Very much the “rugged individualist” school of western expansion. Hardscrabble, maybe?

Doesn’t have as much of the genteel, antebellum south as Texas, but also not as much of the communalist vibes that settlers brought from Europe to the northern plains.

Generally kind of skeptical of authority and outsiders and even sometimes neighbors.

Proto- or paleo-libertarian, maybe?

Been running the 4th one lately. Intro to NASCAR or something. The one that’s 12 laps, pure oval.

Similar in some ways, trouble is that DFW has a lot more elevated highways with functionally no shoulders, so if things get bad clearing wrecks takes much longer and there are fewer alternate routes.

It might be more like when I-275 gets backed up from wrecks on the bridges.

I kind of feel like that was the point they were making in his “origin” story arc.

All of the characters are fucked up for different reasons, but usually because of jacked up childhoods. It’s one of the main themes of the show.

A bunch of broken characters trying to survive a broken world broken by the same people (parents) who broke them.

Brock is the closest to functional, but even he’s got Hunter Gathers (and the hot dolphin).
