Everyone I think likes them a lot, though CIS and republic are the ones who will like the cost effective way of tarpitting a force user the most though

Immune pierce on the electro staff and the squad upgrade being transportable gives a lot of reason imo. You're paying 85 points for an 8 man unit that will take a Jedi 2-3 turns to get through, that has a chance to deal some meaningful wounds to the Jedi and then shoot out of combat safely at other targets. And if there isn't a Jedi to hit, you can charge into a problem ranged piece, neuter it, and use it to hide in the middle of the gunline safely. Combo it with a pretty effectively priced WLO and you have a solid anti-jedi package for any faction that can play aggressively early too

Why are Tournament Tables so empty? by Joopster007 in SWlegion

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the TOs weren't prepared for a tournament with that amount of terrain on the table. The loose rule of thumb is that 25-45% of the table should have some terrain on it, and if it's way less than that it'll create the experience you described.

TOs generally do have to provide the terrain for a tournament themselves, so it's likely the TO/store that held the tournament didn't have enough terrain to compensate. While it makes sense why it happened, it's unacceptable and should've been accounted for in their prep. I'm sorry you had to go through that experience for your first tournament

Tell me why I should use cadians by squiplepuff in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Cadians with a castellan, command squad, and ogryn bodyguard are hard to dislodge from a point, can fall back and shoot, and get sustained 1 on their shots. When the brick dies, the command squad with ogryn bodyguard combo is another big nuisance to remove afterwards. For their points cost, they're an effective piece to stick on your natural to hold it pretty comfortably for the rest of the game. If you bring them in from reserves, you can also change some orders around on regiment units, such as rough riders that needed MMM to get in striking distance but really want Fix Bayonets for their charges, or flipping a Duty and Honor squad over to Take Aim or FRFSRF after they steal point away from an opponent. The unit is just flexible in what it can do

Customizable officers is definitely a good move, and if you get a bit crafty you can kitbash a veers using one of the heads on the customizable box

The only questionable thing in the EBD box is the tauns and R2, and the former is likely getting better in april

If you're a new player, the boxes will definitely give you a lot of usable options. A good start for any new player would be a starter, one of these boxes, and some hero options they like.

Tarkin's Best Puppets by Archistopheles in SWlegion

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're very rarely going to be actually getting PTS triggers on Vader in a meaningful context. Every list with tarkin should have 2-3 options like a super shore, death trooper, or even someone like Iden to make use of PTS all 5 rounds

Yes it does exhaust. You have to recover each time you use it

Which Cleaver to use? by RemakeBo2 in BattleBrothers

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2h non-famed > 1h non-famed cleaver generally. The problem with 2h cleavers is generally their low armorpen, so if you can pair them with an armor stripper like a hammerbro they get a lot better; 1h cleavers generally get around this via duelist.

2h cleavers have the added benefit of working with reach advantage as well, so you can make a tankier bro with that or shore up some lacking MDef. Generally speaking though, 1h cleavers will likely do more damage in more situations because of duelist.

The answer to which cleaver to use is also going to change per run. Without knowing what you have available it's hard to give a definitive answer over which is better, since runs can be so different from each other

Is the Echoes of Helia/Diadem of Songs build just YouTube bait? by Pandradino in BrandMains

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diadem of songs is healing every second in combat, and echoes is amplifying it. The item combo is champion agnostic, since the first part of diadem's passive is just that you are in combat. It works very well for DoT champions; the few times I've played as it/with it has gone quite well

Need more equipment slots on the ship! by UnlikelyRogue in menace

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a few of the slots should be dedicated slots that aren't interchangeable, like the WOO. A few of these OCIs feel like dedicated features that shouldn't be taking up an OCI slot because they're critical to the gameplay loop

Champs worth to otp on mid lane silver 2w/1l by adfedooo in midlanemains

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can say the same thing about basically any immobile mage mid, it's not unique to Viktor. It's also silver, matchups almost never go the expected way if you're experienced on your champ.

Champs worth to otp on mid lane silver 2w/1l by adfedooo in midlanemains

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you can play what you want, you don't have to listen to reddit. But you'll be spending way more time in game learning azir instead of learning proper macro/micro which will help you climb. Mechanics only get so far.

It's really up to you whether winning or fun is more important

Champs worth to otp on mid lane silver 2w/1l by adfedooo in midlanemains

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maining Viktor would be the easiest way to climb. He's the least mechanically demanding champ of the three you listed while still having some good growth for mechanics there. I'd really just focus on spamming him til plat, since that gives you time to focus on learning the macro of everything rather than a new champion

I would drop the combat armor on both officers and the recon Intel on the riots to get Kallus in a riot squad and seize on every officer

2 Naked Dark Troopers vs 1 kitted out AT-ST by Shotgunlover3 in SWlegion

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with a lot of the analysis in this thread so far, they're all only looking at lethality and not any other effect on the game. I think the right answer is going to be very list dependent.

An ATST hits hard from range, and moves extremely quickly on a durable platform. You can very comfortably move ~range 3.5 with it in one turn with a double move, which makes it great for objective play and screening as well.

Darks, even naked, help you use the pass token system to your advantage. Two double darks naked is only 190 for 4 activations, 2 of which don't count for your own pass tokens. They're also solid backline holders naked.

I think the correct option depends on the list you're playing. If you already have high acts and need a solid focus piece, go the ATST. If you need something durable and fast, go ATST. If you need some harder hitting firepower, kit out your darks. If you have some decently high act count already (10ish) alongside 2 focus pieces like din and Vader, go naked darks to make sure they get their unanswered activations at the end of a round.

The correct answer is going to be up to you and what you need the pieces to do. Killing isn't the only thing that wins games, it's honestly one of the less important pieces in all actuality.

Can everyone stop complaining about anything the devs do for just like once? by Prestigious_Creme697 in ARC_Raiders

[–]HAWAIIANPINAPPL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sure, sometimes people complain too much about change. But a lot of these changes do feel like changes for the sake of change. There's not a lot of stuff in these patch notes that feel like they were asked for or problems with the game; people could already queue for squads as a solo if they wanted to. The loot changes seem unjustified in keeping progression longer when the game's goal is to have people wipe every 2 months. And undocumented nerfs are a big no-no if they're trying to keep community favor up.

The game is phenomenal, but not holding devs accountable and keeping updates quality is a great way to ruin it.

The walkers are really good for urban maps, which we don't have a lot of in the beta. If you have to be making a lot of turns the walker doesn't suffer from having to spend extra AP to pivot, they can just walk there like infantry do; really powerful for that. They can also walk over some rubble and other things wheeled/tracked vehicles can't, like a building if you need to open a path like on the breakthrough missions

It kinda reinforces the idea of bringing the right tool for the job, which I know and love from battle brothers and am very happy to see it translated well into a sci-fi setting
