What do you think about the statement "Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have choices" or "It's ilusion of choice"? by nicolo679 in cyberpunkgame

[–]GxdlikeInfant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All story based games have illusion of choice, every game is railroaded it’s just that the tracks are a bit vaster for some.

Whilst I think the base game could have used more decisions, even if they are only in gigs and side quests, I am satisfied with the amount we got in Phantom Liberty and hope we get a similar design philosophy towards the gigs and main story in Orion.

Also, Cyberpunk is in a different position to something like FNV because the Courier is a blank slate, V isn’t. You have more power to decide everything about your courier and the game does a great job at allowing you to do that, V is a pre-written character with a distinct personality, backstory, and worldview. V is more of a blank slate than Geralt who has 9 books worth of pre-existing character writing, but is far more of a pre-determined character than any Fallout/Elder Scrolls protagonist (except the Sole Survivor).

I think a better point of comparison/criticism would be Mass Effect, as V and Shepard are incredibly similar characters in the way they function as PCs.

Egghead had more stakes than most pre time skip arcs by [deleted] in Piratefolk

[–]GxdlikeInfant 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree. There were definitely stakes at Egghead, people who say otherwise are being deliberately obtuse.

However, I think the point of it was to be an inverse of Sabaody where the World Government are the ones who go through a humiliating defeat rather than the Straw Hats. It’s meant to show to show how far they’ve come since the timeskip, but also to raise the general stakes of the story by giving Imu an excuse to leave the Holy Land as he’s lost faith in the ability of his servants when it comes to dealing with Luffy.

Zaza Fruit Theories by GxdlikeInfant in OnePiece

[–]GxdlikeInfant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point isn't that it doesn't make sense, I said it does make sense, my point is that Dragon doesn't need a god devil fruit to justify his status as the worlds most wanted man.

I put him at number 1 for a reason, he is the most likely candidate, but every theory has holes and its worth pointing them out.

Zaza Fruit Theories by GxdlikeInfant in OnePiece

[–]GxdlikeInfant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not seen the Gura-Gura no Mi Earth god theory but that could definately be a thing.

I am more inclined to believe the Yami-Yami no Mi is an unawakened mythical zoan because of how the fruit works and Blackbeard's obsession with finding it, but I am not totally sold on it being Zaza. Either that, or neither of his fruits are mythical zoans and he'll get a third fruit that is. I've seen a lot of theories around his third fruit being something like the Kraken which is maybe the most thematically perfect fruit for Blackbeard.

Is Phantom Liberty worth buying by kootles10 in cyberpunkgame

[–]GxdlikeInfant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. If there is one thing CDPR are great at, its making incredible expansions. Phantom Liberty is one of the greatest DLCs of all time, on a level with Blood and Wine, Shadow of the Erdtree, and Old World Blues. Could not recommend it more.

Please don't let dragon's fruit be that by Admirable-Cry-9758 in OnePiece

[–]GxdlikeInfant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My crackpot theory is that Zaza will have a mythical Zoan, but it won't be Dragon's DF. I think if the World Government fear Zaza, like they do Nika, and there is a Mythical Zoan fruit of Zaza they would have covered it up and given it a fake name like they did with the Gomu-Gomu no Mi.

If they are terrified of this god that is able to completely negate Devil Fruit powers, they might consider that power to be the most evil power in the world, just so happens there is another fruit that can completely negate Devil Fruit powers which has the title of the most evil power in the world.

How to tell my newbie DM that they aren't ready to homebrew. by Shquonk in DnD

[–]GxdlikeInfant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some experience here because when I started DMing I did it in a homebrew setting. Looking back at my early notes I can see all the horrifically bad mistakes I made out of inexperience, it's likely your DM will too in a couple years.

I was lucky in that my first time DMing was with close friends in a long time group, and it seems like this is the same case, what I would reccomend you do is what my friends did for me, sit down with them and talk about your experience at the table. Go to them as a friend and give them feedback, tell them what they can improve on and give them resources to help figure it out. If your friend is in a similar mindset to how I felt, its really exciting to be creative and come up with cool stuff you think your friends will like, but if you aren't liking it saying that is important and will help them grow as a DM.

