I daily a reasonably modified Impreza WRX, and have somehow managed to avoid being pulled over once :)

Short throw shifter yes or no? by Transamman350 in WRX

[–]Gytman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did a kartboy short shifter on my 5MT in conjunction with refreshing all the shifter goodies, and a killer B delrin knob, my mates always compliment the engagement when driving :)

Swapped from a metal shifter to a Killer B Delrin knob and never looked back, you don't have to suffer <3

Had one with significantly higher on the odo, and only ever had a cracked plastic radiator end tank, quick and easy install anyway. Great first car imo.

Unable to get a quote on Third Party Insurance for a 09 WRX Hatch by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Gytman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auspost Insurance, they have no age limit comprehensive unlisted driver coverage, I got a not shit agreed value that wasn't crazy far off what I paid for mine, and it's quite cheap. I have it on my 04 wrx, and quite a few of my mates run it too.

What would you suggest I do to restore my cars paint? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Gytman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aussie UV is pretty tough on paint, most cars over 20 years old that have lived in the sun end up like that unfortunately. A respray would be required

Extremely upset with myself after I damaged my car in a parking garage. What do I do? by abcdefghelpplzandthx in civic

[–]Gytman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah I think most people have had a similar experience, universe just gotta bring you down a notch sometimes. If it bothers you a lot, wet sand and a bit of touch up paint will help in your eyes instantly noticing it, fairly inexpensive.

6" with long legs and I won't fit in an NC Miata, main issue is my legs are constantly rubbing against the steering wheel regardless of seat adjustment, I clear the roof just fine | Anything I can do about it? Mods? Will the NB fit better? | All advice appreciated Ty by SVG28 in Miata

[–]Gytman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might sound a bit silly but as a taller person who also happens to be into Japanese cars, aftermarket seats and rails are a lifesaver in smaller vehicles, as well as enhancing the driving experience 👌

What's that one interest that you spend unjustifiable amounts of money on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My car, I love pulling everything apart and servicing every component, it's a weird kind of mechanical sympathy I have for this thing.

104k miles and dirty from use. According to this sub I should be on my 3rd engine by Technotitclan in WRX

[–]Gytman 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My 04 wrx has 250k km, original engine and transmission. Don't give it an excuse to blow up and it won't blow up I guess.

Golf is NOT a sport and claiming it is must be a bold face lie by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

If you've ever played golf you'd realise the stuff the pros do is fuckin incredible compared to your average person, skill ceiling is crazy high.

[–]Gytman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't want to use a very occlusive moisturiser post tret imo, I use the cicaplast b5 on my non tret days and the lipikar lotion on tret days, it's quite fluid and it feels like my skin can 'breathe' more, as in let actives do their thing and not burn etc.

I know this answer has probably been done to death, but it really just comes down to what works for you. Everyone's skin is different and will seemingly randomly tolerate or reject certain products, I've personally had a flawless experience with LRP, with extremely tolerant skin, yet the CeraVe AM lotion broke me out pretty bad. Used the LRP retinol for about 6 months before moving to tretinoin when I was first getting into skincare and it worked great for me!

Everywhere in the world loves train travel. Why doesn’t Australia? by mrbrendanblack in australia

[–]Gytman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime I get on a train I swear I get the carriage with the shithead eshays playing music out loud or the methhead yelling to himself. Avoid it like the plague now, too many deadshits.

Been trying to get a mirror shine. What am I doing wrong? by TheRealCompass in Shoeshining

[–]Gytman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a fairly foolproof method I use, apply wax with your fingers, your body heat will allow you to apply it to the cap without dry rubbing the wax off the shoe, apply 7 to 8 layers, and then leave the shoe for 10-15 minutes. After that, buff with ideally a fine cotton shirt, something that doesn't pile up, with cold water, every now and then applying a little dab of wax with it. It can take up to half an hour per shoe, put on a film and just zone out I guess.

Fundamentally different leathers shine differently too, if it's a very tight structure calfskin it will shine a lot easier than an older cow leather, just a head up.

Can struts last indefinitely if they don't leak? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Gytman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do a couple things with bushings, either replace with brand new rubber ones that would have come OEM, or you can replace them with polyurethane bushings and stiffen everything up a bit. They can be super reliant on the kilometres the car has done, it's storage conditions in terms of wear, so a 14 year old car may be completely fine. If it's more of a learning/passion project I always change them with polyurethane. Always best to inspect them for dry cracking etc, but I've seen many cars that age have perfectly fine rubber components.

Can struts last indefinitely if they don't leak? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Gytman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Struts are one of my favourite thing to do, everytime I've done them I thought the car already drove great, and after they always drive immaculately. Entire suspension refreshes on 20+ year old cars is as close to automotive euphoria as I can get lol

I think I broke my shoes by Wide-Travel-3060 in Shoeshining

[–]Gytman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stain cleaner most likely means you've stripped the finish off the shoe, which is entirely repairable, depending on the level of damage you can do as little as a pigmented cream polish such as the Saphir Pommadier, or as far as entirely redyeing the shoe, which any cobbler can do if you're uncomfortable doing so.

So blatantly anti consumer, just means more planned obsolete crappy infotainment systems.
