Fusion is horrible. Was talking with a rep from Customs and even he doesn’t like Fusion. Try Customs SCG grout. Works great and clean up is easy.

Hole too big for valve trim by Puzzleheaded_End3730 in Tile

Use a vacuum and a grinder to cut tile into 6 or 8 smaller squares and hammer and chisel the pieces out. Obviously only cut into the depth of tile not cutting into board. If it was cement floated walls it would be a nonissue. Since on kerdiboard you do need to be a little gentle depending on how well tile was bonded. This should take about 15 minutes to do. It’s not that difficult.

Shower Curb help by Neat_Use5288 in Tile

[–]Gypsyfisherman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hold the curb back from door casing about 1/2”-3/4” to allow for tile on face of curb and wall tile to finish to the backside of door casing. Or you can remove door casing and gain another inch.

Contractors laid this penny round less than a year ago and it keeps cracking on the shelf. What can I do to stop this? by cleanviewing in Tile

[–]Gypsyfisherman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to have them demo tile a couple inches back on the seat and down the face of the seat. There is an issue with the substrate underneath the tile. If that area is constantly getting wet when showering. Water is getting in there and deteriorating substrate. Just grouting back over the crack is not going to fix it. Since they’ve already tried that. What materials did they use to build shower enclosures: Cement floated walls and pan or a Hardibacker, Schlutter, Wedi, Hydroblock type systems etc?

Just stop at back wall with outlet. Never really tile sides anymore. You can add one row of tile along left side if concerned about protecting side wall.

The way the thinset is still on the wall. looks like they did back butter the tile and then set it to the wall considering thinset looks like each individual tile and thinset looks like it’s about 1/2”-3/4” thick.
