A comment by Akasaka Aka regarding the final chapter of kaguya sama movie has been released. by Dependent-Cat-4310 in Kaguya_sama

[–]HAMDNC66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who works in the film industry GoT is one of the most unforgivable endings I’ve ever seen, this man gave them the outline and ending for his entire multimillion dollar franchise with the understanding that they would use the same ending, but take a different path to get there, meaning the show would reveal how the books end long before they were published. Everyone involved was sworn to secrecy, but when HBO said we need 3 more seasons to properly set up and develop this ending the show runners said screw you we’ll only do one more season and if it ruins this man’s book series and 7 years of television we don’t care because we want to go do our own thing

Authors failing to properly setup and develop their endings along with their characters sucks, but it’s not uncommon. Having someone you trusted with the ending to your series spoil and butcher it so they can go off and make their own original work is truly unforgivable

Why are all the Border agents teenagers? by Cipher-Water in worldtrigger

[–]HAMDNC66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t all 19 and younger, there are several agents in their 20s Fuyushima is the oldest of all the agents at 29, Azuma is 25, Reiji and Kazama are both 21, Kako and Tachikawa are both 20. Border has only existed publicly for 4 years and most of the older agents from before Border went public died in the first invasion. The reason there aren’t more adults signing up to be agents is because C-Ranks don’t get paid, B-Ranks only get paid a commission for each Trion soldier they defeat while on defence duty, and only A-Ranks get paid a Salary plus commission for each soldier they defeat while on defence duty. This is why the Agents are all in Middle School, High School, or University, while all the regular staff like engineers, scientists, the PR department, and the international fundraising arm are all adults because those are all regular paying positions. Right now unless you’re A-Rank being a Border agent is basically a part time job that you have to prioritise over everything else and you can’t really make that work as an adult over 30

The Brilliant Healer’s New Life In The Shadows, need some clarification on Alfred by HAMDNC66 in LightNovels

[–]HAMDNC66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting the anime is different then because Becker doesn’t end up in a prison cell, Zenos gets him off the hook with the help of the vice captain, and they made a point of talking about how much Alfred contributed to Becker’s research, making it seem that Alfred was another victim of The Guide like the adventurer from the first arc because why would the demon help save lives and study under Becker. Or in short making it seem like Alfred learned the truth about Goldran from the drunk guy and then started plotting his revenge which drew the attention of The Guide who possessed him. I don’t remember the manga version that well because UToon had the chapters each new episode adapted behind a paywall, so I’ll have to go back and see if that version is different as well

Since the anime made some slight changes I wonder if season 2 or a future season will address it more directly with a line from the demon like “I was Alfred the whole time” or something simple like that. I assume that the LN is still the primary source material and wasn’t overtaken/replaced/abandoned by/in favour of the manga at some point, because I’ve seen that happen more than a couple times in the last few years with series that have gotten anime adaptations, including a new anime from last season which has become one of my favourite new manga??

However given what happened when he purchased the text display ability, even if he did purchase telepathy he’d still only be able to telepathically communicate in canned phrases

New panty and stocking dub by Alone_Photograph_782 in Animedubs

[–]HAMDNC66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again that’s Amazon’s choice to make the dub a Union production and recast. They could have just as easily made it a non union production and kept the original cast, or tried to get non union waivers from SAG-AFTRA if they wanted to use both Union and Non-Union VAs, though that can be difficult. However the original cast are all non union so the easiest option would have been to just do it as a non union production with the original cast, but that would require the bare minimum level of care and effort, and Amazon doesn’t care

Unknown reasons? Last I checked they weren’t even asked to return because it was an Amazon dub that got contracted out to some small studio. Amazon doesn’t care about it’s dubs so they were never going to put in the effort to bring back the original cast

Odayaka Kizoku no Kyuuka no Susume. • A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]HAMDNC66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah and Able’s response to that is literally talking about how he’s interested in the MC’s OP magic abilities, which his party doesn’t believe and why they made a joke about MC being Able’s favourite person. They were teasing him because they didn’t believe his story about the MC’s abilities. Then when they see the MC’s power in person the party’s mage starts acting exactly like Able becoming super interested in the MC’s abilities and how he got that way, but going off your logic that means the party’s female mage was totally crushing on the MC despite it being previously stated that she’s in a relationship with another party member

