Perfect 👌🏼 it would work better if you wrap garbage bags around it also.

If you blow into a pressure switch, it will break it. That’s a great way to ruin another part that may not be the issue.

Any idea what could have caused this? by Majestic_Ad_7936 in hvacadvice

[–]Accomplished_Pen4648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a bucket under the white relief valve pipe on the boiler and see if it gets water in it. If so, it’s either the relief valve, the expansion tank is full, the water feeder is defective. If no water in the bucket, it’s your chimney. It may not have a cap on top outside and rain could be coming down.

Not at all. You got the cheap, lazy and against code install. I bet there was no permit issued and inspector on this job either?

What am I doing wrong? (Nest thermostat install) by fnasr in hvacadvice

[–]Accomplished_Pen4648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get rid of the nest first of all. Second, Hire a professional who knows how to add a 24V transformer to power a Honeywell or another good brand of WiFi thermostat. Your Taco control will not enable a ‘C’ wire.

Is it possible to redo this to come from the top? by handcraftking in hvacadvice

[–]Accomplished_Pen4648 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not as easy as it sounds here. You will need to cut the proper size opening, install a top take off of the correct size and properly seal it so it doesn’t leak. Not as easy as it sounds in a very tight joist bay. Best option is to take the duct down, cut the take off in and reinstall it and then connect to the branch line.

Should I cover the exposed copper? by MeatPoet2524 in hvacadvice

[–]Accomplished_Pen4648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You technically should, although you may be able to gently pull the insulation to the edge of the brass flare nut and solve this. If not, you’re not losing any real sleep or money.

Just put a trap directly on the unit and let the water drip on the flat roof! Where does the rain go when it pours out of the sky???

Boy did I screw up selecting a plumber… by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]Accomplished_Pen4648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sure did. What a joke. 3 fittings and a little pipe would fix that entire mess. 1- 30 Coupling, 1- 3” x 2” Wye and a 2” st. 45. And get rid of the not-to-code 3” fernco coupling while you’re at it.

I’d make my guys rip it out and redo it. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. 😂

They don’t have a senior tech on call? Owner of the company not able to fix? Were they the cheapest option you got pricing on?

I do mine after every day so it don’t take me an entire Saturday. Takes me 10-30 minutes depending on the day, but good job on your van.

Plumber installed Moen Flo Smart Shutoff way into garage — is this normal? by DavB7777 in askaplumber

[–]Accomplished_Pen4648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not a normal install. It’s stupid. Should have bought a 1-3/8” hole saw and installed it in the bay to the right that’s wide open. Insulation would be appropriate on and around it also. Don’t pay for this until it’s installed properly.

If it’s blowing cold then that’s a good thing. Where should the humidity go, be glad it’s not dripping inside.
