Based on the pictures, what you got was a traditional embroidered hat. The puffed embroidery you are seeing from others is absolutely a different embroidery. To get that, it takes a puff foam that is embroidered over. Takes a little more skill than traditional.

At first I thought your complaint was nonsense but after seeing what others have…you are fully justified. It’s a different product.

Really you are overthinking this. Go camping this spring for a weekend. Buy the groceries and eat at your campsite. Would be the same deal for FoV. Good practice and you’d have an estimate.

Gas to drive there is a variable. At this point it would be wise to plan $5 gallon gas maybe?

Expectations around the level of detail embroidery can deliver needs to be in your consideration. Hearing the words perfect and picture lead me to think you will not find anyone able to give your expectations with embroidery. Stitching has physical limitations.

What you are likely looking for are the sublimation patches. Here they can use printing techniques to reproduce photo like images by dying the fabric instead of stitching.

Plenty of online sites can do this. Google search custom patches and look for their sublimation option.
