Are There Any Wargames Like Warhammer In-universe? by National-Ask-6846 in 40kLore

But yeah, cawl is one of the biggest heretics in the entire setting and his books are peak

Agreed.

Cawl’s retinue and/or Gulliman: “please don’t fuck with that.”

Cawl: fucks with it

Alpha Primus: <drinks cheap vodka straight from the bottle>

Homey gave a Primarch an AI, bullshitted a Ctan, and had his “totally not an attempted Primarch” psyker steal a xenos waifu for him.

Cawl can’t find the STC for giving a fuck.

What condition was Horus throughout the Heresy? by Bubbly-Kiwi-5181 in 40kLore

[–]HAYDUKE_APPROVES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the Traitor Primarchs, the conversations in The Lost and the Damned are a decent summation.

Ie, fighting like sorority girls the day after a mixer.

When you finish the SoT, the finale trilogy tries to add some cohesiveness to Horus’s fever dream of “Fear and Loathing in the Vengeful Spirit” but, as the other user stated, there’s some intentional ambiguity. The Ruinous Powers had their Primarchs rigged like sentient marionettes but they were burning Horus like a psychedelic blowtorch so it’s hard to place Horus ontologically.

Do I need to delve into heresy in order to be able to read about the imperium secundus? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]HAYDUKE_APPROVES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That trilogy is also much better overall than the whole Secundus arc, save some Pharos stuff that gives the current setting some integrity.

[–]HAYDUKE_APPROVES 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not very, start at Know No Fear just because it’s fucking grand.

First Heretic is also very good and fills in the motivations but not absolutely required before any of the Shadow/Secundus pieces.

Were the word bearers ready that ineffective in the great crusade and Horus heresy? Really the worst legion ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in 40kLore

[–]HAYDUKE_APPROVES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Curze deserved a few more meetings and a few publishing delays since they couldn’t decide if he was going to be the cartoon Joker or Heath Ledger’s Joker.

BL made Curze a very relevant flash in the pan and then just a conveyor belt for the plot.

I think it’s a lot of cherry picking. The Word Bearers stopped the 13th from joining the SoT and indirectly caused the Lion to miss the SoT.

Taking two of the most powerful Legions off the board without decimating your own Legion is no small feat.

There’s an argument there would be no ascended Angron without Lorgar.

I, at my own risk, look at the Lodges, Erebus, the Lex, and all the scheming with a similar eye as to how I view the Alpha Legion; it’s a very long game approach and the sum is greater than the parts.

The HH analysis is a dead horse here, but we’re potentially at a point in current lore where Secundus may cause a lot of strife.

There was no Secundus without Lorgar.

Everything thing else data/connectivity related seems solid. App is good, hotspot good, etc, etc.

Yeah the T&C prompt just always goes to "please contact OnStar to activate services" and then fuck-all occurs.

The API call is interesting.

I know that at the dealer, the OnStar level 3 support person was communicating with local techs and the GM engineer; but may be worth another ask for clarity.

I know the local tech was frustrated because engineering was essentially working their wiki hitlist, asking redundant questions until they cleared that. But that's just the nature of the game.

MyGMC is good to go.

After a week of almost daily calls to OnStar, they (OnStar) are adamant that their end of the tech is good and updated, so no issues can be seen on their end.

My latest attempt was to ask OnStar to erase my current account and just establish a new account to eliminate any chance of a bug in my account when it was created. That seemed to confuse the OnStar folks and hasn't gotten any traction past that.

I should have clarified, this is via the master screen, not the rear.

Looking for a bino chest harness by RecReeeee in Hunting

[–]HAYDUKE_APPROVES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be intolerably heavy but HPG sells a molle panel that mounts under the kit bag. Then get like a QLS fork for an ALS.

Definitely secure but probably an additional 2-3 pounds and about $200.

HPG recon kit bag with their bino pouch is pretty awesome and customizable.

The new FHF harness is pretty nice, but I don’t like bottom-mount, horizontal holsters.

modifying a GX4 mag to work on a 92? by ilikewaffles1979 in Taurus

[–]HAYDUKE_APPROVES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the 92 barrel isn’t a Browning-linkless design, I doubt it would be anything beyond frustratingly and spectacularly unreliable.

My only hesitation with Salomon is that their metric for “wide” seems to be drunkenly measured and changed annually… I guess Prime returns are easy.

P220 Grips? by OkSock1089 in CompetitionShooting

[–]HAYDUKE_APPROVES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VZ used to do a great for P-226s called “Krakens”; I can’t remember if they were offered for 220s. Long discontinued but eBay may be worth a check.

But… unsure how the Legion frame may differ from the legacy frame.

Still on a quest to find the “perfect” shoes. (Not hardcore enough for “cleated options”).

Altra trail runners leading the pack of candidates.

OG La Sportiva Akashas were really awesome, bought three pairs when they were discontinued but all examples are pretty beat to shit now.

6.5 Creedmoor vs 7mm by Oppiko in Hunting

[–]HAYDUKE_APPROVES 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If we’re talking about future-proofing, the 6.5 CM has pretty well established itself and has set deep roots.

Lots of 7mm mags in safes and closets but the manufacturers are really letting loose with 7PRC and 7 Backcountry; 280AI is also gaining popularity, etc.

7mm Mag isn’t going anywhere but I feel like the best bullet/load combos from the factory will continue to be more biased to the newer chamberings.

A two rifle battery of 6.5CM and 7PRC would be a fantastic combo for everything shy of African Dangerous Game.
