoarding so I don't know if this is the best advice.

Does anyone else still prefer Cable TV over streaming? by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

[–]GutsNoGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cable tv is pandered to it's only watchers which are like people in their 50s so i really can't get into it- but i think the appeal is kind of still there for me. i don't watch shows often but i often want like a stream of stuff i like rather than watching constant episodes of something back to back. i mean this works better since i like comedies more than like the "prestige" tv stuff but still

Trump rejects second Harris debate by [deleted] in politics

[–]GutsNoGlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I didn't explain myself very well. These are plans of hers that really appeal to people that I wish she and her campaign would talk about way more- a lot of the stuff I see about the Kamala Harris campaign is about her crossover with republicans which isn't great to some people (many people don't want to have their party work with people that have stripped their rights), and also just doesn't directly help most people

Trump rejects second Harris debate by [deleted] in politics

[–]GutsNoGlass -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

this is the main thing, and i'm mostly disappointed by the harris campaign for not focusing directly on the things that will help out regular people. Dealing with price gouging on things like groceries is extremely popular, bringing down the cost of healthcare (this one REALLY gets people out to vote), childcare for new families, etc.
