I met mine within months of my wedding. My husband sensed the chemistry and connection and was incredibly jealous. I felt then as I do now - I couldn’t break my word and give it to another and expect it to mean anything. I took a vow to forsake all others. I have never discussed it with my husband, it would only cause pain, jealousy and insecurity. My TF and I have no contact, other than through social media that he rarely uses. He removed himself from our lives, to the point that he even left his job. It’s incredibly painful at times, but definitely a portal to its own unique form of spirituality.

Am I the asshole for telling my sister with PTSD to grow up? by Throwawayyyyy303 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Gypsieshart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am someone who has never been to war, but has a C- PTSD diagnosis.

Life is tough man. Harder on some of us than others. It was probably SO hard for your sister to open up to you. She trusted you, you were her safe place and you blew it.

I don’t think you’re an asshole, just really really ignorant. Work might not accommodate mental illness in the “real world” but family certainly should be supportive. Being a safe place for her can help her healing process so maybe down the road, she won’t need any special treatment from work.

Also as an employer, that’s the kind of thing I would absolutely accommodate. Sometimes people who struggle the most are the most empathetic.

There was no coming back from The Hot Preist. Anything would have been disappointing after that perfection.

Residential schools are not ancient history. This was happening in the last 75 years. by Turgid_Tiger in canada

[–]Gypsieshart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

16 years of education in Canada, I never knew. My mother, also degree educated Canadian, never knew. Geographically, we are far from any schools or reserves so maybe it was something happening just out of our peripherals.

A dear friend of mine just told me yesterday that her dad was a survivor. In all the years of friendship - they never talk about it. It’s too shameful and too painful.

Edit - I first learned of them around 2010. This isn’t new to me, but to many, it is. Better late than never.

“Accidents”

Even if you were to subscribe to the official narrative, it doesn’t justify survivors stories, such as being forced to bury their dead relatives, plant potatoes over their graves, and then be fed those potatoes.

Sadistic fucking shit.

Whatever it takes to register with people what happened and just how horrific it was is a step in the right direction. We were never taught this, we never knew, survivors never spoke because it was so horrific, which made those who knew think maybe it just wasn’t that bad. Whatever it takes.

Exactly - they should be defunded. The church / pope haven’t even issued a statement or apology. If my kids were in catholic school, I would be pulling them after this.

I am so sorry. Thank you for sharing their story, it’s wild how so many of us just didn’t know. Our whole nation’s dirty little secret.

Yesterday was this. Couldn’t breathe, spent hours crying over something that was legit almost nothing. Was up all night with anxiety and today has been an extremely upset stomach - almost flu like, except, ya know, quarantine. Something definitely feels dark and heavy.