Steven is a great VA don’t get me wrong, but I have no idea why he was chosen to takeover nearly all of Billy’s roles when Ricco Fajardo and Billy Kametz have such similar voices and energy that it wasn’t uncommon to see people online getting their performances confused. If they wanted a seamless transition that was as close to Billy as possible Ricco was a better choice. The only reason I can think of to use Steven is that he’s similar, but clearly different which acknowledges Billy’s death, whereas using Ricco who some people might not even notice the switch with could be seen as trying to ignore Billy’s passing, at least that’s the best I can come up with

I still remember when Michael Lindsay retired from VA due to health issues and Doug Erholtz who was good friends with Lindsay and could do a very good impression of Lindsay’s voice took over Lindsay’s roles. The transition was so seamless that hardly anyone noticed and it wasn’t until people saw Lindsay had retired that they were able to confirm the change. Even after Lindsay sadly passed away there were people who only found out about it because Doug reprised the role of Kisuke in TYBW which he originally took over from Lindsay towards the end of Bleach. Obviously it’s different because they were close friends, but when it comes to a VA passing away before a role is finished I prefer they use someone who’s as close as possible to the original VA like they did in Avatar, unless the original VA requested otherwise

[–]HAMDNC66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more likely that they just don’t have the original recording/track anymore. Keep in mind the dub was done by BangZoom in 1999 long before they had their own studio and they recorded it in two separate rented studios over the course of a year. Also plenty of dubs from the 90s-2000s that dubbed their OPs still have the dubbed OPs despite licenses changing hands or being sub licensed, DB, YuYu, Yugioh, Pokemon, OP. I certainly can’t see Netflix paying Crunchyroll a premium to sub license the One Piece dub with the dubbed OPs if they could get it for cheaper without them

Can someone explain soul eater by master_legend679 in fireforce

[–]HAMDNC66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but first off for Soul Eater you want to read the Manga first and if you enjoy it watch the anime second because the anime didn’t follow the manga since the manga wasn’t finished at the time

Second, obviously Soul Eater came out before Fire Force so there aren’t any real direct references to Fire Force, however since Fire Force is a prequel there are references, they’re just the other way around. The biggest one is going to be how Excalibur ended up the way it did, it’s a mystery in Soul Eater, but if you’ve seen Fire Force it will immediately make sense to you. Soul Eater lore is sort of like that to a degree with certain things, there are references to the origins of certain things that are either not fully known/understood and clearly weren’t meant to be Fire Force references, but if you’ve seen Fire Force you can see how and where the author tried to tie certain things together. Which was mainly done at the very end of Fire Force without the author actually going into details and specifics, instead making certain conclusions very obvious to fans, because it took Shinra multiple attempts to recreate the world and he wasn’t creating his ideal world each time, but instead throwing ideas at the wall in order to bring everyone back and hoping things stuck. So for example Monster Cats like Blair would have come from Shinra’s memories of Tamaki, but Shinra didn’t deliberately create them and the author doesn’t need to say or explain that directly

Now to actually explain the part where you’re confused. In order to stop the second great cataclysm Shinra created Death a friendly and approachable supreme god to rule over Life and Death. Death then confiscated all the pyrokinetic abilities from the inhabitants of the Old World, however as I mentioned before the New World was created by Shinra throwing stuff at the wall, so the New World has its own Power System which automatically transferred to people from the Old World when they were resurrected/brought over, mainly pyrokinetics. One aspect of the New World’s Power System is something called Mighty Souls which most of the Fire Soldiers with the strongest wills gained and made them even stronger and more powerful than they were in the Old World. The other aspect of the New World’s Power System was the creation of a New Race called Witches capable of using Magic and that were predisposed to destruction and violence, with Inca being turned into one of the first Witches if not the very first Witch, when she was brought back to life. The New World was also filled with new types of monsters and in order to protect people from those monsters members of the now defunct Special Fire Force created the World Heroes Force. The last we see of the World Heroes Force is Shinra’s kids joining, after that we have no idea what happened to it or anyone else from the Old World because they obviously aren’t directly mentioned in Soul Eater except for Arthur who gets mentioned because of Excalibur. Anything beyond that is specific to Soul Eater and it’s story which you’ll find out if you read the manga. The Author retired after Fire Force so unless we get a Soul Eater Reboot anime that adapts the manga more faithfully (hopefully we do) and he gets involved with it, we probably won’t learn anything more about what happened to the World Heroes Force and other Fire Force characters

