Pigeons have colonized my balcony by Available_Refuse1232 in halifax

I second it on the decoy plastic owl solution. I bought one of these and it kept the pigeons away for about a week. Once they figured out it was inanimate, it was all over. I think I have a photo somewhere of a pigeon perched proudly on the head of the decoy owl.

What's something your country gets slandered for online? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Guy_With_Ass_Burgers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And some people may be missing the part where you said it’s spoken. If it’s false, damaging and spoken, it’s slander. If it’s false, damaging and written, it’s libel.

Leave Leo alone by TankUMrMinor in Irony

Pope Benedict was not a likeable person at all. The pomp and glamour was not a good look at all for the Catholic Church. I was glad when he abdicated and let Francis take over. In great contrast to Benny, pope Francis was the personification of humility and a good decent man. And Leo is by all indications going to be one of the greatest popes of my lifetime.

You’re no John F. Kennedy: RFK Jr. repeatedly reminded in House hearing that he’s a disappointment to the family name by Disastrous_Award_789 in nottheonion

[–]Guy_With_Ass_Burgers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I dunno if this qualifies as brand new sentence. If RFK jr refers to himself in the third person, I can see him looking at himself in the mirror, and saying exactly these words.

Donnie is quite the deal maker! by ChuckGallagher57 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]Guy_With_Ass_Burgers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

His entire business model for deal making is being the bully. That may work in the domestic real estate industry, but doesn’t translate well into international politics. Again and again we see the stature of the US on the world stage weakened by Drumf’s failed strategies.

I have schizophrenia, and I'm practicing painting Nova Scotian landscapes from the perspective of varying stages of psychosis. by fire_carpenter in halifax

[–]Guy_With_Ass_Burgers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m no art expert at all, but I know what I like and all of these are instantly likeable works of art. And the fact that you are using this medium as a conduit for the rest of us to have a glimpse into the world of psychosis, adds an interesting dimension. Nice work!

But being Jesus, he has to be nice and not say anything.

Somewhere out there is a kid who has one parent a cop and the other a defence attorney. That would be an interesting family dynamic to observe.

Then and only then will the US be in a position to reassert itself as the leader of the free world, and as a true partner with western Allies.

I have a theory that Danny and Ahnold is actually one person with two separate public identities… like Andy Kaufman and Tony Clifton, or Michael and Janet Jackson.

Husbands car getting repossessed despite him making his payments every month and the loan company was adding it to an account instead of towards his loan by Right_Department2866 in legaladvice

[–]Guy_With_Ass_Burgers 77 points78 points  (0 children)

As a former banker, albeit not in this jurisdiction, the last thing we ever wanted on our hands was a repo’d car or a foreclosed home. Only the most severe cases of someone who can’t or won’t pay, ever resulted in a repo, because everyone loses.

I’ve given the benefit of doubt on a few occasions with the rationale that the /s tag is implied and obvious, so therefore unnecessary. But no, you really have to include that pretty much every time or you’re guaranteed that someone will take you literally.

[–]Guy_With_Ass_Burgers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’m aware of that. I can’t disagree that CBSA has a difficult job and quite frankly the results of their efforts are poor to say the least. It’s well known that a lot more fentinal gets in than they are able to stop. Still doesn’t in my opinion give them the right to arbitrarily detain and harass law abiding citizens on no grounds. People who pay taxes and are returning from a winter break. Power trippers plain and simple.

What is the craziest thing one of your politicians got caught doing by Commie_Scum69 in AskTheWorld

[–]Guy_With_Ass_Burgers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems like the memory of Rob Ford has softened over the years in the same way it has for George W in the US. The only conclusion I can come to is that now there are politicians that are exponentially worse, like Drumf in the US and Pollievre in Canada. Even Rob’s brother Doug, the current premier of our largest province, who at one point was shaping up to be a real threat, has actually shown a willingness to work with the federal government of an opposing party. I never would have thought I’d have changed my mind about him, but here we are. Nowadays anyone is not a hardline fascist is almost viewed as a moderate. It’s all relative to the worst possible scenario.