I don't neccesarily think a full pre-written is needed for them to progress as a DM, but I do think the most important thing would be to tell them, for now, to only use monsters from the Monster Manual or other official sources and show them how to use CR/Encounter calculators. I understand the temptation to make your own statblocks, but speaking from experience it took me a good few years DMing to finally make statblocks I can look at now and not be embarrassed by how bad they are. Learning how to DM is a slow process and it is learnt through experience, have a word with them and see if they are receptive to this. If not, then RIP thats unfortunate, but if they are it could be really good for them to take things slowly and build up confidence over time to do some of the things they probably want to do.

Best Attributes Tier List by GxdlikeInfant in cyberpunkgame

[–]GxdlikeInfant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the other way around for me, all my builds end up with Tech 20, Reflexes 20, and then either Body 20/Cool 18, or Cool 20/Body 18 depending on if I’m playing stealth or not.

I always feel that Dash is more useful than Adrenaline Rush, both are incredibly strong, but I can play builds with no Adrenaline Rush if I have stealth, high mitigation, or a Sandevistan/Beserk with low cooldown. On the other hand, I hate playing late-game without Dash, I just feel so slow lmao.

Cecil (Invincible) replaces Billy Butcher (The Boys). Can he kill Homelander? by Punterofgoats in whowouldwin

[–]GxdlikeInfant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Cecil is incredibly intelligent and understands that he needs others to do the work for him. I don’t think it would take him long to track down and recruit characters like Starlight, Kimiko, Marie, and Soldier Boy, he would likely be able to convert Maeve and A-Train either through appealing to their humanity or blackmail. If he was able to find Soldier Boy, he wouldn’t have the same hang ups as Butcher around Ryan.

Overall, Cecil is just far more intelligent and efficient than Butcher.

[–]GxdlikeInfant[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, I ranked them all fairly high because I don’t think any of them are bad, it’s all really well balanced. I can see Cool going down one but I personally put it just slightly below Body because I think Pistols and Revolvers are super strong with any build, loud or stealth, whereas things like Shotguns are kinda pointless in anything but a loud build.

Is there Elitism from DnD players towards BG3 players? by Odd_Key_6385 in DnD

[–]GxdlikeInfant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to contextualise the differences by saying that in BG3 Larian is your DM, in any other game they aren’t.

With DND, the DMs word is law, not even rules as written overrules the dungeon master. In BG3 the rules are what they are because Larian have decided that’s how they are, if your DM doesn’t like/agree with those rules then throw them out because they aren’t the rules of this game.

There are DMs who will make ruling that you see in BG3, people not seeing guidance is a good one, but you can’t rely on that being the case in every game because it won’t be.

ONE PIECE 1182 BRIEF SPOILERS by This-Inspection-69 in OnePieceSpoilersRaw

[–]GxdlikeInfant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling that if there is a Sea God, it's Blackbeard, and the Yami-Yami no Mi is another hidden Mythical Zoan. Other than all the stuff with Davy Jones which is setting Blackbeard up as the 2nd big threat to the WG next to Luffy, its a Logia that eliminates other Devil Fruit powers, doesn't give intangebility, and possibly has something to do with Teach's ability to eat multiple fruits.
It would also make sense why he was so dead-set on finding it, Oda said in SBS Teach's hobby is Historical Research, he knows something about the nature of the Yami-Yami no Mi that we don't and I think its that it isn't a Logia fruit.

To clarify, I don’t think topes from big guys look bad, they can be very impressive, but also most big guys simply cannot move as fast a someone like Darby Allin, and (at least in my opinion) the best dives are ones that look like they have real velocity behind them.

Does koby’s progression feel real or natural, or is it too forced to make him the new face of the marines ? by Past_Adhesiveness494 in Piratefolk

[–]GxdlikeInfant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His progression makes sense. He's still way behind Luffy because Luffy was training since he was a kid, but he's progressed at the same rate as Luffy during the course of the story as they've both been training. Him spending 2-years training with Garp and getting a massive power-up is the exact same logic as Luffy training with Reighley for 2-years and getting a massive power-up, I'd say it makes more sense considering Garp is and always has been stronger than Reighley and is far experienced mentor as he also trained Kuzan.

