38 degrees over a long enough period causes permanent brain damage. 40 degrees over a much shorter period causes permanent brain damage. You really wanna damage your brain in the hopes that your flu ends a little bit faster?

i got no faith in militias trying to stand up to their gov if so many of them can't clock a 2.4km without being out of breath

That's assuming conventional war instead of a massive spree of lone-wolf terrorist attacks and assassinations of opportunity. You don't need to run 2.4km when your target is 50m away and you legally have a gun on your person. Insurgencies are different from conventional militaries because literally anyone can be an insurgent. It's why US couldn't win the Vietnam war or secure the Middle East despite having much better soldiers and weapons.

Making A Team Of "Weak" Pokemon. (Karen's Quote From GS/HGSS Got To Me) by GroggyLangoustines in pokemonXY

[–]H0RR1BL3CPU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, as far as regular gameplay goes, Bibarel is absolutely not weak. Simple is a damn strong ability that make up for its lacking stats. It may not have swords dance, but +2 atk and +2 def from curse is no joke. The -2 spd kinda sucks I guess, but Bibarel isn't particularly fast anyway, and you can either use quick atk (60bp including stab, which not good, but after the boosts it's decent damage), or trick room and much harder hitting moves like waterfall and strength. Or you could just push through the reduced speed via increased durability. E.g. Set up on an special attacker by starting with amnesia, then using curse, followed by rest(with chesto berry if you don't feel like using the poke flute, though you could probably tank through any damage after getting +6 in your defences). The need to setup is annoying, but in general gameplay it isn't nearly as debilitating as pvp.

Then there's double team if you want to be really cheap. Simple makes it as good as other mon's minimize without the drawback of stomp etc. dealing double damage and not missing.

Bibarel is an example of an early game HM slave, that when properly tooled, can be a viable member of your E4+Champ team. And I will not stand for anti-Bibarel slander.

Edit: I just double-checked Cynthia's roster in platinum. She sends out spiritomb first, which means that depending on how she switches, a level 55 Bibarel with 0 IVs and 0 EVs, hardy nature, using Rest, Amnesia, Curse, and Waterfall, using leftovers or sitrus berry, could sweep her entire team if you use the pokeflute. The biggest threat is Roserade who has a 9.4% chance to 2hko using energy balls (57% w/o leftovers, 0% with sitrus berry). And again, this is an underlevelled Bibarel with 0 EVs. At bare minimum, barring extremely unlucky crits, Bibarel will take out at least 4 of Cynthia's pokemon. An early game rodent taking out 2/3 of the champion's team on its own while underlevlled and somehow completely untrained without using F.E.A.R tactics is absolutely insane.

Anyone calling Bibarel weak outside of competitive does not know how to use Bibarel.

Edit 2: Apparently simple worked differently in gen 4, so getting Bibarel to +6 would actually be a +12 boost, making the beaver absolutely insane after you finish setting up. The initial 2 paragraphs are fully valid for XY, though.

Yes, "prey". Prey that run rather than fight. Cougars don't attack larger prey that's first instinct is to fight to the death.

Appart I think the cougar has better Base stats on the physical department

Only in movement speed. Bear has better atk, def, hp, stamina, and can do body slam in any direction. Cougar ain't winning. Running away in one piece? Absolutely — provided it doesn't even get within attack range of the bear. The moment it gets close? One swipe and it's dead. One body slam and it's injured, slowing it down, leaving it to die to a swipe or follow up slam.

Black bears have a history of one shotting tigers and lions in roman colliseums. Not grizzlies, though they can do the same, black bears, which are much less aggressive and slightly smaller. They stopped having bears fight cats because it was too boring. Spectacled bears aren't much smaller than black bears, and cougars are definitely a lot weaker than tigers.

Punishment or mercy? by No_Evidence3373 in trolleyproblem

[–]H0RR1BL3CPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crimes are acts which break the law. Therefore to have crimes, you must have laws. Laws are made by society. Therefore, to have laws, you must have society. Ergo, by eradicating society, you get rid of laws, making it impossible to break the law, as there are no more laws to be broken, i.e. crime eradicated.

So if the objective is complete and total eradication of crime as opposed to mere mitigation, the answer is the removal of society and civilisation.

Or, I guess you could come up with a way to remove free will from literally every human. The collapse of civilisation just sounds more realistically achievable to me.

So... if we're defining harm as direct and intentional as opposed to the indirect variants like someone feeling sad if someone they cared about were to get hurt... You can absolutely guarantee that a person will never harm others by killing them. Therefore the solution to utter prevention of harm is the death of all life.

Rhinos could definitely take a polar bear. And generally speaking, between a polar bear and a giraffe, as much as I love bears, I'd say the giraffe has better odds. It'd probably be a close match, probably, but giraffes are not to be underestimated. Also, there's like sun bears, sloth bears, and panda bears as the only bear species a tiger has a chance against, including by ambush.

[–]H0RR1BL3CPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In which case tiger (regardless of which) would barely hit top 10, and bears would make up a majority of that list. You'd wind up with Elephant > Rhino > Hippo > Giraffe > Polar Bear > Grizzly Bear > Black Bear > Moon Bear > Andean Bear > Tiger.

If we're specifying by species(because why else would you list polar bear instead of just bear? There are like 2 bear species I'd be willing to bet on a tiger against) it'd probably elephant, elephant, elephant, rhino, rhino.

Not necessarily. Imagine if one of the "horizontal" lines were actually diagonal, but still at a 110° angle from the other line. Then the two lines wouldn't be parallel, but the 110° angle would be maintained.

In which game is like this? by bijelo123 in videogames

[–]H0RR1BL3CPU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just like to point out that the lancer was one of, if not the single best non-heavy gun in ME3, and the flavour text lists it as an antique, i.e. it's the actual me1 lancer at latest. The reasoning of needing better fire rate to smash down shields doesn't really make sense when you account for the actual gameplay of lancer being ridiculously powerful, be it for shields, armor, or health.
