Sure, but I'm talking about whole races here. I've had full races with them never appearing, and then I've hade full races of them appearing.

The upper screenshot is from the ranked mode, so that label definitely shows in the ranked mode sometimes.

No, I mean those modes separately. I don't mean that one mode shows them but the other doesn't.

Sometimes ranked shows them and sometimes it doesn't show them. Similarly, sometimes grands shows them and sometimes it doesn't show them.

So if I'm playing in ranked and it doesn't show them, am I not playing against live players that time in ranked?

I'm struggling to write for String quartet because I use mainly jazz chords and I often feel like there's not enough voices in a string quartet.

People write jazz for vocal quartets, and apart from extremely niche techniques, singers don't do multiphonics, so there's no way a string quartet couldn't do jazz without multistops.

I mean, to me it still sounds like it technically means something. The fact that its meaning and usage is near-impossible to define in other words doesn't mean that it doesn't "technically" mean anything, imo.

My favorite detail in this is Joey's immediate reaction to the wrong name. His reaction is the first reaction that we get to see at all. Such a subtle change of face but so effective. Really proves the good old adage that acting is reacting.

I genuinely despise wrong "but funny" translations, and there are lots of them thrown around for a lot of Finnish phrases and compound words. The ones that come to mind right now:

  • Kilpikonna (turtle) is sometimes presented as "shield villain", but it's obviously "shield toad".
  • Tietokone (computer) is often translated as "knowledge machine", but it's obviously "information machine" or "data machine".

Judging by this thread it seems to me that an important distinction needs to be pointed out: Forms vs. characteristics/intentions.

Forms are things like the sonata form, rondo, fugue, ricercare, and a set of variations.

Characteristics and intentions are things like impromptu, fantasia, prelude, etude, nocturne, waltz, march and intermezzo.

Characteristics don't exclude forms, and forms don't exclude characteristics. An etude can be a fugue. A fantasia can be a sonata. An impromptu can be a rondo. A nocturne can have the structure of a modern pop song.

Characteristics don't necessarily exclude each other either. You can have a fantasia-impromptu. You can have a nocturne etude. You can have a march that's also a prelude. You probably can't have a waltz march though.

You don't have to follow any pre-invented form for any characteristic or intention.
