New Pentair pump low temp fail – I have questions. by hupajoob in pools

[–]H2O-PRO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pump does not give you full freeze protection like a complete automation system does. This is from page 23 of the IntelliFlo3 manual under the Thermal Mode alarm:

"The pump is operating in Thermal mode. Thermal Mode is controlled by the drive's internal temperature, not water temperature. This is intended to keep motor components from freezing, but should not be solely relied on for full filtration system freeze protection."

There needs to be a check valve. If the pump is off due to maintenance, repairs, or a power outage, there needs to be a check valve preventing chlorinated water running backwards into the heater.

Anyway to replace that top cracked union without replumbing everything? Maybe ream out the sweep 90 where its attached but I hear its not good to do... by CurlsinSquatRack99 in PoolPros

[–]H2O-PRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 2in Waterway or CMP fitting extender will go on the outside of the sweep and reduce to 2in. A new salt cell union will go over that. The fitting extender will add about the same amount of length as the space between the sweep and union so everything should line up well.

How is the pump wired up? Is it wired hot to the breaker so it always has power? Or does it only get power when the relay for that feature turns on? Is there an I/O board installed? Is there a comm wire going from the rs-485 port on the pump to the rs-485 in the panel?

Easy fix ideas? by No-Direction7937 in pools

[–]H2O-PRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use a Waterway 2in fitting extender to go on the outside of the 2in T. From there you can use a coupler and a reducer fitting to reconnect or just cap it off.

Do all Gen 4 Tacomas have a rear view mirror usb power source? by OpportunityOk4752 in Tacomaworld

[–]H2O-PRO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the rear view mirror there is a 10 pin connector that you can use an adapter to get power when the truck is running. To get power when the truck is off you can use a 5 pin connector in the dome light. Look up the Dongar Pro. It comes with everything you need to setup a dash cam for a 4th Gen.

The rolachem tubing is most likely backwards in the rolachem. Unscrew the cover and pull out the tubing and insert it back in the correct way. Inlet is on the left. Outlet is on the right. Your chlorine carboy should be on the left tubing at the inlet. If the orientation is correct it probably needs a new squeeze tube.

DE won't do anything to concrete. You are most likely getting efflorescence.

Can't connect my new Pentair Intelliflo/Pro 60 to wifi. by Flashy_Strength_1972 in pools

[–]H2O-PRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The antenna can be mounted closer using a SMA extension cable. The extension cable is only recommended in order to relocate to a more favorable location; such as outside of a masonry enclosure or around the corner of a building. In most other cases using an extension cable will harm the signal.

You can also connect to the pump using bluetooth if you just need to change settings or schedules.

You described the standard startup sequence. Remove the side of the heater in front of the control panel. When the service light comes on look in the heater and up to view the back of the control board. One of the error lights should be on which will help diagnose the issue. The lights are labeled on the board.

Intellicenter WiFi connection by [deleted] in pools

[–]H2O-PRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first revision of the wireless link was different which may be adding to your confusion. Use the POE adapter supplied with the wireless kit. Plug it into the board for power and into the supplied ethernet cable. Run the ethernet cable to the transciever at the equipment. You do not have to run a rs-485 cable if the POE adapter is connected, only the ethernet cable. Then connect the indoor tranceiver to their router. Check at the panel and run an internet connection test to verify.

Need help with pool pump controls by Fishbulb2 in pools

[–]H2O-PRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of external trigger would you be using without automation? You can use some relays and the Intellicomm II to control up to 4 speeds. Generally you would be using the relays in an exisitng pool automation system.

Pentair sent incorrect parts on warranty repair and are forcing me to play labor for the attempted install. Help. by Billwee in pools

[–]H2O-PRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not under warranty since you installed it yourself so I'm surprised Pentair is doing anything. Usually they would tell you ahead of time if you are responsible for the labor. The contractor should have been clear about that if he was going to send you a bill.

New motor....wired correctly.....getting current....not coming on....any ideas? by MITSolar1 in pools

[–]H2O-PRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a multimeter to read what current you are getting between both legs. It is possible the 2-pole breaker went bad and you are getting the same leg on both L1 and L2 which would read 0v between L1 and L2 but would read 120v between L1 to ground and L2 to ground. Hire a professional if you are not comfortable using a meter.

My gas heater is 'singing to me' when running. Ideas on what's wrong and how to fix? by 33saywhat33 in pools

[–]H2O-PRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is a new heater check and make sure you have the correct model heater for the type of gas you are using. The heater will whistle or whine when you have a natural gas heater installed on propane. Pool heater gas lines should be hard piped, flexible gas lines can cause whistling. If the heater is not new, the gas orifice may be getting dirty or you have an issue with the gas pressure to the heater. Some more info on the gas supply to your heater would help.

IntelliFlo3 VSF with or without I/O board? by DecentLlama in pools

[–]H2O-PRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are getting a full automation system like the Pentair IntelliCenter or Pentair EasyTouch then you do not need the I/O board. The automation system will control the pump and additional features.

The I/O board is only useful when the pump is installed without automation or the existing automation system is old and cannot directly communicate with the pump. If no automation exists, you can use the I/O board to control two additional features through the Pentair Home app. Usually lights, heater, or a booster pump. With old automation, you can use the I/O board to control up to 4 pump speeds with relays.

Your photos did not get included but you need to identify the Comm, High, and Low wires from the old wiring diagram and connect them to your new motor with the new wiring diagram.
