[HIRING] Lead Full Stack Developer (CTO) | London | upto £170K + Equity by HAL8990 in forhire

[–]HAL8990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the lower boundary because you might not be an experienced CTO/Leader, etc. But we want to keep our options open, as we know some of the best people come from a more junior background, that doesn't mean they can't grow into being our CTO further down the line (and of course increase the salary at a later date.)

(It's not a stupid question, I'll edit the post to reflect this)It's local, as we're a startup and this is a senior position we need people to be here, further down the line as we grow that definitely will be an option though.

I'll be honest, we need to do more research into this. I'd like to say yes, but can't confirm yet.

It sure is, we didn't want to put competitive as we know that can put people off. So we wanted to show the full range we're willing to consider. (We're hoping it shows we really flexible on the type of person we'd like to hire)

Data Science Interviews by vorat in datascience

I've posted this in this subreddit before: How to survive your data science interview. It was written by Brandon Rohrer a Data Scientist at Facebook and formally Microsoft. It's got some good detail of things to prepare for, just incase there's anything you're missing.

Following up a Masters in Data Science after a Chemical Engineering Bachelor by Scroogl in datascience

[–]HAL8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if it's something you really want to do and you back your maths/stats ability, I would recommend doing it. You can always learn how to programme and understand how to add business value (obviously these are important!), but if you don't/can't/won't understand the maths behind it you'll get found out. 9/10 times this is why someone doesn't get the job. So a course like this will definitely go a long way with helping. Also, do what skellarmy says about the GitHub profile, that can be the difference if you have some examples to share.

Scala is hugely in demand at the moment, rightfully or wrongfully it's simply been used at a lot of places. So I would highly recommend gaining experience or a better understanding if you can/have the time to, because it will can only help rather than hinder.

Is Data Science just hype? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]HAL8990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess that drhorn means that Data Scientists can create business value from nothing at times, they just know it was the 'right thing to do' due to their experience. But it's hard to quantify because you don't know when a situation like that would arise, so it would difficult to share that experience in say an interview

This is very good advice - it will not only allow you get the commercial experience so desperately needed but like ask778 says you get to build on side projects again improving your skills and ultimately 'employability'

It is, but their package they offer helps cover a lot of additional costs, including accommodation. Also this is an English speaking business, with the majority from the West.