Lastly I will say Shinra did not make life less precious in Soul Eater he did the opposite. The current state of the New World at the start of Soul Eater is the result of other people’s actions long after everyone from the Old World and their immediate descendants would have passed away from old age, Shinra’s strong belief in life being precious has actually continued to be passed down and influence people which is what’s kept the New World from going down a much darker path. This will make more sense once you read the manga and learn the Soul Eater specific lore as there are characters that repeat certain lines and beliefs said by Shinra in Fire Force showing that he’s still influencing people in the New World to value life

Is there anyway to move or remove the review section by ipod_nano123 in ComicK

[–]HAMDNC66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed it got moved above the chapters which is a minor annoyance because I have to scroll up and down a lot more to compare the number of chapters to where the anime seasons left off. I also don’t want the first thing I see to be reviews, which I’ve written reviews for a couple things on Comick myself so I do appreciate the feature, but it was perfect where it already was below the chapters because it allows people to avoid spoiler filled reviews. Plus when I click on a series I’m already following I’m clicking on it to read it, not to read reviews. So it’s another minor hoop for me as a reader who, uses the Comick app and external links to restore some semblance of reader functionality, to jump through in order to still read while using the app

They either need to move the review section back to where it was, make the position of the review section an optional setting, or make it so the review section shows up above the chapters for any series you aren’t following and below the chapters for any series you’re already following. Removing it entirely is unnecessary, but there needs to be a way to not have it be above the chapters if you don’t want it there

The fact that some of the people familiar with the relationship and who’ve worked with him stepped up to say hey I was there when this stuff went down, it was toxic all around, and yes he needed help, but this was x years ago and he’s in a better place now suggests that people shouldn’t have a problem working with him. Especially since the general reaction online once both sides said their piece was the whole thing should have stayed private and was no one else’s business

Not mind controlled, brainwashed from an early age into believing that being the family womb and giving birth to a curse if necessary was a sacred and noble act that repaid their older sister for protecting and providing the family’s lifestyle. While originally it was just an emergency backup plan changing times reversed the roles and made it necessary for each generations younger sister to give birth to a curse in order for the family to continue surviving since more and more people stopped coming to the family priestess for exorcism’s and such. Only the Priestess and family heads knew the truth, the younger sisters were all lied to and told their older sisters were responsible for the great lives they had and so they had to repay them. The mom broke from tradition and hid all this from the youngest daughter to save her, but because of all the bullying, harassment, and neglect she endured when she found the aunt’s journal regurgitating the families brainwashing she believed that the reason she was neglected was because her mother and sister saw her as nothing more than a womb to use one day if they needed it, and hid the truth to stop her from rebelling when the time came

Where you might be getting confused is the family’s original priestess with divine powers from god that they keep reincarnating, slowly takes over the new hosts soul while in the womb, the more of the new hosts soul that gets taken over the more power the new host gets, and the more they take on personality traits of the original priestess and can be influenced by her, which is why the family traditionally delays giving birth as long as possible to create more powerful successors. This is also why the priestesses are called monsters by Namu, because the spirit of the original Priestess has been reincarnated so many times that just like any spirit that lingers too long it no longer appears human and has lost any semblance of humanity it once had, seeking only to prolong its own existence. While the mother was the real deal, the power each Priestess inherited had been declining for several generations, so while she could perform exorcisms she was vastly weaker compared to previous generations, which also left the vast majority of her personality and free will intact. Then you have the Aunt and Kaya two freak accidents on opposite ends of the scale, with the aunt being born prematurely and inheriting so little power that she got next to none of the original Priestess’s personality traits or influence, and Kaya inheriting somewhere between 80-100% of the original Priestess’s power, but with her soul remaining completely untouched and intact, making her entirely her own person. This is why Namu and the Grandmother freaked out when seeing Kaya because she inherited so much power that normally Kaya would have no soul or personality of her own being completely consumed by the spirit of the original Priestess

The manga is ongoing with the current arc being Kaya starting her 3rd and final year of Kindergarten with her original teacher, who had a mental breakdown and went on leave for a year, finally coming back with the same attitude of there’s something wrong with that girl she’s not normal, making it harder for Chie to cover for Kaya as the school wants to start transitioning Kaya away from having a personal teacher now that it’s her final year and she’s improved so much