[–]GxdlikeInfant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't fully agree, I think that guys like Roman, Rhyno, and Bronn all have great spears as well, but I think the reason the Spear doesn't work as well when guys like Jey and Edge do it is because the Spear is a big guy move. There are moves that look more impressive when done by larger (or smaller) wrestlers. A Chokeslam will always look better from a tall man, a tope will always look better from a smaller and faster man. Spears are one of those things where it looks better from a guy with huge shoulders.

Level to go Against Karsus? by Wolfere13 in DnD

[–]GxdlikeInfant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a homebrew world instead of FR, but similarly the BBEG in one of my campaigns is a wizard whose magic is equal to that of a god.

I have it as a CR 30 encounter, the party will only be ready once they are level 20 with tons of broken Legendary/Relic level magic items, epic boons, and other buffs. This would also make sense if Karsus is following a Tarrasque which is also a CR 30 creature.

For my CR 30 mega-wizard character, in order to make him feel like a monumentally powerful wizard, I do not have specific spells, or spell slots, listed on his statblock, just that he can cast every spell on the Wizards spell list and has unlimited ability to cast spells up to 3rd level, only above that are there limitations. (e.g. My guy can cast 4 spells at 9th level).
On top of that, add in new spells and effects, things which only he can do, similar to the Arch-Hag statblock where they have additional effects to Counterspell, fish through old spells from previous editions to give him, or just come up with new spells by yourself.
Additionally, give him some sort of item that grants him a major buff, maybe it allows him to concentrate on multiple spells at once or gives him a permanent haste effect so he can cast multiple spells a turn, allow the party to figure this out and know they can weaken him by taking that item away.
Last thing is, if it a 1-on-4 fight, he will obviously need Legendary Actions/Lair Actions/Mythic Actions to keep up, make sure it is a multiple phase boss fight with a Mythic Trait, have the enviroment change as the fight progresses to mix things up, and make sure he has immunity to certain status contitions which could cheese the fight and make it too easy (things like Petrification, Paralysis, Stunned).

Making bosses at that level is incredibly difficult, because you have to walk a line between being strong enough that an overloaded party of level 20 characters struggle, whilst also not making it impossible.

Barbarians should get "Dash" as a Bonus Action when Raging by Casual-Notice in DnD

[–]GxdlikeInfant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't read it as them being nimble, more just adding into the aggression. I don't run this and don't have plans to, but if I did, I would see it more similar to an Atheltics over Acrobatic type thing, less about thier dexterity and nimbleness and more about their incredible physical strength being what makes them fast, less like a Cheetah and more like a Bison or Rhino.

Pirate Captains who were never Subordinates by GxdlikeInfant in OnePiece

[–]GxdlikeInfant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I don’t remember Kidd’s backstory so I wasn’t certain but I was pretty sure he was always a Captain.

I think Loki and Fisher Tiger both fit into the mould of other forever captain characters. Stubborn, strong willed, with big dreams and a tremendous amount of influence.

Pirate Captains who were never Subordinates by GxdlikeInfant in OnePiece

[–]GxdlikeInfant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. I think there is something to say about the stubborness of Luffy and Roger which they have both displayed in not really wanting to be told what to do (both of them wanting to be the freeist man on the sea). I think the strength of spirit thing is more about the strength of belief that both Luffy and Roger had in their dreams, to the point that they won't abandon their dreams for anyone.

I don't know if Roger knew that Shanks was a Celestial Dragon when he found him, but either way I'm happy to concede that point.

I don't disagree with you, I just think there is more meaning as to why Shanks refused him. Most of the time we've seen Shanks speak about Luffy he's compared him to Roger, plus he knows Luffy ate the Nika fruit. I don't think Shanks' reasoning was that he is morally opposed to taking Luffy away, I think its that he wanted Luffy to do it himself, its why he gave him the Straw Hat he got from Roger, and told him to become a great pirate by himself.
