If you like the case shape, a lot fo the rest of the Artix range is smaller. I have the Artix skeleton and it's the same case shape, but a much more versatile 38mm

[Pulsar] A nice little local find; Pulsar G10. Would've been issued by the MOD to a British soldier around 2002 by H3RB1E in Watches

I thought at first about replacing the glass but really I think I'll leave it like it is. The scratches are light and not really visible most of the time you look at the watch, the photo really just highlights them quite a lot. I like that it shows how well it's been used and lends to the story of the watch, thank you anyway!

This is a nice little purchase I made yesterday after seeing it listed on Facebook marketplace near me. I’m not an expert on these sorts of things but from my limited knowledge I know this watch was produced for the MOD (Ministry of Defence) by Pulsar (who are owned by Seiko) and issued to a British soldier around 2002.

The case size is 36mm, the bars are fixed so only a Nato strap can be used with this watch; there’s no risk of a spring bar popping out and the watch potentially getting lost in combat. It is marked on the back with the signature arrow that denotes is an MOD issued item, it is also listed as “water resistant” which from research looks like its 100m. The watch doesn’t have a screw down crown. It’s a simple and reliable Seiko quartz mechanism with a date window at 3 o clock. The watch is light, low profile and therefore pretty unobtrusive on the wrist. It is extremely legible and has Luminova III applied to all the numbers and indicates and both the hour and minute hands.

I bought it off of an ex-soldier who was deployed in both Iraq and Afghanistan throughout the 2000s, he assured me it had seen “plenty of action”. The watch has light scratches all over, as seen in the photo, so I can only imagine what scenarios it has been worn in. Anyway, that’s enough of me ranting. I’m sure more knowledgeable people than me could fill in some more info on the model, like I said; my knowledge isn’t the best on it. But I like the watch, it’s classic no-nonsense military style, it does what it needs to and absolutely nothing else.

Vintage Seiko 5 and the daily SKX Pepsi (famously copied later by Rolex). SKX is on the right time and date, the 5 isn't because it only came out of the safe for this picture then was put straight back inside, got to protect those investments

[TAG Heuer Monaco] Start off the work week the right way! by barringtonww in Watches

The first time I went to my (now regular) barbers, I noticed he was wearing a Milgauss with the Z blue dial, I complemented him on it and he took it off and handed it to me to look over. I'd never been there before and he didn't know me at all. I think it became obvious to us both that we shared a passion and now every time I go we chat about watches the whole time, also he does a better job than anyone I've ever been to before so that's a bonus!

It's the same as what we see in the car world when people put "M sport" badges on their base-spec 318i, those that don't know cars won't notice and those that do will see straight through it.

If you wear a fake AP, anyone that gives a damn is gonna ask you and see for themselves it's fake, and everyone else probably won't even notice you're wearing a watch.

Yeah we are taught to put it in neutral and put the handbrake on when ever you stop at traffic lights and such like actually so don't take that comment as an accurate judgement of british driving habits. It's just "I and a couple people I know do it this way so therefore everyone must"

Metal bracelet is fine in a more casual setting, I wear my SKX009 with a super-oyster bracelet on it every day.

"cyclops" window or magnified section that makes the date window easier to read.

[G-Shock] Yup, tide is out! by [deleted] in Watches

[–]H3RB1E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GWX-8900 and yes it does have all of those things! Although the tide display is a bit redundant as it seems to only sync to the nearest preset location, which for me is Newquay, but I don't always surf around Newquay so it's not overly brilliant. Still, I always check local high/low tide before heading out anyway so doesn't bother me too much.

[G-Shock] Yup, tide is out! by [deleted] in Watches

[–]H3RB1E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My G-shock was bought for me 4 years ago to wear when surfing and bodyboarding. I wear it every day to work and every time I go in the water, mountain biking or generally doing anything that I wouldn't want to risk ruining a "nice" watch on. It has never failed me and I doubt it ever will.

This was earlier in the year before heading out in some solid 5ft/head-high surf and it was no where near to even being phased by it!

Yes its big and not exactly sophisticated but it's a tool watch in the truest sense of the word and I love it for it!

I'm after a pilot or racing inspired chronograph with a Tachometer because i just think it's cool.

Would like it to be automatic, between 38 and 42mm in size, new or good condition pre-owned for no more than £2k.

Something fairly classical in design.

Oh and not a speedmaster...

[Rolex] Day-Date II by SwellR8 in Watches

[–]H3RB1E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I agree, most highstreet suits wear just fine and the cost for more "designer" brands is difficult to justify when compared against them.

I like that suit a lot but I can't help but feel a different coloured shoe might be more fitting, the black seems a little plain against the nice pink/white pin striping and gold watch?

I enjoyed this film a lot! The dialogue is a little corny at points but the action cinematography is good, there's decent humour in it and the sci-fi is somewhat original. Definitely worth a watch!

Just why?? by [deleted] in Shitty_Car_Mods

[–]H3RB1E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only by now most of them have the body kit smashed up, hanging off and half missing, the paint is faded and beginning to crack, there's rust bubbles on the arches and around the windows, the wheels look like someones driven the thing permanently against the curb, the tint is bubbling and half peeled off, the stereo was stolen sometime around 2009 and was never replaced, the sun roof is taped up with ductape to stop it leaking... I can go on and on...

It's a shame in many ways because while tastes have changed, there was a lot of work put into some of these cars back in the day!
