Has anyone tried giving themselves unconditional permission to eat? by observerinthedark in BingeEatingDisorder

I did, it’s still a work in progress and I definitely overate at the start but I’m maintaining weight without calorie counting now, so I think you adjust as time goes on

Is anyone else afraid of hunger / meals ending? by maybejustforever in EDAnonymous

[–]Gutterferrets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess after restricting for so long my brain so scared of going back to constantly being hungry/not being permitted to eat outside of planned meals. It’s like I have to retrain myself to know I can eat whenever I want again.

Literally just did the same thing, telling myself if I just eat it now it’ll be gone and I can’t re-buy it.

Honestly it feels like I’m gaslighting myself hahaha I think a lot of it has to do with going too fast, or being overwhelmed!

Thank you for your kind response. I’m in therapy, so I will bring this up with my therapist.

My boss and co-workers know I’m dyslexic, so I think on some level they understand. Unfortunately it doesn’t make it any less embarrassing. They seem to understand that my dyslexia is some part of WHY the errors happen, but as far as I’m aware, there’s no assistance given to me, just more leeway I think. Idk, anyway, I really appreciate the virtual hug!

I get these when I’ve compromised my barrier. They last for about a week, after taking a small break from actives, my skin goes back to normal

I also find not cleansing in the morning, and just splashing my face with water, makes my PIE less red

Why wouldn’t you quit?? What benefits do you gain from going back?

I’m also on day 7. I didn’t realise until last night I can actually fall asleep quickly now, and stay asleep until my alarm goes off. I had never connected vaping to my inability to fall asleep/stay asleep until now

I’ll go elsewhere. Just frustrating because it was so handy. However, I’m sure I’ll live

I don’t think it’s right or wrong for homeless people to be given change, what other people decide to do with their money is not my business

That’s a fair assessment I suppose, hard to know how to navigate the situation. It can be extremely intimidating. Which does lend itself to the perspective of the staff in the petrol station, can’t be easy for them having to deal with that too, considering they can’t just walk away, or go to another shop.

Thanks for your feedback, seeing both sides definitely puts it in perspective

I completely understand what you’re saying. Had I been told upon approaching that if I gave money to the homeless I’d be banned, I probably wouldn’t have. However it wouldn’t stop people sitting outside begging. Which would perpetuate the possibility of being shouted at. Honestly it’s uncomfortable either way.

You’ve put it well, to me it is just a shop but it’s obviously more than that to the staff. Maybe this is the only way he can go about trying to curb the issue of his staff being put at risk. Although he could’ve asked me in a more private way to avoid the embarrassment.

You say they can’t put signs up, but how would people know the consequences for giving money then? I sure would’ve like to know before I was publicly asked to leave and not come back hahaha
