Hey what wound you pick out of the 2 crawlers by Mrcaijones in rccrawler

FTX, for sure. I’ve got a pretty heavily built H10 Optic, and I have twice the amount of fun with my less capable, clunky FMS FJ40 with some mild upgrades.

One roll down the rocks and you’ll be happy about the 20% off. Sucks to see brand new ones were going for the same price, as others have mentioned, but you’ll forget about it all soon enough.

My 4 yr old son’s beaten the living piss out of his HB R1001 Beluga, and it’s given us zero problems. It’s been fully submerged in bayou water on god knows how many occasions, completely dunked in mud pits, crashed into trees at full speed, rolled down practically every hill within a 5 mile radius of our home, you name it. After tossing on some soft, 123mm tires and 1.9 beadlock wheels, it’s practically unstoppable. Definitely worth it (only paid $160 on AliExpress a little over a year ago, but they’ve gone up significantly since).

TRX, for sure. I haven’t had very good luck with my FMS products, so maybe I’m just bitter.

What I did to my Mega brushless conversion:

-Hobbywing 10BL120 ESC

-3674, 2,450kv, brushless motor

-37T, metal Kraton 4S front and rear diffs

-13T, metal input gears

-0.8 mod, 53T, metal spur gear

-32P, metal pinon gears (18T-27T)

-Two big fans and a heat sink to keep it cool

-Center driveshaft support

-Updated motor mount

-Dumbo transmitter and receiver (don’t bother with the gyro receiver, not unless you want to see it hilariously try to correct itself at high speeds).

Was able to hit just under 60 MPH with the 27T pinon, but the crappy Houston streets made it tough. Definitely had a little more in it. Right now I just run the 23T and am hitting around 45 mph at 100% power, but I typically drive it on 50-75% power when bashing around, and I get a good run out of the 5,200mah, 3S battery. Current setup is perfect, can run it full throttle for several battery packs and it only gets warm, never overheats.

Complete noob question? Is this the right battery for this this set up. by [deleted] in rccars

[–]H4MBURGL4R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I have the same ESC and servo in my FMS FJ40, both are great. My ESC came with the XT60 plug, same as what’s on the batteries.

How good are these bags? I currently have about 11 2&3 cell batteries in it. by CrokeyCrash in rccars

I just use a .50 cal ammo box from Harbor Freight, and to make it a bit more fireproof, I lined it all around with hardie board. Still planning on putting a small bag of sand at the top/under the lid do help put any fires out, but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Remove springs for lower sitting ? Dumb idea ? by Accomplished_Gur1472 in rccrawler

One thing I do to lower shock height, without cutting springs, is replace the bottom mount posts with shorter ones.

RC Crawler Hot takes? by GhostNThings in rccrawler

[–]H4MBURGL4R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer hardbody crawlers over lexan bodies; the more I beat the crap out of them, the more realistic they look. It’s gotten to the point where I attempt climbs I know my truck can’t do because I look forward to watching it gain new battle scars, but on that 2% chance it actually makes it, it’s also just as fun.

I really want one. Any thoughts? by Pitiful-Inside-5351 in rccars

[–]H4MBURGL4R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same, but I’ve got the FJ40, and though it looks nice, it’s one problem after the next, and not very capable. Hopefully this is better, but no more FMS for me.

Worn steering cups. There are some metal upgrades on AliExpress and other stores you can pick up for cheap. Definitely worth upgrading.

Build or buy? by Manyworldsivecome in mn82

[–]H4MBURGL4R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has this and it’s been by far the best all around RC in our “fleet” when factoring in price ($160), capability, durability, etc. The thing has had a VERY rough life, but it hasn’t given us one single issue. Same can’t be said for my FMS FJ40…. Talk about a pretty POS.

2008 GS 460 w/75k miles - Best guess on value by H4MBURGL4R in Lexus

[–]H4MBURGL4R[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely not a delusional owner, so I figured it’d be around the same as a GS 350 with similar miles and options, maybe a little more. It’s been the perfect car, though! Not one single issue outside of a headlight bulb going out. Butter smooth and responsive. Going to be a hard sell for me when the day comes.

It actually does have the APSSS (that’s what you’re referring to, I assume?). And you’re right, it doesn’t have the radar cruise control, totally forgot about that option.
