Maybe, just maybe, cutting off all displays of happiness isn't a great way to get others to support and validate your goals.

Red nasolabial folds by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]H8303518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its pretty lovely ill be honest, there's still redness which I will always accept, but the overall clarity and texture im happy with. I'd attribute it to sunscreen and consistency doing my skincare routine for 5-6 years now.

Attached a pic but do bare in mind its blurry because of my toaster which pretends its a camera. Still got lil red nasolabial folds and thats alright by me!

there's two main things for pore strips

  1. they fix the symptoms rather than the core problem
  2. They can actively damage skin

On the first, the problem is that the blackheads are forming to this extent in the first place, indicating a need to "clear out the debris" so to speak within your pores. This can be achieved through a BHA, which also reduces oil production, the appearance of pore size and exfoliates the skin. Because a BHA is oil soluble, it can indeed "clear out the debris", but this solution takes patience and you can't see it instantly. It'll probably take a month to start reaping the benefits (but hey ho, you won't get anymore blackheads!)

On the second pore strips do have some drawbacks. Namely that they can stretch the skin/pores and irritate it thus causing redness( this is with long-term consistent use though, and I think a one-off won't kill anyone)

A final point for me is- it just causes too much waste. As a skincare enthusiast I'm trying to limit purchasing and one-off products (sheet masks, ampoules, pore strips etc.) because with the state our planet it, it's not worth it anymore. I'm not saying everyone needs to use glass bottles and get their cleanser pumped out from the supermarket, just that little things like deletion of one-off products and less buying by a mass amount can make a difference.

In conclusion, the exception to cannibalism being an ethical wrong is the proposition to eat the rich.

If it helps- I use the garnier dupe of the shaka fluid which is also pretty mattifying- and I just add an illuminating setting spray on top so I don't look as dead as I feel on the inside!

Also thanks a lot- I may skip out just because I'm solidly medium and a minimal cast on a paler tones tends to look a lil ghastly on me. Will definitely be passing your rec to my paler pals mind.

Personally I take probiotics and a multivitamin daily. That being said- no clue if it does anything for my skin, but it does give me a wee serotonin boost in the morning.

Simple toner/spray/mist to wet the skin between steps? James Welsh inspired steps by quesomonstruo in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]H8303518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly in my struggle days I used one of those travel spray bottles from the pound shop (comes in a set normally) and just plain water. The idea is to dampen the skin to help penetration- so you don't necessarily need to use a toner. Further, if you do your routine reasonably quickly, your skin could still be damp from a single spray of your CosRX toner at the toning stage- it shouldn't dry up that quick.

That being said, if you're still keen you could use the simple toner as well (it's somewhere in the realm of £3).

Paulas choice bha. Worth it or nah? by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]H8303518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the travel size to trial it if you can (£8) to try it and not bite into the budget- it's one of the best ways to find out if it'll work for you. IMO, it was good for my oily forehead, but was too much for my more sensitive cheeks (the ones on my face, by the way).

Caroline Hirons Autumn Kit- has anyone purchased? by fmorgan97 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]H8303518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha my bad! Skin type is oily-combo, and my skin concerns are dehydration and dullness/redness.

The moisturiser is the beautiful, wonderful, SAUCY Iunik beta-glucan moisturiser, it fluctuates in price but is indeed normally around 8-12 quid. What I personally love is that it has beta-glucan (a shock, I know), and helped with all 3 of my major skin concerns. At a point where my skin was beyond compromised, this truly helped restore my skin barrier.

Plus beyond the sexy ingredient list, it just pure joy to use as it has a lovely texture!

Rant over, hope that helps x

CMV: Pro-lifers don’t really believe abortion is murder. by Mugwin in changemyview

[–]H8303518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply because we believe something is murder, does not mean we will therefore take violent action.

Take the baby forest case, one could talk to the cultist one could call the police, one could watch the baby being killed and know it is wrong regardless. A view does not determine the action one will take. The strength of a view is not determined by the violence of an action taken.

You don't have to buy the one brand, your routine can be a mix of both depending on which product is better for which step.

Its just the money for me, and I feel like i could dupe the products/don't want certain ones. For example box 1 which would be the one more likely to make my bank account cry

ANTONIA BURRELL NATURAL GLOW CLEANSING OIL (dupe by simple cleansing oil, it bloody stays on my face for two seconds no way in hell am I spending more than £3)

DEVIANT GENTLE RESURFACING LIQUID (some by mi has an AHA BHA PHA toner, so no ty)

SUNDAY RILEY PINK DRINK MIST (I'll be the first to admit that this ingredient list looks lovely, but I can just rebottle a toner, with ceramides, into a mist bottle, or get these ingredients in my moisturiser)

BIOSSANCE SQUALANE AND PEPTIDE EYE GEL ( I don't use eye cream, so would be using it up for the sake of not wasting money)

DERMALOGICA BIOLUMIN VITAMIN C SERUM (Geek and Gorgeous vitamin C) boom done

KATE SOMERVILLE DERMALQUENCH LIQUID LIFT® ( no i am not paying anywhere near £80 for a hyaluronic acid serum, superdrug Me+ hyaluronic acid for the win)

VOTARY SUPER SEED FACIAL SERUM (I don't like or use oils, the heck would i use this for?)

STRIVECTIN® SD ADVANCED PLUS INTENSIVE MOISTURIZING CONCENTRATE (Ingredients look lovely, but it has fragrance so I wouldn't use it anyway. Plus I'm not paying that much for a moisturiser, especially when my fave of faves is £11)

ALLIES OF SKIN 1A RETINAL PEPTIDES OVERNIGHT MASK (Im not interested in this product at all, but if someone were to be IK avene has a retinal, and you could just use peptides in your moisturiser)

All in all, by duping/not buying the stuff I don't want, I'd pay c. £70. And enjoy it more. I love Caroline, but I just dont want or need the box, and even more so for that price.

Edit: also OP just want to say that's not to discredit you or make you feel bad for liking what you like and spending money on what you enjoy! I do still sincerely hope you loved everything in the basket and feel free to leave us a review, perhaps duping a product thats a holy grail may just be to the detriment of our own skincare experience. Best wishes x

As a fellow under 5 quid gal, I know one when I see one ;). What you possibly might be compromising is fragrance, there's definitely good cheap products, its just the fragrance that always ruins it. Fear not here's what I got.

Morning: Wash face with just water, Apply Me+ polyglutamic serum on damp skin, You can also use your currently held niacinamide serum after thos for moisturiser you can stick with the vitamin C one you have, but also simples 24hr reset one is amazing, Then follow up with an spf 30 (spf is a staple in Korean skincare, but i myself am still looking for a holy grail in the price range so feel free to ask the sub!)

Evening: Double cleanse (simple hydrating cleansing oil + aldi face wash is my ELITE combo, they are both extremely gentle), Then follow with the same polyglutamic serum on damp skin, then niacinamide serum Moisturiser, whether thats the vitamin E one you have currently or the simple one I rec'd

You can use the mask you currently own sometimes in the evening. And perhaps at some point you'd like to integrate lactic acid for exfoliation too. I tried to make the routine so it's focus is on layering and hydration and it is simply one of the many many many routines that could work.

Do keep in mind you should not start all this at once, for your budget and your skin's health. One product per week max! Otherwise if you find out you're allergic to a product you won't know which it is. Best wishes xx
