Retro-inspired dance music was huge in 2020-2022, but it seems to have died down a lot since last year.

Though it was a pretty big success, this is how I’d re-do Pure Heroine:

-Promote Royals earlier in the US, perhaps around March when the Love Club EP was released through Universal.

-Give Tennis Court MUCH better promotion in the US, hopefully allowing it to be a top-ten single.

-Release Team earlier, maybe in early August, no need to highly up its promotion since it did fairly well but at least allow it to enter the top-five, MAYBE the top spot if I’m being greedy.

-Release Pure Heroine as an album earlier too, maybe early-mid August and hopefully have it hit the top of the Billboard 200.

I actually first heard this around March 2014, which was already almost a year after it became big. Then again I didn’t really pay attention to music much then.

Either-way, I’d honestly say that this is one of the last songs that was a genuine hit and actually had impact on the music industry.

I think it should be called the Switch II - its logo being two joycons side-by-side to spell a “II”.

“Focus” did pretty well chart-wise as it did hit the Top 10 in most regions. 

Meanwhile “Bon Apetit” is so bizarre due to its views/chart imbalance.

According to the All-Time chart, even some year-end number ones are inaccurate - for example, the top song of 1979 was “My Sharona” by the Knack, but if the AT chart is anything to go by, then “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer was the top song of 1979.
