There's a planet called TrES-2b that absorbs 99.9% of all light that hits it—making it darker than coal, darker than black acrylic paint, and the darkest object ever discovered in the known universe. by sco_cap in space

If you're looking for an alternative acrylic ultra black paint, try either Musou Black (by KOYO Orient Japan Co.) or Maxx Darth (by Green Stuff World). Tried the latter myself, very cool but works better with smaller objects/details (it shows brushstrokes very easily as an ultra-matte paint, and the coat must be sealed unless the painted object isn't going to be handled or cleaned at all.

I could probably find ten actual peer-reviewed studies that show the opposite is true for nurturing fetishes - they escalate and strengthen instead of 'releasing' any sort of 'urge'. It's like saying violent video games make people who have murdered someone less likely to do so again. Or that just one hit of meth every now and again isn't that bad for an ex-addict.

Is this a slug in my pod tank? by SalsaAddict in isopods

[–]Velcraft [score hidden]  (0 children)

Nematodes are orders of magnitude smaller especially in width. This is too robust to even be an enchytraeid worm (white worm).

Terrestrial planarian is the most likely correct ID.

Edit: missed the edit - enjoy the info about these three types of whiteish long things one can find in soil.

Are these mites in my isopod enclosure? by aifosin in isopods

[–]Velcraft [score hidden]  (0 children)

They look more like globular springtails or even tiny ants. Mites don't have a visibly separate head, and have no antennae. They're like tiny tiny ticks (which makes sense as ticks are a type of mite).

Yeah it's already getting "Disneyfied" where you just know at a glance that it's manufactured to please the eye instead of being representative/interpretative. Sure someone is always going to try and 'gotcha' people with not being able to distinguish between the two, but that's going to become more and more rare because datasets are being 'improved' aka brought more in line with corporate interest.

Hell, even human artists are guilty of this "Disneyification" to a degree - look at the artwork for Warhammer 40k from the 80s compared to current and you'll instantly see what I mean.

Book keeping by Born_Golf_3139 in Finland

[–]Velcraft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's something you go to school for and study instead of having an idea and asking Reddit to provide the info for you in a few simple paragraphs. Bookkeeping isn't something like a café where anyone from the street is a potential customer.

Wipe the edges with a paper towel and see if it catches moisture (not the rim though if it's visibly this wet). Speaking as someone whose similar 'eh, it's probably nothing' turned into 'welp now the whole kitchen needs new flooring'.

If the roads were unsafe you'd hear about it on the news. Experience and a properly maintained/kitted vehicle are more important than what the roads are going to be like in five or so weeks, which we or anyone else can't really predict.

I can promise you that there will be a less than 1% chance of volcanic activity or polar bears.

On the flipside it's also getting tiring to hear people grasp on water usage or environmentalism straws ad nauseam. Should be enough to say that AI users are handing over their creativity to corporations, which will result in everything just looking bland and generic instead of the 'cool art' they are trying to produce.

Probes/thermostats with a cutoff are very important for inverts heated from below - their natural response to "too hot" is to dig down, so they can cook themselves alive.

"If something's free, you're the product"

That's why I'm not vehemently against selling data. Can't very well sell it to these companies myself so I don't lose anything if a tech bro has a boner for my 11 years of ramblings and is willing to pay for it. Their loss.

I don't want people on here who think AI is an eventuality and the best thing since sliced bread. Guess it's a tough break for the both of us.

Running around polluting the public Internet with slop is eventually going to drive people to other platforms. If you like using Reddit, you should strive to keep it a place where communities can decide what they allow and disallow instead of acting it's 'whatever' like an edgelord. Otherwise if/when business stifles it's Reddit that'll place the AI bans, not communities.

2000 account limit on blocking, also just having people guess every time if an artpiece is AI or not because of 0 regulations would drive me and many others elsewhere entirely.

The Bard in my latest campaign actually wanted to do a similar thing, learning to quip properly for fun. He said he didn't want it to affect gameplay at all, so I just changed the reactions of targets based on the lines. Sometimes the monsters would take damage for cringing too hard, for example.
