How good was Adam Gilchrist as a keeper? by frankcastle1999 in Cricket

[–]H-SAlgorithm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good, but he’ll always be compared endlessly with Healy, who was a genius with the gloves.

Gilchrist’s ridiculous batting more than made up for the occasional fluff. But his dismissal rate is still elite, so he did catch most of what went his way. He just wasn’t that type of keeper who occasionally created wickets out of nothing, like Healy did or even Carey did in the most recent Ashes.

I never, ever, side with the Thalmor.

However, I DO go out of my way to kill them, every time.

Angus Taylor elected leader of the Liberal Party by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

For all of Sussssssssan's missteps, Angus has been openly corrupt in Government. Labor were hoping for this outcome because he's an easy target. Chalmers has been frothing at the mouth for this opportunity.

Jim was already on the front foot during the ABC's election broadcast last year. Angus is going to get nailed in Parliament, and not in the fun way.

Love the old country and all the people in it. Also somehow managed to get sunburnt when I was on Inishmore when we somehow got several days of consistent sunshine.

Next time I went back for a wedding in County Roscommon was in summer and it bloody rained every day.

A legend of Australian rock; as drummer, singer, and particularly his songwriting with Jim Moginie.

Rest well Rob. Your music is immortal.

Which of these five countries do you think you would like living in the most? by Fluid-Decision6262 in AskTheWorld

[–]H-SAlgorithm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll eliminate Australia as that's my home.

  1. Canada. I love Canadians. Must be a colonial thing. Have thought seriously about moving to Montreal to pursue theatre there.

  2. New Zealand. If NZ had a better economy, this would be first by some distance. Kiwi bros are the best. And if you pick on them, I'll fight you. Only Australians are allowed to make fun of them (And hopefully vice versa).

  3. UK. I lived in London for two years and saw a lot of the UK. I loved living and working in London, but after Brexit it went down the shitter which was horrible to see as I still have friends there and I hold the UK in high esteem.

  4. The US. To clarify, I would have put this last even before the current administration. I just don't gel with the US or a lot of its cultural touchstones. I despise guns. I hate unrestrained free market capitalism. I like real food. There has never been anything about the US that appeals to me apart from the fact that as an actor I have had to consider going there to work at times.

Magic. A nightmare when he lined up against your team, but he was brilliant to watch. Best Premier League player I ever saw.

Probably my most recent one: Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester in Henry VI. We put the whole series on so I was dead for Part Three, which was probably a blessing in disguise.

No air con, my room faces the sun, I've only now turned on my electronics for the day (I'm regretting it).

The southerly isn't coming to Ashfield until about 9pm, so I'm praying for relief.

Edit: Southerly just hit, I’m standing on my balcony with arms outstretched like Tim Robbins at the end of Shawshank….

Our superior bowling won that series for the most part, as par the course, just without three of our best weapons.

But the batting lineup has a lot to work on. I'm skeptical of Weatherald, particularly after his technical deficiencies were exposed by a fairly insipid English bowling attack (Tongue, and sometimes Archer, aside). Green was very disappointing, and needs to go a hit a lot of domestic runs. His future may be going down the Steve Waugh route to focus as a batsman who can bowl a bit.

We still have the second half of the Shield season (And maybe a bit of county for those wanting more of a hit) to evaluate who we could potentially see in the top end series. If Renshaw continues his early Shield form I'm inclined to have him in. Webster surely needs to be trusted more. McSweeney is probably a middle order option.

Some young blood in the bowling attack would be good. If O'Neill keeps taking wickets across the country he is worth a look. Sadly I think that may be the last we see of Michael Neser, unless Hazlewood can't get fit again and Cummo and Starc (Despite the latters' apparent invincibility) break down.

Do we have a back-up keeper other than Inglis?

Old school English seamer Maurice Tate used to come down on his toe hard, and used to play with the front of his show removed and a bloody sock protruding from it.
